A study on the dynamic response of single-storey steel frames equipped with a rotational friction damper is presented. Extensive testing was carried out for assessing the friction pad material, damper unit performance and foaled model frame response to lateral harmonics excitation. Numerical simulations based on non-linear time history analysis were used to evaluate the seismic behaviour of steel frames with rotational frictional damper. It Is demonstrated that using discrete friction dampers of proper parameters to link steel frame can reduce dynamic response significantly.
In this paper, Nonlinear VSS control based on bang-bang control concept is derived under the assumption that the control input is bounded. We try to derive control algorithm which has almost same performance as the time optimal control. We focus this control scheme on the real implementation of DC motor position controller of flexible link, i.e. we obtain the switching curves from the real data of DC motor system operating under the full maximum and minimum applied voltages. State space is separated into several regions and we set different switching surfaces in each region to reduce chattering problem. The efficiency of the proposed controller is compared with PID controller and it is shown that the controller converges fast than PID controller without chattering. The hybrid controller scheme is also proposed not only to control the position of hub but also to reduce the vibration of end tip of flexible link.
Many of today´s robot are required to perform tasks which demand a high level of accuracy in end-effector positioning. Those rigid robots are very inefficient and slow because its have large and heavy links, In an attempt to solve these problems, a robots using flexible beam were created. But the single-link flexible beam is infinite-dimensional system. Many researchers have proposed controlling such a beam an approximated model consisting of a finite a number of models. In this paper, we start by deriving the analytic model for the dynamics of general single-link beam, and a controller is designed for flexible beam with integral type servo system bases of the linear matrix inequality (LM) technique. To the end, simulation results show that a designed controller guarantees affective vibration control the single-link flexible beam.
In this paper, an output feedback is used to reduce the effect of the vibration in the control of a flexible one-link robot arm. A PD control method with a time varying gain is proposed to improve the performance of the system in tip deflection and settling time for the step reference input. By making the change of feedback gain smoothly, th input torque can be made smooth. When there is a payload with unknown mass, an interpolation method which uses the inrehgrated value of the transient response of the hub angle is proposed for the estimation of teh payload mass. This method can be used when the reference input is known and we can get highly accurate estimate for the unknown payload. It is also demonstrated that flexible one-link arm can be controlled prettry accurately by an output feedback in a noisy environment without knowing the mass of the payload.
The position control accuracy of a robot arm is significantly deteriorated when a long slender arm robot is operated at a high speed. In this case, the robot arm needs to be modeled as a flexible structure, not a rigid one, and its control system needs to be designed with its elastic modes taken into account. In this paper, the vibration control scheme of a one-link flexible manipulator using adaptive input shaper in conjunction with PID controller is presented. The robot consists of a flexible arm manufactured with a thin aluminium plate, an AC servo motor with a harmonic drive for speed reduction, an optical encoder and an accelerometer. On-line identification of the vibration mode is done using the pruned decimation-in-time FFT algorithm to estimate the parameter of the input shaper. Experimental results of the flexible manipulator with a PID controller and input shaper are provided to show the effectiveness of the advocated controllers.
This purpose of this study was to design the effect of recovering of a hand amputees by myoelectronic hand. It was designed with 2 degree of freedom in tile laboratory. Myoelectronic hand had only one degree of freedom and one movement until now. Also this myoelectronic hand had multi-joint system. Myoelectronic hand data was obtained by measuring hand and data was applied when it was designed myoelectronic hand. PID controll of myoelectronic hand was used to it. Displacement control was applied the first link of finger. Experiment was accomlkished in Tip grasp, power grasp and Hook grasp modes. Displacement controll was good in low frequency. Velocity control was applied to each mode. This myoelectronic hand with a hand amputees could do some jobs such as grasping materials. Further studies were needed to evaluate the effect of a myoelectronic hand with more precise laboratory equipment.
In this paper, a control algorithm for DC-Link voltage unbalancing compensation of a four-switch inverter for a three-phase BLDC motor drive is proposed. Compared with a conventional six-switch inverter, the split source of the four-switch inverter can be obtained by splitting DC-link capacitor into two capacitors to drive the three phase BLDC motor. The voltages across each of two capacitors are not always equal in steady state because of the unbalance in the impedance of the DC-link capacitors $C_1$ and $C_2$ or the variable current flowed into the capacitor's neutral point in motor control. Despite the unbalance, if the BLDC motor may be run for a long time the voltage across one of the capacitors is more increased. So the unbalance in the capacitors voltages will be accelerated. As a result, The current ripple and torque ripple is increased due to the fluctuation of input current which flows into 3-phase BLDC motor. According to that, the vibration of motor will be increased and the whole system will be instable. This paper presents a control algorithm for DC-Link voltage unbalancing compensation. The sampling from the voltages across each of two capacitors is used to perform the voltage control of DC-Link by using the feedforward controller.
With the prevalent use of robot, the interests in moving speed of robot have been increasing for the purpose of upgrading performance of production. But the faster robot manipulator moves, the worse working accuracies are. And mechanical vibration is more and more serious with the increment of the moving speed of robot. So, the study on the cause and control method of robot vibration is one of the points of issue in robotics. This paper focuses on the vibration of 3 DOF parallel link drive mechanism robot. We assume that links of robot manipulator are `rigid' and joints are `flexible elements'. Governing equations of robot system including controller, servo amplifier, D.C servo motor, transmission with elasticity, and manipulator dynamics are derived. On the basis of modelling, we define `controller stiffness' by the proportional gain of controller and `stiffness of transmission'. Numerical and experimental research is performed to study vibration phenomena of robot induced from the variation of these two defined stiffnesses, and its results are shown.
Using cross-ties to connect cables together when forming a cable network is regarded as an efficient method of mitigating cable vibrations. Cross-ties have been extended and fixed on bridge decks or towers in some engineering applications. However, the dynamics of this kind of system need to be further studied, and the effects of extending cross-links to bridge decks/towers on the modal response of the system should be assessed in detail. In this paper, a system of two cables connected by an inter-supported cross-link with another lower cross-link extended to the ground is proposed and analyzed. The characteristic equation of the system is derived, and some limiting solutions in closed form of the system are derived. Roots of cable system with special configurations are also discussed, attention being given to the case when the two cables are identical. A predictable mode behavior was found when the stiffness of inter-connection cross-link and the cross-link extended to the ground were the same. The vector of mode energy distribution and the degree of mode localization index are proposed so as to distinguish global and local modes. The change of mode behaviors is further discussed in the case when the two cables are not identical. Effects of cross-link stiffness, cross-link location, mass-tension ratio, cable length ratio and frequency ratio on $1^{st}$ mode frequency and mode shape are addressed.
In this paper, we propose a method to apply the Input Shaping Technique (IST) to multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems. In MIMO systems, there is a high possibility of multi-mode residual vibration. The IST filter designed for this multi mode may need a longer time to suppress the residual vibration. Previous works prove that we can shorten the time lag by using negative sequence. This negative sequence, however, causes another problem - it requires excessive control input. In this paper, we provide a remedy to reduce the size of control input by limiting the reference input by limiting the reference input and its derivative. The result of simulations and experiments on a 2 link flexible arm confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.
