Analysis of I/O Response Time Throughout NVMe Driver Implementation Architectures (NVMe 드라이버 구현 방식에 따른 I/O 응답시간 분석)

  • In recent years, non-volatile memory express (NVMe), a new host controller interface standard, has been adapted to overcome performance bottlenecks caused by the acceleration of solid state drives (SSD). Recently, performance breakthrough cases over AHCI based SATA SSDs by adapting NVMe based PCI Express (PCIe) SSD to servers and PCs have been reported. Furthermore, replacing legacy eMMC-flash storage with NVMe based storage is also considered for next generation of mobile devices such as smartphones. The Linux kernel includes drivers for NVMe support, and as the kernel version increases, the implementation of the NVMe driver code has changed. However, mobile devices are often equipped with older versions of Android operating systems (OSes), where the newest features of NVMe drivers are not available. Therefore, different features of different NVMe driver implementations are not well evaluated on Android OSes. In this paper, we analyze the response time of the NVMe driver for various Linux kernel version.

An Implementation of the Embedded Linux System on the Wireless Network using Ad hoc PCMCIA Interface (Ad hoc 방식의 PCMCIA 접속에 의한 리눅스 기반의 무선 네트워크 시스템 구현)

  • An embedded system is implemented in this work by removing PCMCIA dedicate controller chip from ARM processor based embedded Linux system. In this paper, we propose PCMCIA interface architecture by using Ad hoc methods for wireless network. The proposed system is developed based on S3C2410A processor and it is interfaced with PCMCIA socket by using combinational digital logic circuits. It is interesting to observe that Ad hoc interface provides $97.9%{\sim}102.49%$ performance when compared with dedicate controller systems. The results indicate that the proposed method simplifies the system without loss of performance.

  • Recently, with the ever-increasing complexity of industrial robot systems, it has been greatly attention to adopt a multi-core based motion controller with high cost-performance ratio. In this paper, we propose a software architecture that aims to utilize the computing power of multi-core processors. The key concept of our architecture is to use shared memory for the interplay between threads running on separate processor cores. And then, we have integrated our proposed architecture with an industrial standard compliant IDE for automatic code generation of motion runtime. For the performance evaluation, we constructed a test-bed consisting of a motion controller with Preempt-RT Linux based dual-core industrial PC and a 3-axis industrial robot platform. The experimental results show that the actuation time difference between axes is 10 ns in average and bounded up to 689 ns under $1000{\mu}s$ control period, which can come up with real-time performance for industrial robot.

  • In this paper, Web server is built up using PXA255, 32bit RISC processor with porting Embedded Linux and GoAhead HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) web server, and the system which can monitor and control the environment and condition for AICC(Automatic Intelligent Cruise Control) is realized For sensing the operation condition and change of vehicle the desired data is derived by interfacing ECU(Electric Control Unit) and Embedded system and the rpm of engine is controlled by step motor connected to throttle valve.

  • In this paper, we've studied multi axis control system using embedded web server which is controlling and monitoring the state data of moors. NanoWit2 Board has been ported Linux Operating System and fabricated Web Sorrel by GCC. Motion controller is used MCS-40 of e-MOTION Tek Co., Ltd. which receiving control signal, controlling motors and sending the state data to Web Server.

  • In this paper, shared memory feature was developed in multi-core system with different OS for different processor-specific bus, while conducting an experiment on shared memory feature between the two processors based on embedded Linux system. For the purpose of developing shared memory in dual bus structure, memory controller was used, while managing shared memory segment through list data structure. For AMP multi-core test, Linux OS was installed in 2 processor cores. In addition, it verified the creation and use of shared memory by using kernel module implemented to test shared memory.

  • Recently embedded systems are widely used in various industrial fields as supervisory controller because they have many merits. One of merits seems to be that operating environment of embedded system is the same as development environment using PC. That makes developing and manufacturing period shorten and also proper time to market Most of all machinery have sequential control system for their maneuvering which is composed of relays. contacts. timers. etc. In this paper. software sequential control system is proposed to be able to replace hardware sequential control system by using embedded system A lot of merits by the software sequential control system can be expected in the respect of economic reproduction, intelligent technologies and utilities, And porting of LINUX operating system to embedded system is carried out and device drivers and interface boards for LINUX 05 are designed for controlling air compressor by software Internet remote control and monitoring system of air compressor is implemented with Java script and CGI for these purposes. The experiment for operating air compressor system is taken through internet networks. The results show that developed system can be used for real plant.

  • Traffic Signal Evaluation HILS is a system designed to evaluate a traffic signal system, and has a function of driving that simulates a real environment using a simulator that simulates a real traffic signal environment and an LCS that simulates a traffic signal controller. This study simulates the function of the traffic signal controller and is designed for design the LCS which is connected to the center system and the traffic simulator (VISSIM). The design of the LCS program uses a portable python language, and the code is designed in two versions running on Windows in the PC environment and unning on embedded environment, with a slight modification of the code. In this study, we analyzed the limitations of using LCS on Windows in PC environment and confirmed the ease of simulation Linux in embedded environment at large capacity.

  • In this paper, we designed and built a wired temperature controller system which is based on ASIC for a wireless temperature controller system based on FPGA. FPGA devices and wireless controller systems are growing quickly especially for industrial systems for sensing temperature and humidity. FPGA can set up a desired system and a CPU, and directly set up or change a peripheral device based on an IP quickly for an affordable price. This wireless system is easy to install in the field where there are lots of changes and the system is complex. It also has advantages for maintenance. In this study, we are using a 32 bit RISC CPU based on MicroBlaze, with a touch interface, peripheral device, and porting the embedded Linux. Also, we added wireless communication using ZigBee. With this system we provide remote monitoring and control through the web by adding a web server. Compared to the original system, we say not only a performance improvement, but also more efficient development and cheaper costs. In this study, we focused especially on building a better development environment and a more effective user interface.
