Optimal Learning of Neo-Fuzzy Structure Using Bacteria Foraging Optimization

  • Fuzzy logic, neural network, fuzzy-neural network play an important as the key technology of linguistic modeling for intelligent control and decision in complex systems. The fuzzy-neural network (FNN) learning represents one of the most effective algorithms to build such linguistic models. This paper proposes bacteria foraging algorithm based optimal learning fuzzy-neural network (BA-FNN). The proposed learning scheme is the fuzzy-neural network structure which can handle linguistic knowledge as tuning membership function of fuzzy logic by bacteria foraging algorithm. The learning algorithm of the BA-FNN is composed of two phases. The first phase is to find the initial membership functions of the fuzzy neural network model. In the second phase, bacteria foraging algorithm is used for tuning of membership functions of the proposed model.

This paper proposes learning approach of fuzzy-neural network by immune algorithm. The proposed learning model is presented in an immune based fuzzy-neural network (FNN) form which can handle linguistic knowledge by immune algorithm. The learning algorithm of an immune based FNN is composed of two phases. The first phase used to find the initial membership functions of the fuzzy neural network model. In the second phase, a new immune algorithm based optimization is proposed for tuning of membership functions and structure of the proposed model.

The Language Determinant Analysis of Investment Among APEC Member Economies (APEC국가간 언어의 투자 결정요인 분석)

  • This study aims to establish ways of how languages are used as determination factors for investment decisions among Asian countries where used languages are diversified. According to the analysis result, language segmentation of the investing country increases investment whereas the language segmentation of the invested countries is analyzed as the decreasing factor of investment. Also, it is analyzed that the further the linguistic distance between the investing country and the invested country the more investment increases. In the aspects of approached language distance and investment time selection, along with the increased linguistic distance, the elasticity to foreign direct investment is apprehended to be more flexible than other forms of investment. Such result shows the more segmented the languages of the targeted invested country the more investment cost will increase and therefore the results in linguistic distance can be explained as diversification of the invested country and the result to the forming of bridgehead at the invested area.

  • In this paper, a novel computational approach for the stability analysis of the linguistic fuzzy system is proposed. The suggested analysis method is easily implemented by the recently spotlighted convex optimization techniques called Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI). Compared with the previous works, the new method proposed herein is more relaxed and is applicable to not only the stabilization problem but also to the set-point regulation problem. Finally, the applicability of the suggested methodology is highlighted via computer simulations.

  • 정보 검색 결과의 정확성을 높이기 위해서는 상위수준의 색인 정보를 이용한 검색 기법이 요구된다. 상위수준의 색인을 하기 위해서는 구문 분석을 이용할 필요가 있지만 웹 페이지를 이용하는 웹 검색에서는 웹 폐이지 자체의 오류 때문에 구문 분석을 할 때 실패할 확률이 높으므로 견고한 구문 분석이 요구된다. 본 논문은 구, 문장에 기반한 색인 기법 및 기존 색인 방법을 병행해서 사용하는 시스템에 대하여 소개한다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 시스템은 5가지 방법의 색인 기법을 사용한다. 각 색인 기법은 적용될 분야 또는 범위에 따라 선택적으로 사용될 수 있다. 색인 기법은 1)명사 색인 2)명사+용언 색인 3)명사+용언+문장정보 색인 4)명사구 색인 5)중심어-종속어(Head-Modifier) 색인으로 나누어진다. 색인 기법 중 4와 5의 경우, 구문 분석된 결과를 사용하여 특정 명사구 및 중심어-종속어 관계를 고려함으로써 문서의 특성을 잘 나타내는 색인어를 추출할 수 있고 그러므로 정보검색의 성능을 향상시키는 기반 기술로 사용될 수 있다.

  • 최근의 인터넷 정보검색은 방대한 정보의 수용과 지능적이고 개인화된 검색 결과 요구라는 사뭇 상반된 요구를 만족시켜야 한다. 기계적으로 키워드를 매칭시켜 나오는 문서를 사용자에게 맡기는 식의 검색은 더 이상 환영을 받지 못한다. 우리는 이러한 추세에 맞추어 의미기반 정보검색에 필요한 개념망과 정답문서집합으로 구성된 지식베이스를 제안한 바 있다. 본 논문에서는 방대한 구조의 개념망과 연결되는 정답문서집합을 유동적인 인터넷 환경에 적용하기 위해 자동으로 구축하는 시스템을 제시한다. 자동구축은 문서분류(document categorization) 기술을 활용하여 개념어에 문서를 할당하는 방법과 속성에 문서를 할당하는 방법으로 나누어 이루어진다. 제시한 방법은 실험을 통하여 기본적인 속성 할당에는 상당한 효과가 있는 것으로 판단되었고, 일부 미할당 문서에 대해서는 클러스터링과 같은 다른 알고리즘이 필요하다.

  • 이 논문은 '에서', '으로'와 같은 한국어의 부사격 조사들을 다국어 기계번역 시스템에서 다룰 때 올바른 역어 선택을 위한 3단계 변환 방식과 이를 위한 부사격 조사의 언어학적 모델링 방법을 제시한다. 3단계 변환 방식은 부사격 조사의 의미 모호성 해소, 의사 중간언어표상 (Quasi-Interlingua Representation)으로의 변환, 전치사 선택의 3단계로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서 중점적으로 다루게 될 세번째 단계, 즉 영어나 독일어에서 한국어의 부사격 조사에 대한 전치사 선택의 단계에서 올바른 대역어 선정 방법론의 핵심이 되는 부사격 조사에 대한 언어학적 모델링을 위해 Pustejovsky (1995)의 생성 어휘부 이론 (Generative Lexicon Theory)을 도입한다. 이 논문에서 제시한 방법론은 그 타당성의 수학적 검증을 위해 통합기반 기계번역 시스템인 CAT2에서 구현되었으나, 방법론 자체는 특정 시스템에 제한됨 없이 범용적으로 적용될 수 있을 것이다.

Benford's Law in Linguistic Texts: Its Principle and Applications (언어 텍스트에 나타나는 벤포드 법칙: 원리와 응용)

  • This paper aims to propose that Benford's Law, non-uniform distribution of the leading digits in lists of numbers from many real-life sources, also appears in linguistic texts. The first digits in the frequency lists of morphemes from Sejong Morphologically Analyzed Corpora represent non-uniform distribution following Benford's Law, but showing complexity of numerical sources from complex systems like earthquakes. Benford's Law in texts is a principle reflecting regular distribution of low-frequency linguistic types, called LNRE(large number of rare events), and governing texts, corpora, or sample texts relatively independent of text sizes and the number of types. Although texts share a similar distribution pattern by Benford's Law, we can investigate non-uniform distribution slightly varied from text to text that provides useful applications to evaluate randomness of texts distribution focused on low-frequency types.

  • In this paper we discuss the contrastive nature of formalism and functionalism in linguistics. Though the mainstreams of linguistic analysis have been focused on the form and function, they have been challenged from each other's strong points. On the one hand, the formal description has been studied in the tradition of generative grammar. On the other hand, the functional nature has played a crucial role in the framework of language use. It seems undesirable to argue that there is one-sided bias toward any type of linguistic approach. I try to present a balanced view of these two contrastive approaches. We also argue that there should be a cooperative work in developing the mutual growth of linguistic theory.

Ambiguity Types of the Homonymic & Heterographic Units for Improving Korean Voice Recognition System - a Preliminary Research (한국어 음성인식 시스템 향상을 위한 동음이철 단위의 중의성 유형 분류)

  • The accuracy rate of P2G (Phoneme-to-Grapheme) is one of the important factors determining the quality of unlimited voice recognition (VR) systems. Few studies were, however, conducted to reduce ambiguities of a phoneme string which can be segmented into a variety of different linguistic units (i.e. morphemes, words, eo-jeols), thus be transformed into more than one grapheme string. This paper is a preliminary research for building a large knowledge base of those homonymic & heterographic units(HHUs), which will provide unlimited Korean VR systems with more accurate P2G information. This paper analyzes 2 main factors generating HHUs: (1) boundary determination of the prosodic unit; (2) its segmentation into linguistic units. In this paper, linguistic characteristics determining variable boundaries of a prosodic unit are investigated, and the ambiguity types of HHUs are classified in accordance with their morphological and syntactic structures as well as with the phonological rules governing them.
