Food webs have received global attention as next-generation biomonitoring tools; however, it remains challenging because revealing trophic links between species is costly and laborious. Although a link-extrapolation method utilizing published trophic link data can address this difficulty, it has limitations when applied to construct food webs in domestic streams due to the lack of information on endemic species in global literature. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a link extrapolation-based food web model adapted to Korean stream ecosystems. We considered taxonomic similarity of predation and dominance of generalists in aquatic ecosystems, designing taxonomically higher-level matching methods: family matching for all fish (Family), endemic fish (Family-E), endemic fish playing the role of consumers (Family-EC), and resources (Family-ER). By adding the commonly used genus matching method (Genus) to these four matching methods, a total of five matching methods were used to construct 103 domestic food webs. Predictive power of both individual links and food web indices were evaluated by comparing constructed food webs with corresponding empirical food webs. Results showed that, in both evaluations, proposed methods tended to perform better than Genus in a data-poor environment. In particular, Family-E and Family-EC were the most effective matching methods. Our model addressed domestic data scarcity problems when using a link-extrapolation method. It offers opportunities to understand stream ecosystem food webs and may provide novel insights into biomonitoring.
PURPOSES : In link matching using vehicular trajectory in a car navigation system, it is technically difficult to match the location of the subject vehicle with a link on an electronic map in the vehicle on a grade separation highway segment consisting of an elevated highway and atgrade highway, because of the overlap of geometric lines of the two highways. This study was initiated to propose a link matching algorithm using the characteristics of vehicular movement of the subject vehicle. METHODS : The selected test site is the highway segment between Jeong-reung IC and Gil-eum IC where the Inner Circulation Road and Jeong-reung-ro run together. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, this study collected the raw packet data of vehicles that drove on the test site. In a simulation environment, link matching was performed using an existing algorithm as well as the proposed algorithm. RESULTS: It was clearly found that the characteristics of vehicular movements are different on the two highways. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed algorithm outperformed the existing algorithm.

Nowadays, owing to the development of techniques for collecting geographic information, an increasing need is thus appearing: integrating heterogeneous databases. This paper proposes an algorithm for finding matching relationship between two node sets in road network data. We found the corresponding node pair using link shape linked with them as well as their location. The accuracy of matching was grown by this process. Result then can be used to reflect the topological information in performing link matching.
A capacitive wireless power transfer (C-WPT) system uses an electric field to transmit power through a physical isolation barrier which forms a pair of ac link capacitors between the metal plates. However, the physical dimension and low dielectric constant of the interface medium severely limit the effective link capacitance to a level comparable to the main switch output capacitance of the transmitting circuit, which thus narrows the soft-switching range in the light load condition. Moreover, by fundamental limit analysis, it can be proved that such a low link capacitance increases operating frequency and capacitor voltage stress in the full load condition. In order to handle these problems, this paper investigates optimal design of double matching transformer networks for C-WPT. Using mathematical analysis with fundamental harmonic approximation, a design guideline is presented to avoid unnecessarily high frequency operation, to suppress the voltage stress on the link capacitors, and to achieve wide ZVS range even with low link capacitance. Simulation and hardware implementation are performed on a 5-W prototype system equipped with a 256-pF link capacitance and a 200-pF switch output capacitance. Results show that the proposed scheme ensures zero-voltage-switching from full load to 10% load, and the switching frequency and the link capacitor voltage stress are kept below 250 kHz and 452 V, respectively, in the full load condition.
This paper presents a new stereo matching technique which is based on the matching of feature windows and feature links. The proposed method uses the FAST feature detector to find image features in stereo images and determines the correspondences of the detected features in the stereo images. We define a feature window which is an image region containing several image features. The proposed technique consists of two matching steps. First, a feature window is defined in a standard image and its correspondence is found in a reference image. Second, the corresponding features between the matched windows are determined by using the feature link technique. If there is no correspondence for an image feature in the standard image, it's disparity is interpolated by neighboring feature sets. We evaluate the accuracy of the proposed technique by comparing our results with the ground truth of in a stereo image database. We also compare the matching accuracy and computation time with two conventional feature-based stereo matching techniques.

This study materialized an FPGA-based system to extract PCB patterns. The Printed Circuit Boards that are produced these days are becoming more detailed and complex. Therefore, the importance of a vision system to extract defects of detailed patterns is increasing. This study produced an FPGA-based system that has high speed handling for vision automation of the PCB production process. A vision library that is used to extract defect patterns was also materialized in IPs to optimize the system. The IPs materialized are Camera Link IP, pattern matching IP, VGA IP, edge extraction IP, and memory IP.
In this paper, a map-matching (MM) algorithm which combines an estimated position with digital road data is proposed. The presented algorithm using a virtual track is appropriate for a MEMS-based pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) system, which can be used in mobile devices. Most of the previous MM algorithms are for car navigation systems and GPS-based navigation system, so existing MM algorithms are not appropriate for the pure DR-based pedestrian navigation system. The biggest problem of previous MM algorithms is that they cannot determine the correct road segment (link) due to the DR characteristics. In DR-based navigation system, the current position is propagated from the previous estimated position. This means that the MM result can be placed on a wrong link when MM algorithm fails to decide the correct link at once. It is a critical problem. Previous algorithms never overcome this problem because they did not consider pure DR characteristics. The MM algorithm using the virtual track is proposed to overcome this problem with improved accuracy. Performance of the proposed MM algorithm was verified by experiments.

This study was conducted with the aim of developing a system to collect taxi GPS probe information to prevent link defects and to improve the accuracy of the standard link-based travel speed by determining when to go into and come out the link. For this purpose, a framework and algorithm consisting of a five-step process for standard link-based map matching and individual vehicle travel speed are presented and used it to calculate the average travel speed of the service link. Two on-site surveys of Teheran and Hakdong-ro were conducted to verify the results by the methods proposed in this paper. On the basis of the overall time of the field survey, the deviation in the travel speed was 0.2 km/h and 0.6 km/h, the accuracy was 99% and 96%, and the MAPE(Mean Absolute Percentage Error) was 1% and 4% in Teheran and Hakdong-ro, respectively. These results were more accurate thand those obtained using conventional methodologies without standard links.

In this paper, we demonstrate a Non-Foster matching method for an electrically small antenna to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of communication link. For the experiment, we used a general FM antenna whose resonance frequency is about 52-57 MHz and a floating type Linvill negative impedance converter(NIC)-based circuit as a Non-Foster matching element. By implementing the Non-Foster circuit to cover FM band, we can achieve a wide bandwidth matching covers 40-200 MHz. Our measurement shows 3-7 dB improvement of SNR for the same bandwidth though there are several spikes which means no improvement of SNR in the band.
Dynamic route guidance (DRG) finds the fastest path from a source to a destination location considering the real-time congestion information. In Korea, the traffic state information is available by the public transportation data (PTD) which is indexed on top of the node-link map (NLM). While the NLM is the authoritative low-detailed road network for major roads only, the OpenStreetMap road network (ORN) supports not only a high-detailed road network but also a few open-source routing engines, such as OSRM and Valhalla. In this paper, we propose a DRG framework based on road network matching between the NLM and ORN. This framework regularly retrieves the NLM-indexed PTD to construct a historical speed profile which is then mapped to ORN. Next, we extend the Valhalla routing engine to support dynamic routing based on the historical speed profile. The numerical results at the Yeoui-do island with collected 11-month PTD show that our DRG framework reduces the travel time up to 15.24 % and improves the estimation accuracy of travel time more than 5 times.
