  • Predicting accurate electricity prices is an important task in the electricity trading market. To address the electricity price forecasting problem, various approaches have been proposed so far and it is known that linear regression-based approaches are the best. However, the use of such linear regression-based methods is limited due to low accuracy and performance. In traditional linear regression methods, it is not practical to find a nonlinear regression model that explains the training data well. If the training data is complex (i.e., small-sized individual data and large-sized features), it is difficult to find the polynomial function with n terms as the model that fits to the training data. On the other hand, as a linear regression model approximating a nonlinear regression model is used, the accuracy of the model drops considerably because it does not accurately reflect the characteristics of the training data. To cope with this problem, we propose a new electricity price forecasting method that divides the entire dataset to multiple split datasets and find the best linear regression models, each of which is the optimal model in each dataset. Meanwhile, to improve the performance of the proposed method, we modify the proposed localized linear regression method in the map and reduce way that is a framework for parallel processing data stored in a Hadoop distributed file system. Our experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms the existing linear regression model. Specifically, the accuracy of the proposed method is improved by 45% and the performance is faster 5 times than the existing linear regression-based model.

  • The VS30 map is used as a key variable for site amplification in the ShakeMap, which predicts ground motion at any site. However, no VS30 map considering Korean geology and geomorphology has been developed yet. To develop a proxy-based VS30 map, we used 1,101 VS profiles obtained from a geophysical survey and collected proxy layers of geological and topographical information for the Korean Peninsula. Then, VS30 prediction models were developed using linear regression analysis for each geological age considering the distribution of VS30. As a result, models depending on geomorphology were suggested per each geologic group, including Quaternary, Fill, Ocean, Mesozoic group and Precambrian. Resolution of map is doubled from that of VS30 map by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Standard deviation of residual in natural log of proxy-based VS30 map is 0.233, whereas standard deviation of slope-based USGS VS30 map is 0.387. Therefore, the proxy-based VS30 map developed in this study is expected to have less uncertainty and to contribute to predicting more accurately the ground motion amplitude.

  • The D-STTD system obtains the diversity gain through the STTD scheme and the Multiplexing gain through parallel structure of the encoder using the STTD scheme known Alamouti Code. We are difficult to use Combining scheme of the STTD scheme for the D-STTD detection in the decoder because the D-STTD system transmits mutually different data in each other STTD encoder for multiplexing gain. Therefore, in this paper we combine the D-STTD system with Linear algorithm, SIC algorithm and OSIC algorithm known multiplexing detection scheme based on MMSE scheme and compare the performance of each system. And we propose the detection scheme of the D-STTD using MAP Algorithm and analyze the performance of each system. The simulation results show that the detector using iterative algorithm has better performance than Linear MMSE Detector. Especially, we show that the detector using MAP algorithm outperforms conventional detector.

  • In this paper, we propose the horizontal line detection using the Haar-like features and linear regression in infrared images. In the marine environment horizon image is very useful information on a variety of systems. In the proposed method Haar-like features it was noted that the standard deviation be calculated in real time on a static area. Based on the pixel position, calculating the standard deviation of the around area in real time and, if the reaction is to filter out the largest pixel can get the energy map of the area containing the straight horizontal line. In order to select a horizontal line of pixels from the energy map, we applied the linear regression, calculating a linear fit to the transverse horizontal line across the image to select the candidate optimal horizontal. The proposed method was carried out in a horizontal line detecting real infrared image experiment for day and night, it was confirmed the excellent detection results than the legacy methods.

  • This study proposes the method to use existing digital maps as one of the technologies to exclude individual differences that occur in the process of manually determining GCP for the geometric correction of KOMPSAT images and applying it to the images and to automate the generation of ortho-images. It is known that, in case high-resolution satellite images are corrected geometrically by using RPC, first order polynomials are generally applied as the correction formula in order to obtain good results. In this study, we matched the corresponding objects between 1:25,000 digital map and a KOMPSAT image to obtain the coefficients of the zero order polynomial and showed the differences in the pixel locations obtained through the matching. We performed proximity corrections using the Boolean operation between the point data of the surface linear objects and the point data of the edge objects of the image. The surface linear objects are road, water, building from topographic map.

  • In this study, regarding to the generalization of the map, we analyze how the different tolerances influence on the performances of linear generalization operators. For the analysis, we apply the generalization operators, especially two simplification algorithms provided in the commercial GIS software, to 1:1000 digital topographic map for analyzing the aspect of the changes in positional error depending on the tolerances. And we evaluate the changes in positional error with the quantitative assessments. The results show that the analysis can be used as the criteria for determining proper tolerance in linear generalization.

  • The scale of disaster and damage witnessed in the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and the 2011 Great East Japan Tsunami has motivated researchers in developing foolproof disaster mitigation techniques for safety of coastal communities. This study focuses on developing tsunami hazard map by numerical modeling at Imwon Port to minimize losses of human beings and property damage when a real tsunami event occurs. A hazard map is developed based on inundation maps obtained by numerical modeling of 3 past and 11 virtual tsunami cases. The linear shallow-water equations with manipulation of frequency dispersion and the non-linear shallow-water equations are employed to obtain inundation maps. The inundation map gives the maximum extent of expected flooded area and corresponding inundation depths which helps in identifying vulnerable areas for unexpected tsunami attacks. The information can be used for planning and developing safety zones and evacuation structures to minimize damage in case of real tsunami events.

  • Space Syntax methodology can be quantitatively calculated spatial cognitive analysis by number of turns_ In the existing GIS-based spatial information service provide 'physical distance' due to the shortest distance as a priority. but pedestrians tends to choose the path with concerned a lot of emphasis of safety, more vitality way from the crime at night, traffic accidents, and comfort on a road. Human's 'psychological distance' may reflect the spatial information services and provided path should be. In this study, using GIS Road Data implements the axial map with idea of the linear simplification principles. Traditional axial map of the Space Syntax get the assumption from the actual traffic values by comparing the results of correlation relationship. Through these methods, the actual relationship between traffic and test values have the correlation value($R^2$= 0.5387) 50% level and was able to get the results.

  • This paper proposes a design method of sliding mode observer for SISO linear systems with a disturbance input. We first construct an observer with a constant gain matrix, a feedforward injection map and an external feedforward compensation signal input. Using the second Lyapunov method, we present a sufficient condition for the existence of sliding mode observer. The proposed observer guarantees that the state error trajectories enter a certain region in finite time and remain inside thereafter.
