Three-dimensional transient simulation of laser-GMA hybrid welding involving multiple physical phenomena is conducted neglecting the interaction effect of laser and arc heat sources. To reproduce the bubble and pore formations in welding process, a new bubble model is suggested and added to the established laser and arc welding models comprehending VOF, Gaussian laser and arc heat source, recoil pressure, arc pressure, electromagnetic force, surface tension, multiple reflection and Fresnel reflection models. Based on the models mentioned above, simulations of laser-GMA hybrid butt welding are carried out and besides the molten pool flow, top and back bead formations could be observed. In addition, the laser induced keyhole formation and bubble generation duo to keyhole collapse are investigated. The bubbles are ejected from the molten pool through its top and bottom regions. However, some of those are entrapped by solid-liquid interface and remained as pores. Those bubbles and pores are intensively generated when the absorption of laser power is largely reduced and consequently the full penetration changes to the partial penetration.
SiC nanorod was synthesized directly on Si substrate using hexamethyldisilabutane and Fe catalyst with (111) direction. Fe acted a liquid catalyst at growth condition. Grown SiC nanorod has about 30nm diameter and $5{\mu}m$ length. SiC nanorod growth was divided by trro regions with diameter distribution. This diameter distribution were occurred by surface deposition at as - grown nanorod's surface by limitation of growth rate. At higher temperature, these division not occurred. Growth temperature and flow rates affected diameter and morphology of nanorods. With increasing flow rate of source gas, nanorod's diameter increased because of deactivation effect. Case of the increasing temperature, growth rate increased so deactivation did not occurred.
Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) buffer layers were deposited by a metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) technique using single liquid source for the application of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) coated conductor. Y:Zr mole ratio was 0.2:0.8, and tetrahydrofuran (THF) was used as a solvent. The (100) single crystal MgO substrate was used for searching deposition condition. Bi-axially oriented CeO$_2$ and NiO films were fabricated on {100}〈001〉 Ni substrate by the same method and used as templates. At a constant working pressure of 10 Torr, the deposition temperatures (660~80$0^{\circ}C$) and oxygen flow rates (100~500 sccm) were changed to find the optimum deposition condition. The best (100) oriented YSZ film on MgO was obtained at 74$0^{\circ}C$ and $O_2$ flow rate of 300 sccm. For YSZ buffer layer with this deposition condition on CeO$_2$/Ni template, full width half maximum (FWHM) values of the in-plane and out-of-plane alignments were 10.6$^{\circ}$ and 9.8$^{\circ}$, respectively. The SEM image of YSZ film on CeO$_2$/Ni showed surface morphologies without microcrack.k.
Fluid temperature fluctuations in a mixing tee pipe were numerically analyzed by LES model in order to clarify internal turbulent flows and to develope an evaluation method for high-cycle thermal fatigue. Hot and cold water with an temperature difference $40^{\circ}C$ were supplied to the mixing tee. Fluid temperature fluctuations in a mixing tee pipe is analysed by using the computational fluid dynamics code, FLUENT, Temperature fluctuations of the fluid and pipe wall measured as the velocity ratio of the flow in the branch pipe to that in the main pipe was varied from 0.05 to 5.0. The power spectrum method was used to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient. The fluid temperature characteristics were dependent on the velocity ratio, rather than the absolute value of the flow velocity. Large fluid temperature fluctuations were occurred near the mixing tee, and the fluctuation temperature frequency was random. The ratios of the measured heat transfer coefficient to that evaluated by Dittus-Boelter's empirical equation were independent of the velocity ratio, The multiplier ratios were about from 4 to 6.

This simulation first allows us to define a transition zone from a bubble to jet mode of the argon out-flow and hereinafter to define a similar area for water-steam leak in the KALIMER SG (Korea Advanced Liquid Metal Reactor Steam Generator) using a water mock-up system, taking into account the KALIMER leak classification and tube bundle design, as a simulation of a real water-steam into sodium leak. in accordance with leak conditions in the KALIMER SG, the transition from bubbling to jetting is studied by means of turbulence regime simulation for argon out-flow through a very small orifice, which has the equivalent diameter of about 0.253 mm. finally the noise generation mechanism is explained from the existing experimental data. We also confirmed the possibility of micro-leak detection from the information of the bubbling mode through simulations and the experiment in this study.
YB $a_2$C $u_3$$O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) films were deposited on (100) SrTi $O_3$ single crystal substrates by a metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system of hot-wall type using single liquid source. Under the condition of the mole ratio of Y(tmhd)$_3$:Ba(tmhd)$_2$:Cu(tmhd)$_2$= 1:2.1:2.9. the deposition pressure of 10 Torr. the MO source line speed of 15 cm/min. the Ar/ $O_2$ flow rate of 800/800 sccm. YBCO films were prepared at the deposition temperatures of 780∼89$0^{\circ}C$. In case of the YBCO films with 2.2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness deposited for 6 minutes at 86$0^{\circ}C$. XRD pattern showed complete c-axis growth and SEM morphology showed dense and crack-free surface. The atomic ratios of Ba/Y and Cu/Ba in the film were 1.92 and 1.56. respectively. The deposition rate of the film was as high as 0.37 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/min. The critical temperature ( $T_{c.zero}$) of the film was 87K. The critical current of the film was 104 A/cm-width. and the critical current density was 0.47 MA/$\textrm{cm}^2$. For the thinner film of 1.3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness. the critical current density of 0.62 MA/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was obtained.d.
An accurate prediction of the pressure drop along the flow paths is crucial in the design of advanced passive systems cooled by heavy liquid metal coolants. To date, a generic pressure drop correlation over spacer grids by Rehme has been applied extensively, which was obtained from substantial experimental data with multiple types of components. However, a few experimental studies have reported that the correlation may give large discrepancies. To provide a more reliable correlation for ring-type spacer grids, the current numerical study aims at figuring out the most critical factor among four hypothetical parameters, namely the flow area blockage ratio, number of fuel rods, type of fluid, and thickness of the spacer grid in the flow direction. Through a set of computational fluid dynamics simulations, we observed that the flow area blockage ratio dominantly influences the pressure loss characteristics, and thus its dependence should be more emphasized, whereas the other parameters have little impact. Hence, we suggest a new correlation for the drag coefficient as CB = Cν,m/ε2.7, where Cν,m is formulated by a nonlinear fit of simulation data such that Cν,m = -11.33 ln(0.02 ln(Reb)).
The research on the flow and heat transfer characteristics of lead bismuth(LBE) is significant for the thermal-hydraulic calculation, safety analysis and practical application of lead-based fast reactors(LFR). In this paper, a new CFD model is proposed to solve the thermal-hydraulic analysis of LBE. The model includes two parts: turbulent model and turbulent Prandtl, which are the important factors for LBE. In order to find the best model, the experiment data and design of 19-pin hexagonal rod bundle with spacer grid, undertaken at the Karlsruhe Liquid Metal Laboratory (KALLA) are used for CFD calculation. Furthermore, the turbulent model includes SST k - 𝜔 and k - 𝜀; the turbulent Prandtl includes Cheng-Tak and constant (Prt =1.5,2.0,2.5,3.0). Among them, the combination between SST k - 𝜔 and Cheng-Tak is more suitable for the experiment. But in the low Pe region, the deviation between the experiment data and CFD result is too much. The reason may be the inlet-effect and when Pe is in a low level, the number of molecular thermal diffusion occupies an absolute advantage, and the buoyancy will enhance. In order to test and verify versatility of the model, the NCCL performed by the Nuclear Thermal-hydraulic Laboratory (Nuthel) of Xi'an Jiao tong University is used for CFD to calculate. This paper provides two verification examples for the new universal model.

In 1his paper, applicability of laser welding to joining process of single crystal nickel base superalloy turbine blades was investigated. Because heat input of laser welding is more precisely controlled 1han TIG welding, it is possible to optimize solidification microstructure of the welds. Since in single crystal nickel base superalloy the crystal orientation have a significant effect on the strength, it is important to control the solidification microstructure in the fusion zone. A single crystal nickel base supera1loy, CMSX-4, plates were bead-on welded and butt welded using a $CO_2$ laser. The effects of microstructure and crystal orientation on properties of the weld joints were investigated. In bead-on weldling, welding directions were deviated from the base metal [100] direction by 0, 5, 15 and 30 degrees. The welds with deviation angles of 15 and 30 degrees showed fusion zone transverse cracks. As the deviation angles became larger, the fusion zone had more cracking. In the cross section microstructure, the fusion zone grains in 0 and 5 degrees welds grew epitaxially from the base metal spins except for the bead neck regions. The grains in the bead neck regions contained stray crystals. As deviation angles increased, number of the stray crystals increased. In butt welding, the declinations of the crystal orientation of the two base metals varied 0, 5 and 10 degrees. All beads had no cracks. In the 5 degrees bead, the cross section and surface microstructures showed that the fusion zone grains grew epitaxially from the base metal grains. However, the 10 degrees bead, the bead cross section and surface contained the stray crystals in the center of the welds. Orientations of the stray crystals accorded with the heat flow directions in the weld pool. When the welding direction was deviated from the base metal [100] direction, cracks appeared in the area including the stray crystals. The cracks developed along the grain boundaries of the stray crystals with high angles in the final solidification regions at the center of the welds. The fracture surfaces were covered with liquid film. The cracks, therefore, found to be solidification cracks due to the presence of low melting eutectic. As the results, in both bead-on welding and butt welding the deviation angles should be control within 5 degrees for preventing the fusion zone cracks. To investigate the mechanical properties of the weld joints, high temperature tensile tests for bead-on welds with deviation angles of 0 and 5 degrees and the butt welds with dec1ination angles of 0, 5 and 10 degrees were conducted at 1123K. The the tensile strength of all weld joints were more 1han 800MPa that is almost 80% of the tensile strength of the base metal. The strength of the laser weld joints were more than twice that of tue TIG weld joints with a filler metal of Inconel 625. The results reveals 1hat laser welding is more effective joining process for single crystal nickelbase superalloy turbine blades 1han TIG welding.
