The fundamental stochastic duel of Williams and Ancker is combined with the probabilistic linear, square and mixed laws of Brown and Smith when the battle time is limited and interfiring times are continuous. The Probability of a given side's winnig or a draw is derived in a recursive equation with Laplace transforms. Examples with negative exponential firing times are given. In linear law an exact closed form solution is obtained, whereas for square and mixed laws only square ($2{\times}2$) duels are considered.

Resource-constrained project scheduling is to allocate limited resources to activities to optimize certain objective functions and to determine a start time for each activity in the project such that precedence constraints and resource requirements are satisfied. This study suggests a multi-project scheduling model which can level work loads, make the most of production capacity and restrain the delay of delivery by developing a heuristic algorithm which minimizes the project completion time and maximizes the load rate under resource constraints.

The intermolecular hydrogen bond between silk fibroin in aqueous solution facilitates gelation of silk fibroin. The dependence of gelation by the concentration of silk fibroin, pH and temperature was investigated. The gelation time of silk fibroin is decreased with increasing the concentration of glycerol and temperature within a limited range. The pH optimum for gelation found out to be 9. Hydrophobic additives were investigated to reduce gelation time.

The service life of tools in metal forming technology is to a large extent limited by wear and fatigue fracture of the active elements. This presents a basic request for tool cost minimization and reduction of extensive machine down time, caused by premature tool failure. Currents developments are dominated by steps to reduce the causes of tool failure. A main problem of forming technology remains the insufficient reliability of tools due to a large and incalculable life time fluctuation. Only a systematic investigation of the failure mechanisms and operational loading of tools can lead to future improvements in tool layout, that is optimization of tool usage.

The objective of this paper is to develop an efficient genetic algorithm (GA) to find a channel assignment method for minimum interference among the channels within reasonable time. The series of specific channel number is used as a representation of chromosome. We use minimum-channel-distance encoding scheme within the same cell to consider cosite channel interference (CSI) when chromosomes are generated. The cell base crossover is also used. This proposed method improves solution quality within limited time.

The Real-time Distributed Control Systems(RDCS) consist of several distributed control processes which share a network medium to exchange their data. Performance of feedback control loops in the RDCS is subject to the network-induced delays from sensor to controller and from controller to actuator. The network-induced delays are directly dependent upon the data sampling times of the control components which share a network medium. In this study, a scheduling algorithm of determining data sampling times is developed using the window concept, where the sampling data from the control components dynamically share a limited number of windows.

The growing usage of multimedia communication applications with specific bandwidth and real-time delivery requirements has created the needs for quality of service(QoS). In response to the growing demand for an integrated services, the Reservation Protocol(RSVP) has been designed to exchange resource reservation among routers in the internet. RSVP protocol provides the quality of service for real-time applications but the network efficiency is reduced because of the limited bandwidth. In order to use network resources efficiently. We compare the resource efficiency of traditional reservation methods with that of the proposed method and evaluate the performance of the internet phone.
