  • Wireless sensor networks are installed in various environments and collect sensing data through wireless links. The quality of a wireless link may be unstable due to environment causes and hardware performance in wireless sensor networks. Since the change of the link quality may cause data loss, sensor nodes need to adaptively estimate the change of the link quality. Also, the routing protocol should deal with this situation. In this paper, the adaptive link quality estimation and routing scheme in the large-scale wireless sensor networks are proposed. When the quality of a link is unstable, sensor nodes agilely estimate the quality of links, and the new route is selected. When quality of a link is stable, the link quality is occasionally estimated so that the energy consumption is reduced. Moreover, sensor nodes exchange less beacons in order to reduce an overhead in dense networks. In the case of sparse network, the sensor nodes exchange more beacons for finding a better route. We prove that the proposed scheme can improve the energy efficiency and reliability.

  • This paper proposes an automatic method for discovering cross-lingual links from English Wikipedia documents to Korean ones in order to increase connectivity among vast web resources. Compared to the existing methods roughly estimating link probability of phrases, candidate anchors are selected from English documents by using various information such as title lists and linking probability extracted from Wikipedia dumps and the results of named-entity recognition, and the anchors are translated into Korean words, and then the most suitable Korean documents with the words are selected as cross-lingual links. The experimental results showed 0.375 of MAP.

  • This paper describes link analysis on the processed data, HRIT (High Rate Information Transmission) and LRIT (Low Rate Information Transmission), for the preliminary design of interface between COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) and ground station. At the MODAC (MeteorologicaVOcean Data Application Center), the processed data are transmitted to user station via COMS with normalization and calibration by pre-processing of MI (Meteorological Imager) data. Due to consider satellite as radio relay, overall analysis containing uplink and downlink is needed. Specific link parameters can be obtained with using the outcomes of SRR (System Requirement Review) which was held on 13-14 June 2005, in Toulouse. From the relation between overall link margin and output power of HPA (High Power Amplifier) of MODAC, it is shown that even though the minimum power related with COMS receiving power range is transmitted at MODAC, the obtained link margin of HRIT could be above 3 dB at user station which antenna elevation angle is 10 degree.

  • 'Commit-bug link', the link between commit history and bug reports, is used for software maintenance and defect prediction in bug tracking systems. Previous studies have shown that the links are automatically detected based on text similarity, time interval, and keyword. Existing approaches depend on the quality of commit history and could thus miss several links. In this paper, we proposed a technique to link commit and bug report using not only messages of commit history, but also the similarity of files in the commit history coupled with bug reports. The experimental results demonstrated the applicability of the suggested approach.

  • Weighted network link prediction is a challenge issue in complex network analysis. Unsupervised methods based on local structure are widely used to handle the predictive task. However, the results are still far from satisfied as major literatures neglect two important points: common neighbors produce different influence on potential links; weighted values associated with links in local structure are also different. In this paper, we adapt an effective link prediction model-local naive Bayes model into a weighted scenario to address this issue. Correspondingly, we propose a weighted local naive Bayes (WLNB) probabilistic link prediction framework. The main contribution here is that a weighted cluster coefficient has been incorporated, allowing our model to inference the weighted contribution in the predicting stage. In addition, WLNB can extensively be applied to several classic similarity metrics. We evaluate WLNB on different kinds of real-world weighted datasets. Experimental results show that our proposed approach performs better (by AUC and Prec) than several alternative methods for link prediction in weighted complex networks.

  • Document image binarization is an important pre-processing step in document analysis and archiving. The state-of-the-art models for document image binarization are variants of encoder-decoder architectures, such as FCN (fully convolutional network) and U-Net. Despite their success, they still suffer from three limitations: (1) reduced feature map resolution due to consecutive strided pooling or convolutions, (2) multiple scales of target objects, and (3) reduced localization accuracy due to the built-in invariance of deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs). To overcome these three challenges, we propose an improved semantic segmentation model, referred to as DP-LinkNet, which adopts the D-LinkNet architecture as its backbone, with the proposed hybrid dilated convolution (HDC) and spatial pyramid pooling (SPP) modules between the encoder and the decoder. Extensive experiments are conducted on recent document image binarization competition (DIBCO) and handwritten document image binarization competition (H-DIBCO) benchmark datasets. Results show that our proposed DP-LinkNet outperforms other state-of-the-art techniques by a large margin. Our implementation and the pre-trained models are available at https://github.com/beargolden/DP-LinkNet.

  • Network resilience provides an effective way to overcome the problem of network failure and is crucial to Internet protocol (IP) network management. As one of the main challenges in network resilience, recovering from link failure is important to maintain the constancy of packets being transmitted. However, existing failure recovery approaches do not handle the traffic engineering problem (e.g., tuning the routing-protocol parameters to optimize the rerouting traffic flow), which may cause serious congestions. Moreover, as the lack of QoS (quality of service) restrictions may lead to invalid rerouting traffic, the QoS requirements (e.g., bandwidth and delay) should also be taken into account when recovering the failed links. In this paper, we first develop a probabilistically correlated failure model that can accurately reflect the correlation between link failures, with which we can choose reliable backup paths (BPs). Then we construct a mathematical model for the failure recovery problem, which takes maximum rerouting traffic as the optimizing objective and the QoS requirements as the constraints. Moreover, we propose a heuristic algorithm for link failure recovery, which adopts the improved k shortest path algorithm to splice the single BP and supplies more protection resources for the links with higher priority. We also prove the correctness of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, the time and space complexity are also analyzed. Simulation results under NS2 show that the proposed algorithm improves the link failure recovery rate and increases the QoS satisfaction rate significantly.

  • This study is to estimate the link travel time of road networks in urban areas utilizing traffic information which is collected throughout the operation of Bus Information System (BIS). BIS, which applies the hightech information technology to an existing bus system, has been developing and operating in many bodies including the local self-government entities. However, a study to consider the technology trend is relatively rare. Even though some useful traffic informations have been collected throughout the operation of an existing BIS, which set limits to the development of a future service of integrated analysis. Accordingly, in this study, a fundamental research is performed for traffic controls in urban areas and providing a traffic information for driver throughout the estimation of link travel time of road networks. The study is proceeded throughout the data collected from the operation of BIS (Bus Information System). The result showed that the patterns of going through traffic were divided up to 2 in the bus travel time in BIS then estimate two link travel time.

But it is possible to occur misalignment between LE(Local Exchange) and AN(Access Network), especially in link identification procedure because there isn't any comment about V5.2 system management. In this paper we propose S/W guard timer to improve reliability in V5.2 link identification procedure in scope of Recommendation.

  • The Tactical Data Link System(TDLS) is a standardized communication link to exchange and interface positional, situational information, command and control in real time. It has been evaluated that the link would play an important role for tactical interoperability, situation awareness, and execution of joint operations in the future war. This work presents how to embody the TDLS through the systems engineering approach on the base of TDLS operating concept analysis of helicopters-groud units.
