  • This paper deals with thrust characteristic by design parameter of linear synchronous reluctance motor(LSynRM). Mover of LSynRM used stator of linear induction machine. Design parameter being teeth width, teeth depth, airgap and displacement, we analyzed thrust characteristic on singleness or complex case. Also, we presented thrust characteristic using finite element method.

  • In order to tune the speed controller in the linear servo applications the accurate information of a mover mass including a load mass is always required. This paper suggests the mass estimation method of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) by using the parameter estimation method of Least-Squares algorithm. First, the deterministic autoregressive moving average(DARMA) model of the mechanical dynamic system is derived. The application of the Least-Squares algorithm shows that the mass can be accurately estimated both in the simulation results and in the experimental results.

  • This paper proposes a new load torque observer based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy method for a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). A Linear Matrix Inequality(LMI) parameterization of the fuzzy observer gain is given, and the LMI conditions are derived for the existence of the fuzzy load torque observer guaranteeing $\alpha$-stability and linear quadratic performance. In this paper, a nonlinear speed controller is employed to validate the performance of the proposed fuzzy load torque observer, and various simulation results are presented under motor parameter and load torque variations.

  • This paper proposes a hybrid-excited linear synchronous motor (LSM) that has potential applications in a magnetically levitated vehicle. The levitation and thrust force characteristics of the LSM are investigated by means of three-dimensional (3-D) numerical electromagnetic FEM calculations and experimental verification. Compared to a conventional LSM with electromagnets, a hybrid-excited LSM can improve levitation force/weight ratios, and reduce the power consumption of the vehicle. Because the two-dimensional (2-D) FE analysis model describes only the center section of the physical device, it cannot express the complex behavior of leakage flux, which this study is able to predicts along with levitation and thrust force characteristics by 3-D FEM calculations. A static force tester for a hybrid-excited LSM has been manufactured and tested in order to verify these predictions. The experimental results confirm the validity of the 3-D FEM calculation scheme for the description of a hybrid-excited LSM.

  • 본 논문에서는 영구자석 선형동기전동기의 초기 자극위치를 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 이 알고리즘은 전동기 파라미터를 사용하지 않고 두 제어 축에 같은 추력 지령을 인가하여 각 제어 축에 의해서 발생하는 이동거리의 최대 값을 관측하고 관측된 최대 위치 변위의 오차를 PI 제어함으로써 초기 자극 위치를 빠르고 정확하게 찾는 것이다. 제안된 알고리즘을 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 타당성을 검증하였다

  • 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기(Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor)는 회전 모터와 달리 사용 용도에 맞추어 설계할 필요가 있으며, 회전 모터와 다르게 고정자와 가동자의 길이가 유한장이기 때문에 회전 모터에 비하여 누설 자속이 크다. 따라서, 반송장치용 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기의 전원용량을 정확히 산출하기 위해서는 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기에서 발생하는 누설자속량을 산출할 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기의 전원용량의 산출법에 대하여 나타낸다.

  • This paper presents dynamic characteristic of Permanment Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM). In order to analyze dynamic characteristics, simulink of Matlab is used. The measuring system of dynamic characteristics is manufactured and experiment results are compared with simulation results.

Linear Electric Motors in Machining Processes

  • Application of linear electric motors to automation of manufacturing processes, gantry robots, machining processes, machining centers, additive manufacturing and laser scribing has been discussed. The paper focuses on replacement of ball lead screw mechanisms with linear electric motors, linear motor driven positioning stages, linear motor driven gantries, machining centers, machining of large objects and industrial lasers. The best linear electric motors for application to machining processes are permanent magnet (PM) linear synchronous motors (LSMs), especially those without PMs in the reaction tail, e.g., high thrust density linear (HDL) LSMs and PM flux switching (FS) LSMs.

  • 선형 서보 응용분야에서 속도제어기를 정밀하게 조정하기 위해서는 부하 및 가동자의 질량을 항상 정확하게 알고 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 선형 영구자석 동기전동기의 가동부 질량을 추정하기 위하여 상수추정 알고리즘으로 최소자승법을 적용한 질량 추정방법을 제안하였다. 먼저 최소자승법을 적용하기 위한 기계적인 동전 시스템에 대한 DARMA(deterministic autoregressive moving average)모델을 유도하고, 유도된 DARMA모델에 최소자승법을 적용한 시뮬레이션 덴 실험 결과를 제시하여 제안한 방법으로 질량을 정밀하게 추정할 수 있음을 보였다.

  • Abstract - Linear Synchronous Motor has a large airgap comparing with rotary-type motor and especially, Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PM-LSM) which uses permanent magnet as a magnetic field, has a very large effective magnet airgap owing to permanent magnet structure. Accordingly, in case of 2-D analysis of the motor, the analysis error becomes large because leakage flux by which normal direction of the analysis region can not be considered, In this paper, the characteristic of PM-LSM for Maglev vehicle is analyzed exactly by 3-D Finite Element Method(3-D FEM). As the result, the effect of lateral-direction airgap magnetic flux density distribution on the analysis precision has been investigated and the motor characteristics according to primary motor parameter have been also made clear quantitatively. The accuracy of 3-D FEM has been confirmed by comparing the calculated results with the experimental results.
