  • Position controls are very important in semiconductor manufacturing devices, machine tools, precision measuring instruments, etc. to measure the distance of movement of moving objects in minute units and the accuracy of measurement for the moving distance in these devices affect the performance of the whole devices. Therefore, in those precision instruments, a sensing device that can measure the distance of movement with high-precision resolution is required. Thus an optical encoder that has such advantages as easy digital interface, economical price, and a resolution similar to that of laser interferometers can be used. In this paper, a interferometer-type linear scale with easy digital interface and high-resolution has been set up and measured the distance of movement based on the diffraction principle. Interference signals produced in this optical setup of the linear scale have beers digitalized through fabricated photodetectors and designed signal processing circuits. A resolution of 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ is acquired from the experimental interferometer-type linear scale without for the movement of scales any additional dividing circuits. It is shown that from this experiment a high-resolution distance measurement device can be designed by a simple optical setup.

  • Many reported methods assume that the faces in an image or an image sequence have been identified and localization. Face detection from image is a challenging task because of variability in scale, location, orientation and pose. In this paper, we present an efficient linear discriminant for multi-view face detection. Our approaches are based on linear discriminant. We define training data with fisher linear discriminant to efficient learning method. Face detection is considerably difficult because it will be influenced by poses of human face and changes in illumination. This idea can solve the multi-view and scale face detection problem poses. Quickly and efficiently, which fits for detecting face automatically. In this paper, we extract face using fisher linear discriminant that is hierarchical models invariant pose and background. We estimation the pose in detected face and eye detect. The purpose of this paper is to classify face and non-face and efficient fisher linear discriminant..

  • In this paper, we consider to robust controller design problem for the linear large scale systems with the uncertainties and the time-delays. The considered time-delays are that exist in the state and the input of the subsystems and the interconnected subsystems. And the considered uncertainties are two general types that exist in the system, input and interconnected matrices. Based on the linear matrix inequality(LMI) and Lyapunov theorem, we present sufficient conditions for the existence of a controller that guarantees the asymptotic stability of systems regardless of the uncertainties and the time-delays. Also, the controller can be easily obtained by checking the feasibility of the LMI's. Finally, we show the usefulness of our results by an example.

  • A new sustain driving waveform and its implementation method is proposed to improve the gray scale linearity by applying the sustain waveform for producing the strong and weak discharge in AC plasma display panel. The driving method to express the gray scale of AC PDP is the combination of the several subfield in one TV frame, and the luminance of the each subfield is decided by the number of the sustain pulses. As the same amount of the strong plasma discharge is produced when the sustain pulses are applied during a sustain period, it looks easy to express the linear gray scale ideally. However, it is difficult to express the real linear gray scale due to the production of the address and first sustain discharge irrelevant to gray scale expression in every subfleld. Therefore, a new sustain driving waveformis adopted to produce partially the weak discharge instead of the strong discharge by the modification of the sustain pulses shape during the sustain period and the gray scale expression is close to the linearity.

  • The main purpose of this paper is the numerical analysis of the non-linear seismic response of a RC building mock-up. The mock-up is subjected to different synthetic horizontal seismic excitations. The numerical approach is based on a 3D-model involving multilayered shell elements. These elements are composed of several single-layer membranes with various eccentricities. Bending effects are included through these eccentricities. Basic equations are first written for a single membrane element with its own eccentricity and then generalised to the multilayered shell element by superposition. The multilayered shell is considered as a classical shell element : all information about non-linear constitutive relations are investigated at the local scale of each layer, whereas balance and kinematics are checked afterwards at global scale. The non-linear dynamic response of the building is computed with Newmark algorithm. The numerical dynamic results (blind simulations) are considered in the linear and non linear cases and compared with experimental results from shaking table tests. Multilayered shell elements are found to be a promising tool for predictive computations of RC structures behaviour under 3D seismic loadings. This study was part of the CAMUS International Benchmark.

  • This paper is concerned with a practical guide for the ultimate longitudinal strength assessments of ships' hull structure. Rigorous non-linear structural analysis for three tanker models has been carried out to examine the ultimate strength behavior. Formula of estimating the ultimate longitudinal strength has been proposed which is modified with the results of non-linear finite element analysis of hull girders. Computational reliability and accuracy of the large-scale non-linear finite element analysis and the proposed simplified formula are verified through comparing their results with that of 1/3 scale frigate model test and DNVs program. Additionally, the ultimate longitudinal strength for ten tanker models is compared with those by the method specified in the 2nd Draft of common structural rule for tankers, which is being developed by IACS.

  • This study investigates which sound quality indices except SPL raise annoyance response. For investigation, auditory perception experiments for road traffic noise with identical linear SPL were performed by Paired Comparison Method. The numerical results of a Paired Comparison experiment express relative preference about annoyance. So that these relative preference scores are to be correlated to sound quality indices, which are absolute, a transformation is required to go from the relative domain to an absolute and linear scale of preference. The results of the transformation will be the 'merit values,' which quantifies the annoyance(in this case) of the road traffic noise on a linear scale. Using multiple regression, a formula is established that can calculate predicted merit values. Furthermore, This investigation offers a method selecting sound samples that represent various sound quality indices values to use experiment.

  • This article focuses on stability analysis and fuzzy controller synthesis for large neural network (NN) systems consisting of several interconnected subsystems represented by the NN model. Advanced and fuzzy NN differential inclusion (NNDI) for stability based on the developed algorithm with H infinity can be designed based on the evolved biological design. This representation is constructed using sector linearity for NN models. Sector linearity transforms a non-linear model into a linear model based on proposed operations. New sufficient conditions are realized in the form of LMI (linear matrix inequalities) to ensure the asymptotic stability of the trans-Lyapunov function. This transforms the nonlinear model into a linear model based on multiple rules. At last, a numerical case study with simulations is derived as illustration to prove its feasibility in real nonlinear structures.

  • We consider the problem of identifying and testing outliers in linear regression. First, we consider the scale-ratio tests for testing the null hypothesis of no outliers. A test based on the ratio of two residual scale estimates is proposed. We show the asymptotic distribution of test statistics and investigate the properties of the test. Next we consider the problem of identifying the outliers. A forward procedure based on the suggested test is proposed and shown to perform fairly well. The forward procedure is unaffected by masking and swamping effects because the test statistics used a robust scale estimate.
