Talairach 뇌지도의 3차원 볼륨 재구성 (Reconstruction of 3D Volume of Talairach Brain Atlas)

  • Talarirach 뇌지도(atlas)는 서로 수직인 두정방향(coronal), 시상봉합방향(sagittal), 축방향(axial)의 3세트 슬라이스들로 구성되어 있으며, 뇌기능 질환진단 및 병인 분석에서 표준 뇌지도로서 그 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 특히 컴퓨터상에서 이들로부터 얻어진 3차원 디지털 볼륨 데이터는 처리결과의 가시화와 정량적 분석에서 그 응용범위가 크다. 본 노문은 Talairach 뇌지도의 3차원 볼륨 데이터 재구성에서 쌍선형(bi-linear) 보간법의 적용 방법과 삼평면(tri-planar)보간법을 제안하고, Talairach 뇌지도 편집기를 제작하여 볼륨 데이터 재구성의 문제점을 고찰하였다. 쌍선형 보간법과 뇌지도에 적용은 1세트의 슬라이스에 대하여 하나씩의 밝기값만 고려하였으며, 삼평면 보간법은 서로 수직인 3방향의 슬라이스의 노구조물 정보를 동시에 이용하였다. Talairach 뇌지도 편집기는 3방향의 슬라이스를 동일 좌표계에 동시에 시각화하여 편집할 수 있도록 하였다. 뇌지도 편집기를 이용하여 Talairach 뇌지도의 3방향의 슬라이스간의 뇌구조물의 부합이 다름을 보여줌으로써 볼륨 재구성의 문제점을 밝혔다.

The Interpolation Method for the missing AIS Data of Ship

  • The interpolation of missing AIS data can be used for recovering the lost data of a ship's state which is then able to produce useful information for VTS stations or other ships. Previous research has introduced some interpolating methods however there are some problems with regard to missing AIS data. This paper proposes one new method which includes linear interpolation, cubic Hermit interpolation and an identification mechanism to overcome some of those limitations, first AIS data regarding ship position, COG, SOG and HDG is divided into separate time series, then the characteristic of the missing data is investigated into through using an identification mechanism, an appropriate interpolation is selected to fit all the time series which matches the characteristics. Numerical experiments are carried out using real AIS data to validate the algorithm of this approach and the results are compared with the previous method, after which the actual missing area is suggested to be interpolated by the proposed method. The interpolation results show this approach can be applied well in practice.

  • 디지털 정보화 시대에서 영상처리는 스마트폰, 카메라, TV 등의 여러 디지털 기기에서 필수적으로 이용되고 있다. 그러나 영상 데이터를 분석, 인식, 처리하는 과정에서 열화가 발생하며, salt & pepper 잡음이 발생한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 salt & pepper 잡음 환경에서 보다 효과적인 보간법을 알아보기 위해, salt & pepper 잡음에 훼손된 영상에 선형 보간법, newton 보간법, lagrange 보간법, spline 보간법을 적용하여 처리하였으며, PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio)을 이용하여 각 방법을 서로 비교하였다.

프랙탈 보간에 의한 엔드밀링 절삭력 예측 (End-milling Force Estimation by Fractal Interpolation)

  • Recently, the fractal interpolation methods have been widely introduced and used to estimate and analyze various theoretical and experimental data. Because of the chaotic behaviors of dynamic cutting force data, some method for end-milling force analysis must be used. The fractal analysis used in this paper is fractal linear interpolation and fractal dimension. Also, several methods for computing fractal dimensions have been used in which the fractal dimension of the typical dynamic end-milling force was calculated according to number of data points that are generally lower than 200 data points sampled. This fractal analysis shows a possible prediction of end-milling force that has some dynamic chatter property or stationary property in endmilling operation.

뉴턴 보간법을 이용한 초음파센서 기반의 맵빌딩 개선 (An Enhancement of Ultrasonic Based Map-building Using Newton Interpolation)

  • In mobile robotics, ultrasonic sensors became one of the most popular devices for collision avoidance and navigation primarily due to data robustness, the easy availability of low-cost systems, their compact size, simple circuits, and their ease in interfacing with computers. However, ultrasonic sonic sensors are subject to noise which results in inaccuracy of mapping and localization of the robot. This paper introduces a new approach to enhance environmental maps based on ultrasonic range data using linear interpolation and Newton interpolation. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method improves of the accuracy of the map through better distance estimation between the mobile robot and obstacles.

APPROXIMATE TANGENT VECTOR AND GEOMETRIC CUBIC HERMITE INTERPOLATION

  • In this paper we introduce a discrete tangent vector of a polygon defined on each vertex by a linear combination of forward difference and backward difference, and show that if the polygon is originated from a smooth curve then direction of the discrete tangent vector is a second order approximation of the direction of the tangent vector of the original curve. Using this discrete tangent vector, we also introduced the geometric cubic Hermite interpolation of a polygon with controlled initial and terminal speed of the curve segments proportional to the edge length. In this case the whole interpolation is $C^1$. Experiments suggest that about $90\%$ of the edge length is the best fit for the initial and terminal speeds.

  • This paper gives channel estimation of W-CDMA reverse link using 2-point second-order algorithm over Rayleigh fading channels. The proposed algorithm is compared with the existing interpolation algorithms, i.e., WMSA, linear and second-order Gaussian interpolation, by obtaining HER performance through computer simulations. The BER performance of 2-point second-order interpolation is superior to other algorithms in fading channels. The proposed algorithm also has relatively-simple structure and similar processing delay in comparison to the existing algorithm, Therefore, this algorithm is more suitable for high speed mobile communication environments.

  • We have evaluated the performances of the following six interpolation schemes used for win-dow deformation in particle image velocimetry (PIV): the linear, quadratic, B-spline, cubic, sinc, Lagrange interpolations. Artificially generated images comprised of particles of diameter in a range pixel were investigated. Three particle diameters were selected for detailed evaluation: pixel with a constant particle concentration $0.02particle/pixel^2$. Two flow patterns were considered: uniform and shear flows. The mean and random errors, and the computation times of the interpolation schemes were determined and compared.

Error Reduction of Sliding Mode Control Using Sigmoid-Type Nonlinear Interpolation in the Boundary Layer

  • Sliding mode control with nonlinear interpolation in the boundary layer is proposed. A modified sigmoid function is used for nonlinear interpolation in the boundary layer and its parameter is tuned by a fuzzy controller. The fuzzy controller that takes both the sliding variable and a measure of chattering as its inputs tunes the parameter of the modified sigmoid function. Owing to the decreased thickness of the boundary layer and the tuned parameter, the proposed method has superior tracking performance than the conventional linear interpolation method.

  • This study is concerned with the accuracy, of error with which subjects can interpolate the location of a target between two graduation markers with 4 orientations and 6 sizes CRT display. Stimuli were graphic images on CRT with a linear, end-markec, ungraduated scales having a target. The location of a target is estimated in units over te range 1-99. Smallest error of estimates was at the near ends and middle of the base-line. The median error was less than 2 units, modal error was 1, and the most error (; 99.7%) was within 10. A proper size to make an minimum error in interpolation exists such that size 400 pixels. Interpolation estimation is shown to be affected by the size, location and interaction (orientation x location, size x location). The accuracy, interpolation performance are discussed in relation to absolute error associated with visual performance.
