Despite extensive research on R-trees, most of the proposed schemes have not been integrated into existing DBMS due to the lack of protocol to provide consistency in concurrent environment. R-link tree is an acceptable data structure to deal with this issue., but still not enough. In this paper, we focus on a simplified predicate locking mechanism based on R-link tree for concurrency control and phantom protection. An in-memory operation control list (OCList) used to suspend some conflicting operations is designed here. The main features of this approach are (1) it can be implemented easily and do not need any extra information. (2) Only-one-lock is held when descending R-tree even when node split happens, while lock-coupling scheme is performed when ascending. No deadlocks are possible. (3) Searches and insertions are not unnecessarily restricted. (4) Insert and Delete phantom in R-link tree are avoid through beforehand predication.
The bonding structure of organic materials such as fluorinated amorphous carbon films was classified into two types due to the chemical shifts. The electrical properties of fluorinated amorphous carbon films also showed very different effect of two types notwithstanding a very little difference. Fluorinated amorphous carbon films with the cross-link breakage structure existed large leakage current resulting from effect of the electron tunneling. Increasing the cation due to the electron-deficient group increased the barrier height of the films with the cross-link amorphous structure, therefore the electric characteristic of the final materials with low dielectric constant was also improved. The lowest dielectric constant is 2.3 at the sample with the cross-link amorphous structure.
In this study, we develop the Genetic Fuzzy System(GFS) to estimate the link traveling speed. Based on the genetic algorithm, we can get the fuzzy rules and membership functions that reflect more accurate correlation between traffic data and speed. From the fact that there exist missing links that lack traffic data, we added a Case Base Reasoning(CBR) to GFS to support estimating the speed of missing links. The case base stores the fuzzy rules and membership functions as its instances. As cases are accumulated, the case base comes to offer appropriate cases to missing links. Experiments show that the proposed GFS provides the more accurate estimation of link traveling speed than existing methods.
This paper studies the performance of multiuser data networks with transmit diversity under correlated fading channels. Previous work shows that correlated fading reduces the link performance of multiple antenna systems, but how correlated fading affects the throughput of multiuser data networks is still unknown since the throughput depends not only on the link performance but also on the multiuser diversity. We derive the throughput of the multiuser data networks with various transmit diversity schemes under correlated fading channels. The impact of correlated fading on the throughput is investigated. Analytical and simulation results show that, although correlated fading is harmful for link performance, it increases the throughput of the multiuser data networks if the transmit scheme is appropriately selected.

A dispersion map was proposed to improve the compensation effect of a distorted WDM (wavelength division multiplexed) channel in a dispersion-managed link coupled with optical phase conjugation. The dispersion map is an origin-symmetric structure around the optical phase conjugator in the middle of the transmission path. In addition, the dispersion map has a form in which a constant dispersion accumulation pattern is repeated regularly. Through simulation, we confirmed that the application of the origin-symmetric dispersion map with a repetitively shaped configuration was more effective in compensating for the distorted WDM channel than in the dispersion-managed link with a conventional dispersion map. In addition, we confirmed that the compensation effect could be increased when the cumulative dispersion distribution of the origin-symmetric distribution map had a positive value in the first half section and a negative value in the second half section. Further, we observed that as the number of repeated dispersion accumulation patterns increased, the residual dispersion per span should also be increased.
With the large amount of complex network data that is increasingly available on the Web, link prediction has become a popular data-mining research field. The focus of this paper is on a link-prediction task that can be formulated as a binary classification problem in complex networks. To solve this link-prediction problem, a sparse-classification algorithm called "Truncated Kernel Projection Machine" that is based on empirical-feature selection is proposed. The proposed algorithm is a novel way to achieve a realization of sparse empirical-feature-based learning that is different from those of the regularized kernel-projection machines. The algorithm is more appealing than those of the previous outstanding learning machines since it can be computed efficiently, and it is also implemented easily and stably during the link-prediction task. The algorithm is applied here for link-prediction tasks in different complex networks, and an investigation of several classification algorithms was performed for comparison. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperformed the compared algorithms in several key indices with a smaller number of test errors and greater stability.
Effective link quality estimation is a vital issue for reliable routing in wireless networks. This paper studies the performance of expected transmission count (ETX) under different traffic loads. Although ETX shows good performance under light load, its performance gets significantly worse when the traffic load is high. A broadcast packet storm due to new route discoveries severely affects the link ETX values under high traffic load, which makes it difficult to find a good path. This paper presents the design and implementation of a variation of ETX called high load - ETX (HETX), which reduces the impact of route request broadcast packets to link metric values under high load. We also propose a reliable routing protocol using link quality metrics, which is called link quality distance vector (LQDV). We conducted the evaluation of the performance of three metrics - HETX, ETX and minimum hop-count. The simulation results show that HETX improves the average route throughput by up to 25% over ETX under high traffic load. Minimum hop-count has poor performance compared with both HETX and ETX at all of the different traffic loads. Under light load, HETX and ETX show the same performance.

In-band Full-duplex (IBFD) wireless communication allows improved throughput for wireless networks. The current Half-duplex (HD) medium access mechanism Request to Send/Clear to Send (RTS/CTS) has been directly applied to IBFD wireless networks. However, this is only able to support a symmetric dual link, and does not provide the full advantages of IBFD. To increase network throughput in a superior way to the HD mechanism, a novel three-way handshaking access mechanism RTS/SRTS (Second Request to Send)/CTS is proposed for point to multipoint (PMP) IBFD wireless networks, which can support both symmetric dual link and asymmetric dual link communication. In this approach, IBFD wireless communication only requires one channel access for two-way simultaneous packet transmissions. We first describe the RTS/SRTS/CTS mechanism and the symmetric/asymmetric dual link transmission procedure and then provide a theoretical analysis of network throughput and delay using a Markov model. Using simulations, we demonstrate that the RTS/SRTS/CTS access mechanism shows improved performance relative to that of the RTS/CTS HD access mechanism.
