  • Background and objective: This study was conducted to increase understanding of agriculture through agricultural experience programs for adolescents living in self-reliance residence hall, and to investigate changes in work performance ability through changes in hand function. Methods: There were 11 subjects, and the average age was 18.2 years, all males without disabilities. The agricultural experience program consists of a total of 10 sessions including orientation and watching videos on future agriculture, creating vegetable gardens, planting, managing each crop, harvesting, visiting the processing room, and selling at a local food store. Results: The change in agricultural literacy by the agricultural experience program positively improved from a score of 113.73 to 127.91 (p = .008). The changes by sub-item are as follows. The value and safety of agri-foods (p = .020) and agriculture and natural environment (p = .007) were significantly improved. The function and value of rural areas (p = .050), production of agricultural products (p = .160), processing and distribution of agricultural products (p = .248), and agricultural policies (p = .058) were not significantly changed. The simple function of the hands was measured by the number of pegs inserted during 30 seconds, and the assembly function was measured by the number of pegs inserted during 60 seconds. In the case of simple function, the dominant hand was improved from 14.82 to 15.83 (p = .014), andthe non-dominant hand was also significantly improved from 13.79 to 15.01 (p = .002). There was no significant improvement in the simple function (p = .153) and assembly function (p = .770) of both hands. Conclusion: It is considered that the agricultural experience program will enable youths living in self-reliance residence halls to enhance their understanding of agriculture as an occupation, and enable them to play a role as wise consumers by positively affecting improvements in their agricultural literacy and simple hand functions.

  • This study explored the linkage between literacy and writing with a computer in three-to five-year-old children. The 57 subjects were closely observed as they produced written language forms using the word processing program, Araeha Hangul. Stages of writing with a computer were developed to assess the children's computer-writing. While writing with a computer, children invented letters, words, and sentences in an experimental and playful way. Children's writing with computer improved with age. There was a positive correlation between writing with a computer and writing with a pencil. In this way, computer writing was found to be part of written language development.

  • Recently, with the advent of the software-based society, many organizations have been providing software developing education, such as coding, to Computer Science majors and non-Computer Science majors. When implementing a program, teachers can let students draw a variety of diagrams, such as flowcharts, UML diagrams, and ERD diagrams ahead. As the importance of computational thinking is increasingly emphasized, abstracting algorithms into diagrams is considered an important educational element. In this paper, we examined the visual literacy and abstract/concrete way of thinking of novice programmers in order to analyze factors affecting the abstraction process of drawing diagrams, and how they influence students' ability to understand diagrams and ability to draw. If we understand what factors influence the abstraction process in this study, we can suggest educational alternatives for future strategies in which teachers will teach students.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among information resources use, problem solving ability, nursing information literacy competency in general hospital nurses. The descriptive correlational study design was used. The data were collected from 141 nurses working in the two general hospital located G city using self-reported questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistics 20.0 program. As results of multiple regression analysis, the factors affecting nursing information literacy competency were problem solving ability and electronic information resources use. And this model could explain 38.0%(F=43.73, p<.001). Considering the findings from this study, nurses need to develop problem solving ability and electronic information resources use improvement program for them.

  • Purpose: This study developed and tested a hypothetical model of health promotion behavior on migrant workers based on the Health Promotion Model and the Health Literacy Skills Framework. Methods: Data were collected from 298 migrant workers in 9 regions across the country from December 2020 to March 2021. The exogenous variables were e-health literacy, occupational stress, acculturation, and social support. The endogenous variables were perceived benefits of action, self-efficacy, and health promotion behavior. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 25.0, AMOS 20.0, and R-4.0.3 program. Results: The model fit was appropriate. Social support had the most significant direct impact on the health promotion behavior of migrant workers. Perceived benefits of action and self-efficacy played a mediating role in the relationship among e-health literacy, social support, and health promotion behavior. Based on multi-group analysis, the migrant worker group with less than 5 years of residency had a more statistically significant effect on the relationship between perceived benefits of action and health promotion behavior than those with over 5 years. Conclusion: Providing social support as a critical administrative strategy to enhance the health promotion behavior of migrant workers is necessary. Furthermore, when developing an intervention program utilizing the internal mechanism between social support and health promotion behavior, a self-efficacy-enhancing strategy is considered to be more effective. Additionally, educating migrant workers with short-term residence of less than 5 years about the benefits of health behaviors is essential.

For this purpose, college students enrolled in finance courses were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which participated in the NIE program, and the control group, which did not. After implementing the NIE program, independent sample t-tests and multiple regression analyses were conducted. The results of the study are as follows: First, in terms of sub-elements of financial literacy, the financial attitude in the experimental group was higher than in the control group. Second, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of financial knowledge and behavior. Third, in the experimental group, financial knowledge had a significant positive effect on financial management behavior. The results of this study confirmed that the NIE learning method is considerably effective in financial education, which is essential for college students to fulfill their role as economic agents leading sound financial lives.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate studesnts' attitudes toward computers and science subject using CAI(Computer-Assisted Instruction) as an instructional strategy in the elementary school level of science and computer literacy course. The influence of CAI programs on learner's attitudes toward computers and science varied according to the variables of,(l)sex (2)experience by computer learning, (3)learner's attitudes toward computers and science. Eighty nine samples were divided into the two groups. One group(48 studesnts)which is in the experimental group took a science instruction using CAI programs and computer literacy course, another group which is in the control group took only a science instruction using CAI programs. Data were collected and compared the experimental group with the control group. The results indicate as follows:(l) studesnts took science instruction using the CAI programs appeared a positive attitudes toward science. (2) the science attitudes of science instruction using the CAI programs was more effective in the lower group than in the upper group. (3) computer literacy course produced the positive attitude toward computers regardless of the experience by computer learning. (4) students using CAI programs with computer literacy course were more effective than students using CAI program only.
