Synthesis of Three Ring Type Compounds with Fluorine and NCS Groups as Candidates for VA mode Liquid Crystal Display

  • Three ring type liquid crystalline compounds having 4-alklycyclohexyl group, 1,2-difluorobenzene and phenylisothiocyanate moieties as main skeleton were designed to have negative dielectricity. However, the compounds with 2,3,2'-trifluoro-3'-isothiocyanated biphenylcyclohexane core did not exhibit the nematic liquid crystalline phase because of two conformers by interaction of isothiocyanate and adjacent fluorine atoms. Also, 4-alkyl-2,2',3'-trifluoro-3-isothiocyanated biphenylcyclohexane core was designed expecting to have uniform conformers of isothiocyanate group. In the course of developing polyimides for VA mode LCD, we synthesized alkyl-3,5-diaminobenzene efficiently with various length of alkyl chains from commercially available di-t-butyl malonate and 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride as starting material.

  • 지금까지 액막두께나 air core 직경 변화 등과 같은 수력학적 과정에 대한 이론 실험적 연구가 많이 이루어져왔다. 스월 노즐에서 수치적 해석 등을 통해 이에 대한 몇 가지 이론식들이 확립되었지만, 아직까지 내부유동에 대한 실험적 연구 결과 등은 명백히 정립되어 있지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스월 챔버 내의 air core를 가시화하고 액막두께를 측정하여 내부유동의 변화 및 안정성 등을 살펴보았다.

구형용기내 고상의 하강운동을 고려한 융해과정의 해석 (An Analysis of Gravity-Assisted Melting of Subcooled Solid Filled Inside a Spherical Capsule)

  • A numerical study on the melting process inside an isothermal spherical capsule is made. It is assumed that the phase change medium of its solid phase is heavier than the liquid phase and therefore the unmelted solid core is continuously moving downward on account of gravity forces. Such a gravity-assisted melting is commonly characterized by the existence of a thin liquid film below the solid core. The present study is motivated to present a full-equation-based analysis of the influences of the initial subcooling and the natural convection on the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics associated with the gravity-assisted melting. In the light of the solution strategy, the present study is substantially distinguished from the existing works in that the complete set of governing equations in both the melted and unmelted regions are resolved without subdivision of the solution domains. For example, the liquid film region and the upper melted region are treated here as one domain and thus obviating laborious efforts to couple them. Numerical results are obtained by varying the Rayleigh numbers and the degree of subcooling. For the range of parameters examined, the presence of subcooling was found to impede the melting rate. The dropping velocity of the unmelted solid core was observed to affect the natural convection in the liquid significantly. When compared with the available experimental data, much improved prediction was achieved.

카본 CCL이 적용된 PCB의 열거동 및 신뢰성 특성 연구 (A Study on Thermal Behavior and Reliability Characteristics of PCBs with a Carbon CCL)

  • 본 논문에서는 HDI(High Density Interconnection) 기판의 코어로 사용될 수 있는 카본 CCL(Copper Claded Layer)의 열거동 및 신뢰성 특성을 실험과 CAE를 이용한 수치해석을 통해 평가하였다. 카본 CCL의 특성평가를 위해 기존 FR-4 코어와 heavy cu 코어와 비교하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 pitch계열 카본코어가 적용된 PCB의 휨강도가 가장 높고 온도에 따른 변형량이 가장 낮았다. 또한, HDI 신뢰성평가 기준의 TC(Thermal Cycling), LLTS(Liquid-to-Liquid Thermal Shock), Humidity 실험을 통해 카본코어가 적용된 PCB는 신뢰성이 확보되었음을 확인하였다. 카본 파이버에 의한 불균일한 비아홀의 표면형상 여부와 드릴비트 마모 가능성을 분석하였는데 비아홀의 표면은 균일하고, 드릴비트의 표면도 매끄러워 카본 CCL의 우수한 드릴가공성도 확인하였다.

Fluid Effects on the Core Seismic Behavior of a Liquid Metal Reactor

  • In this paper, a numerical application algorithm for applying the CFAM (Consistent Fluid Added Mass) matrix for a core seismic analysis is developed and applied to the 7-ducts core system to investigate the fluid effects on the dynamic characteristics and the seismic time history responses. To this end, three cases such as the in-air condition, the in-water condition without the fluid coupling terms, and the in-water condition with the fluid coupling terms are considered in this paper. From modal analysis, the core duct assemblies revealed strongly coupled out-of-phase vibration modes unlike the other cases with the fluid coupling terms considered. From the results of the seismic time history analysis, it was also verified that the fluid coupling terms in the CFAM matrix can significantly affect the impact responses and the seismic displacement responses of the ducts.

Optical Simulation of Viewing Angle Property of Biaxial Nematic Bent-Core Liquid Crystal

  • The conventional liquid crystal displays (LCDs) have been using optically uniaxial liquid crystal (LC) medium and this often causes a significant image change at oblique viewing angles. We simulated the viewing angle properties of the biaxial nematic (Nb) phase of a bent-core liquid crystal (BLC) and compared the results with the vertically aligned (VA)- and the in-plane switching (IPS)-LCDs. The Nb phase of the BLC showed a smaller transmittance at the dark state as well as a greater contrast ratio at wide viewing angle. The viewing angle property of the Nb-mode without any compensation film was slightly superior to the IPS-mode with the compensation films eliminating the decross of the polarizers at oblique viewing angle.

Microstructure and Soft Magnetic Properties of Fe-6.5 wt.%Si Sheets Fabricated by Powder Hot Rolling

  • Fe-6.5 wt.% Si alloys are widely known to have excellent soft magnetic properties such as high magnetic flux density, low coercivity, and low core loss at high frequency. In this work, disc-shaped preforms are prepared by spark plasma sintering at 1223 K after inert gas atomization of Fe-6.5 wt.% Si powders. Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are rolled by a powder hot-rolling process without cracking, and their microstructure and soft magnetic properties are investigated. The microstructure and magnetic properties (saturation magnetization and core loss) of the hot-rolled Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are examined by scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, vibration sample magnetometry, and AC B-H analysis. The Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheet rolled at a total reduction ratio of 80% exhibits good soft magnetic properties such as a saturation magnetization of 1.74 T and core loss ($W_{5/1000}$) of 30.7 W/kg. This result is caused by an increase in the electrical resistivity resulting from an increased particle boundary density and the oxide layers between the primary particle boundaries.

  • 본 연구는 LLE(liquid-liquid extraction) 전처리 방법과 HPLC/UV를 이용하여 혈장에서 이트라코나졸을 정량 분석하는 방법을 연구하였다. 이트라코나졸과 내부표준물질(펠로디핀)을 디에틸에테르로 추출하고 C18 컬럼을 이용하여 분리한 후 UV 검출기를 통하여 254 nm에서 검출하였다. 이동상은 10 mM 아세트산 암모늄 완충액(pH 7) :아세토나이트릴(35:65, v/v) 혼합용액을 사용하였으며, 유속은 0.2 mL/min.으로 하였다. 정량범위는 2~1,000 ng/mL 이며, 상관관계($R^2$)는 0.9991로 좋은 직선성을 보였다. 정량한계는 2 ng/mL, 재현성은 변동계수가 10.8 이하, 정확도는 97.2~108.2% 였다. 이 분석방법은 혈장 중의 약물 정량 및 약물의 약동력학에 유용함을 보여주었다.
