Design and Application of a Nonlinear Coordinated Excitation and TCPS Controller in Power Systems

  • This paper presents a new approach to Thyristor Controlled Phase Shifter (TCPS) control. In this paper we have proposed a nonlinear coordinated generator excitation and TCPS controller to enhance the transient stability of a power system. The proposed controller is able to control three main parameters affecting a.c. power transmission: namely excitation voltage, phase angle and reactance in a coordinated manner. The TCPS is located at the midpoint of the transmission line. A nonlinear feedback control law is proposed to linearize and decouple the power system. The design of the proposed controller is based on the local measurements only. Simulation results have been shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller for the enhancement of transient stability of the power system under a large sudden fault.

밸런싱 로봇 제어 (A Control of Balancing Robot)

  • This paper shows to stabilize a balancing robot. We derive the dynamics of a balancing robot and design its controller using LQR method. For stabilizing balancing robot, we introduce a method to detect an angle using inertial sensors. In this study, we use a complementary filter to fuse signals by frequency response of gyroscope and accelerometer in order to measure the inclined angle of balancing robot. The filter coefficients are obtained by least square to minimize error in angle-detecting filter design. And then, after we derive a dynamics of balancing robot using Lagrange method, we linearize that dynamics for using LQR method.

  • This paper proposes an angle estimation of Segway robot for the slop driving. Most of Segway robot was controlled by pose control of keeping robot's balance and motor control of driving. In motor control, we analyzed Segway robot kinetically and estimated an angle of inclination using the velocity that depends on input force. In pose control, also, we used PD controller and evaluated a stability of controller through MATLAB simulation. Assuming the robot keeps its balance stably using controller, we could linearize dynamics. We could obtain the result through the experiment which estimates an angle using the velocity of Segway robot that is derived from linearized dynamics.

  • Aerodynamic torque of wind turbine is highly nonlinear due to the nonlinear interactions between wind and blade. The aerodynamic nonlinearity is represented by nonlinear power and torque coefficients which are functions of wind speed, rotational speed of rotor, and pitch angle of blade. It is essential from the viewpoint of understanding and analysis of dynamic characteristics for wind turbine to linearize the aerodynamic torque and define aerodynamic nonlinear parameters as derivatives of aerodynamic torque with respect to the three parameters. In this paper, a linearization method of the aerodynamic torque from power coefficient is presented through differentiating it by the three parameters. And steady-state values of three aerodynamic nonlinear parameters according to wind speed are obtained and their nonlinear characteristics are investigated.

  • The fully digitalized inverter has some difficulties in implementation because of the limitation of available memory capacity and computation time. In this paper schemes suitable for a one-chip microprocessor-based realization, which linearize notch angles of selected harmonic elimination (SHE) PWM, are presented. Also the detailed description of the scheme along with the realization is described. The simulation and experiment results show that proposed schemes have the predicted advantages such as good voltage waveforms and a memory-saving.

  • This paper presents a technique that can obtain an optimal solution for the Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) problems using the Interior Point Method (IPM) while taking into account of the power flow constraints. The SCED equations are formulated by using only the real power flow equations from the optimal power flow. Then an algorithm is presented that can linearize the SCED equations based on the relationships among generation real power outputs, loads, and transmission losses to obtain the optimal solutions by applying the linear programming (LP) technique. Finally, the application of the Primal Interior Point Method (PIPM) for solving the optimization problem based on the proposed linearized objective function is presented. The results are compared with the Simplex Method and the Promising results ard obtained.

  • Power amplifier linearity plays a major role in the design of RF communication systems. In this paper, predistortion type linearizer was designed an independently controllable AM/AM and AM/PM predistortion linearizers. This linearizer allows independent adjustment of the AM/AM and AM/PM curves by using two adjustable voltages to compensate the power amplifier non-linearities. The predistortion linearizer was improved the ACPR by 6dB with cdma2000 multi carrier signals. Applying this linearizer to two-tone 880MHz power amplifier, an improvement of adjacent channel leakage power up to 5dBm has been achieved.

  • Nonlinear dynamic system under random excitation was analyzed by using stochastic method. A linearization method was used in order to linearize non-linear structural characteristics but the parametric excitation was used as it was given. An equivalent energy method which equalizes the expectation value of energy of the original nonlinear system and that of quasi-linearized system was proposed. Ito's differential rule was applied to obtain steady state moments. Quasi-linearization coefficients can be obtained the iterative calculation of linearization scheme and steady state moments. Monte Carlo simulation was used to verify the results of the proposed method. Nonlinear vibration of a slender beam was analyzed in this research. The analysis results were compared with Monte Carlo simulation result and showed good agreement. As the spectral density of the given excitation increased, the analysis results showed the better agreement with Monte Carlo simulation.

무향변환을 이용한 비선형 필터에 대한 연구 (Study on Nonlinear Filter Using Unscented Transformation Update)

  • The optimal estimation of a general continuous-discrete system can be achieved through the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation and the Bayesian update. Due the high nonlinearity of the equation of motion of the system and the measurement model, it is necessary to linearize the both equation. To avoid linearization, the filter based on Fokker-Planck equation is designed. with the unscented transformation update mechanism, in which the associated Fokker-Planck equation was solved efficiently and accurately via discrete quadrature and the measurement update was done through the unscented transformation update mechanism. This filter based on the Direct Quadrature Moment of Method(DQMOM) and the unscented transformation update is applied to the bearing only target tracking problem. The proposed filter can still provide more accurate estimation of the state than those of the extended Kalman filter especially when measurements are sparse. Simulation results indicate that the advantages of the proposed filter based on the DQMOM and the unscented transformation update make it a promising alternative to the extended Kalman filter.

  • This paper presents the linearized optimal PWM techniques for current source GTO converter. This proposed method is to linearize an optimal PWM modulation strategy so that the turn-on/off-periods of the GTO switches can be computed on-line in real-time for any modulation index. This allows the rapid and continuous regulation of the DC output current while producing the sinusoidal AC input current waveform and unit power factor.
