리튬 폴리머전지용 PVDF/PAN계 고분자 전해질의 이온 전도 특성 (Ion Conduction Properties of PVDF/PAN based Polymer Electrolyte for Lithium Polymer Battery)

  • The purpose of this study is to research and develop solid polymer electrolyte(SPE) for Li polymer battery. The temperature dependence of conductivity impedance spectroscopy and electrochemical properties of PDF/PAN electrolytes as a function of a mixed ratio were reported for PVDF/PAN based polymer electrolyte films which were prepared by thermal gellification method of preweighed PVDF/PAN plasticizer and Li salt. The conductivity of PVDF/PAN electrolytes was 10$\^$-3/S/cm. 20PVDF5PEN LiCiO$\_$4//PC$\_$10//EC$\_$10/ electrolyte has the better conductivity compared to others. 20PVDF5PANLICIO$\_$4//PC$\_$10//EC$\_$10/ electroylte remains stable up to 5V vs. Li/Li$\^$+/. Steady state current method and ac impedance were used for the determination of transference numbers in PVDF/PAN electrolyte film. The transference number of 20PVDF5PANLiCO$\^$4//PC$\_$10//EC$\_$10/ electrolyte is 0.48.

  • Newly developed Series hybrid low-floor articulated vehicle which can meet both road and railway running conditions. It has the rated driving speed of 80 km/h and three driving modes with hybrid(engine+battery) driving mode, engine driving mode, battery driving mode. The battery driving mode requires the several 10 km running without additional charging operation. The vehicle has been equipped with LPB (lithium polymer battery) pack for the series hybrid propulsion system. LPB pack consists of 168 cells (3.7 V in a cell, 80 Ah) in series, DC Circuit breaker, mechanical rack, BMS (battery management system). This paper has shown the design process of LPB pack and application to the vehicle. Driving results in the road was successful to be satisfied with the requirement of the series hybrid vehicle.

  • 최근 스마트폰 기술이 발달함에 따라 웨어러블 기기의 발전 속도도 빨라지고 있다. 그러나, 웨어러블 기기는 소형으로 제작되어 사용되기 때문에 작은 전력으로 오랫동안 동작되게 하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 웨어러블 기기 사용 편리성을 극대화하기 위해서 소형화된 웨어러블 기기에 적합한 효율적인 리듐 폴리머 배터리 모델을 설계 및 구현한다. 제안된 모델은 열전소자를 응용하여 배터리 크기를 소형화하고 배터리 용량을 경량화한 한 것이 특징이다. 또한, 제안 모델은 Peltier device의 특성을 이용하여 사람의 체온과 상온의 온도 차를 이용하여 전력을 발생시켜 충전을 하는 방식을 사용하기 때문에 웨어러블 기기의 사용 시간을 대폭 향상 시켜준다. 특히, 제안 모델은 웨어러블 기기뿐만 아니라 스마트폰의 보조 충전용으로도 사용 가능한다.

고성능 리튬 이온전지를 위한 폴리머-세라믹 복합 겔 고분자 전해질 (Polymer-Ceramic Composite Gel Polymer Electrolyte for High-Electrochemical-Performance Lithium-Ion Batteries)

  • 본 연구에서는 poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP)를 나노 크기의 $Al_2O_3$ 세라믹입자와 혼합하여 전기방사법으로 복합 겔 고분자 전해질을 제조하였다. $Al_2O_3$ 세라믹입자를 혼합한 복합 겔 고분자 전해질의 이온전도도는 $9.5{\times}10^{-2}Scm^{-1}$로, 순수한 PVdF-HFP 겔 고분자 전해질보다 높은 이온전도도를 나타내며 전기화학적 안정성도 5.2 V까지 개선하였다. 전기화학적 성능을 분석하기 위해서 $LiNi_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}Co_{1/3}O_2$ (NMC)양극과 함께 전지로 제작되었으며 순수 겔 고분자 전해질과 복합 겔 고분자 전해질 셀은 0.1C-rate에서 각각 $168.2mAh\;g^{-1}$$189.6mAh\;g^{-1}$의 방전 용량을 가지며 우수한 수명 특성을 보여 주었다. 따라서 고유전율 세라믹 입자의 복합화는 리튬 이온 겔 고분자 전지의 안정성과 전기화학적 특성을 향상시키는 좋은 대안이 될 것으로 판단된다.

  • Polyphenylenediamine(PPD)film was prepared with organo sulfur compond (2-aminothiophenol, 1,2-ethanedithiol, and 2-aminoethaneethiol etc.) adding lithium salt to increase the electrical conductivity of the polymer surface. The molecular structure of conductive polymer synthesized were examined and discussed by using SEM, FT-IR, NMR etc. The elecrical conductivity messurement were carried out with four-probe method at dry box of He and $N_2$atmosphere. The typical value of successful electrical conductivity was 1.2$\times$10$^1$S/cm at room temperature.

  • 리튬 이온 전지의 양극과 음극 사이에 물리적인 층을 만들어주는 분리막은 분리막의 품질에 따라 리튬 이온 전지의 성능을 결정함에 따라 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 일반적으로 전기화학적 안정성과 적절한 역학적 강도를 갖고 있는 폴리에틸렌과 폴리프로필렌으로 구성된 다공성 막이 리튬 이온 전지의 분리막으로 사용된다. 하지만 폴리에틸렌과 폴리프로필렌의 낮은 열 저항성과 젖음성으로 인해 리튬 이온 전지의 잠재력을 충분히 끌어내지 못한다. 녹는점 이상의 온도에 도달하게 되면 분리막의 구조가 변형되고 리튬 이온 전지는 단락된다. 분리막의 낮은 젖음성은 낮은 이온전도도와 부합하고, 이는 전지의 저항을 상승시킨다. 이러한 폴리에틸렌과 폴리프로필렌 분리막의 단점을 극복하고자 이중 전기방사방법, 코팅 층 도포 방법, 코어 셸 구조 형성 방법, 제지법 등 여러 가지 방법들이 연구되었다. 언급된 방법들로 합성된 분리막들은 열 저항성과 젖음성이 크게 향상되었고 유연성과 인장 강도 같은 역학적 특성도 향상되었다. 본 리뷰 논문에는 각기 다른 방법으로 형성된 리튬이온 전지의 분리막에 대해서 다루고 있다.

전자선을 이용한 PVDF-HFP/Silylated Al2O3가 코팅된 리튬 이차 전지용 폴리에틸렌 분리막의 전기화학적 특성 연구 (Electrochemical Study on PVDF-HFP/Silylated Al2O3-coated PE Separators using the Electron Beam Irradiation for Lithium Secondary Battery)

  • PVDF-HFP (binder)/silylated alumina (inorganic particle)-coated PE (polyethylene) separators were with various compositions of binder and inorganic particle were prepared by a dip-coating process with humidity control (R.H. 25% and 50%) using electron beam irradiation. The morphology of the coated PVDF-$HFP/Al_2O_3$ layer with various compositions of PVDF-HFP and $Al_2O_3$, and humidity condition was found to be an important factor in determining ionic conductivity of the prepared separators. The PVDF-$HFP/Al_2O_3$ (5/5)-coated PE separator prepared at R.H. 50% followed by electron beam irradiation at 200 kGy was applied for lithium-ion polymer battery and the cell test results showed improved high-rate discharge performance and better cyclic stability compared to the cells with the bare PE and the PVDF-HFP-coated PE separators.

Surface Treatment of LiFePo4 Cathode Material for Lithium Secondary Battery

  • In this study, nano-crystallized $Al_2O_3$ was coated on the surface of $LiFePO_4$ powders via a novel dry coating method. The influence of coated $LiFePO_4$ upon electrochemical behavior was discussed. Surface morphology characterization was achieved by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), clearly showing nano-crystallized $Al_2O_3$ on $LiFePO_4$ surfaces. Furthermore, it revealed that the $Al_2O_3$-coated $LiFePO_4$ cathode exhibited a distinct surface morphology. It was also found that the $Al_2O_3$ coating reduces capacity fading especially at high charge/discharge rates. Results from the cyclic voltammogram measurements (2.5-4.2 V) showed a significant decrease in both interfacial resistance and cathode polarization. This behavior implies that $Al_2O_3$ can prevent structural change of $LiFePO_4$ or reaction with the electrolyte on cycling. In addition, the $Al_2O_3$ coated $LiFePO_4$ compound showed highly improved area-specific impedance (ASI), an important measure of battery performance. From the correlation between these characteristics of bare and coated $LiFePO_4$, the role of $Al_2O_3$ coating played on the electrochemical performance of $LiFePO_4$ was probed.

A Design and Control of Bi-directional Non-isolated DC-DC Converter with Coupled Inductors for Rapid Electric Vehicle Charging System

  • This paper presents a simple and cost-effective stand-alone rapid battery charging system of 30kW for electric vehicles. The proposed system mainly consists of active front-end rectifier of neutral point clamped 3-level type and non-isolated bi-directional dc-dc converter of multi-phase interleaved half-bridge topology with coupled inductors. The charging system is designed to operate for both lithium-polymer and lithium-ion batteries. The complete charging sequence is made up of three sub-interval operating modes; pre-charging mode, constant-current mode, and constant-voltage mode. The pre-charging mode employs the staircase shaped current profile to accomplish shorter charging time while maintaining the reliable operation of the battery. The proposed system is able to reach the full-charge state within less than 16min for the battery capacity of 8kWh by supplying the charging current of 67A. The optimal discharging algorithm for Vehicle to the Grid (V2G) operation has been adopted to maintain the discharging current of 1C. Owing to the simple and compact power conversion scheme, the proposed solution has superior module-friendly mechanical structure which is absolutely required to realize flexible power expansion capability in a very high-current rapid charging system.
