The structural analysis of liquid rocket engine was performed in the case of sinusoidal vibration load to verify structural safety. The finite element model is composed with main liquid rocket engine components, combustion chamber, turbopump, gas-generator, pyro-starter, main pipes, main valve, heat-exchanger, gimbal-mount and brackets. Natural vibration mode analysis and structural analysis for sinusoidal vibration load were performed. The natural mode frequency of liquid rocket engine is twice than that of launch vehicle. In the case of stress result of sinusoidal vibration load, the part of maximum stress has 1.4 margin, so the engine structure is safe for sinusoidal vibration load.

An analysis has been made on the performance variation due to pressure drop change at propellant supply pipes of liquid rocket engine. The objective is to compare the effectiveness of control variables to tune the liquid rocket engine performance. The mode analysis program has been used to estimate the engine performance for different modes which is realized by controlling the flow rate of propellant. The oxidizer of combustion chamber, the fuel of combustion chamber, the oxidizer of gas generator and the fuel of gas generator are the independent variables to control engine thrust, engine mixture ratio and temperature of gas generator product gas. The analysis program is validated by comparing with the powerpack test results. The error range of compared variables is order of 4%. After comparison of tuning effectiveness it is turned out that the pressure drop at oxidizer pipe of gas generator and pressure drop at combustion chamber fuel pipe and the pressure drop at the fuel pipe of gas generator can effectively tune the thrust of engine, mixture ratio of engine and temperature of product gas from gas generator respectively.

The effect of ceramic thermal barrier coating thickness on the cooling performance of a liquid-propellant rocket engine combustor has been investigated through combustion/cooling performance analysis whose results verified against measured data from hot-firing tests. Also have been confirmed the effects of film cooling amount near the face plate on the coolant temperature and on the thermal barrier coating surface temperature. Some important points to be considered for designing cooling schemes for regeneratively cooled rocket engine combustor have been drawn and reviewed from present study and further verification of the analysis tool should be performed in the future.
In a liquid rocket engine, the role of gas-liquid scheme injector as an acoustic resonator or absorber is studied experimentally for combustion stability by adopting linear acoustic test. The acoustic-pressure signals or responses from the chamber are monitored by acoustic amplitude. Acoustic behavior in a rocket combustor with a single injector is investigated and the acoustic-damping effect of the injector is evaluated for cold condition by the quantitative parameter of damping factor as a function of injector length. From the experimental data, it is found that the injector can play a significant role in acoustic damping when it is tuned finely. The optimum tuning-length of the injector to maximize the damping capacity is near half of a full wavelength of the first longitudinal overtone mode traveling in the injector with the acoustic frequency intended for damping in the chamber. When the injector has large diameter, the phenomenon of the mode split is observed near the optimum injector length and thereby, the acoustic-damping effect of the tuned injectors can be degraded.

In this study, the cooling characteristics of combustion gas were investigated by injecting liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$) into a liquid rocket combustion chamber, which uses liquid oxygen (Lox) and kerosene as propellants. $LN_2$ injectors and an extended chamber for mixing were installed at the end of the ordinary LRE combustion chamber, and a nozzle was installed after the chamber for mixing. First, an ignition test of the liquid rocket engine was conducted to verify the stable combustion process. Next, a hot firing test was performed step-by-step for safety. Finally, the test was performed for 20 s. The results showed that the combustion gas of the LRE could be successfully cooled by using $LN_2$.
High pressure combustion with multiphase--liquid, gas, and supercritical phase--mixtures are widely used technology in the high efficiency liquid propellent rocket engine. This is the typical characteristics differentiate from the combustor of conventional air-breathing engines. Therefore, successful research of high pressure combustion at supercritical condition is essential to develope a high efficiency liquid rocket engine. Numerical studies have been carried out to explore capabilities of numerical method for LOx-CH4 non-premixed flames at high pressure. In this paper, corresponding numerical results are presented and compared with experimental result of MASCOTTE facility.

Acoustic coupling between combustion chamber and gas-liquid scheme injectors are studied numerically in liquid rocket engine adopting linear acoustic analysis. The injectors can play a role as half-wave resonators. The combustion chamber with numerous injectors shows peculiar acoustic coupling with the injectors. As the injector length approaches a half wavelength or the original tuning length, new injector-coupled acoustic modes show up in the chamber and thereby, the acoustic-damping effect of the tuned injectors is appreciably degraded.

A gas generator which generates turbine driving gas by burning a part of propellants is used in an open cycle liquid rocket engine and as a main component of an open cycle liquid rocket engine autonomous hot firing tests are required to investigate the combustion performance and characteristics of the gas generator. However, since the combustion gas generated by a gas generator is choked at the turbine nozzle in the turbine manifold, it is necessary to consider the internal volume of turbine manifold as well as that of the gas generator for correct investigation of the combustion performance, characteristics, and acoustic characteristics of the gas generator. Therefore, in the paper hot firing test results of a gas generator with a turbine manifold simulator are described and characteristic prediction using the autonomous test of a gas generator is explained.

The performance of 75 ton liquid rocket engine combustion chamber for a space launch vehicle was predicted through firing tests at low pressure. In low pressure tests of 75 ton LRE combustor chamber, the combustion characteristic velocity of 1750 m/sec and the specific impulse of 240 sec were obtained which are higher than the low pressure performance of 30ton combustion chamber. The combustion characteristic velocity of 1770 m/sec and the specific impulse of 278 sec at design point for 75 ton LRE combustion chamber were predicted by using the low/high pressure performance correlation of 30ton LRE combustion chamber.

Spinning process is generally used for manufacturing axisymmetrical, thin-walled thickness and hollow circular cross-section parts. Traditional spinning technology is classified to conventional spinning and power spinning(shear spinning and flow forming). Literature surveys of spinning application for regenerative cooling chamber and divergent nozzle of liquid propellent rocket thrust chamber have been conducted. Most spinning technology has been used mandel for manufacturing chamber and nozzle. Recently, hot spinning has been used much compared to traditional cold spinning.
