  • Purpose: Social networking services have been recognized as an attractive distribution channel at a time when efforts to deliver effective messages to consumers are essential amid a flood of advertisements in the multi-media era. In that sense, this study investigated the effect of the scarcity message type (limited-time vs. limited-quantity) and sender type (corporate vs. consumer) on the intention to purchase golf equipment by Instagram distribution channel. Research design, data and methodology: Data from 108 college students in their 20s and 30s with experience using Instagram were collected online through convenience sampling. A frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, independent sample t-test, and two-way analysis of variance were performed using SPSS 23.0. Results: The results showed that limited-quantity messages induce a higher purchase intention than limited-time messages. Similarly, consumer-sent advertisements induce a higher purchase intention than corporate-sent advertisements. Further, there is no statistically significant interaction effect of the scarcity message type and sender type on the intention to purchase golf equipment. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in verifying consumers' purchase intention depending on the type of scarcity message and the type of sender in Instagram advertisements. The results yield significant implications for marketers and several directions for future research.

  • In this paper, we examine Interleaved Polling with Adaptive Cycle Time (IPACT) algorithm which was proposed to control upstream traffic for Gigabit Ethernet-PONs, and we analyze the performance of the gated service and the limited service of the IPACT mathematically. For the mathematical performance analysis, we model IPACT algorithm as a polling system and use mean-value analysis. We divide arrival rate λ value into three regions and analyze each region accordingly. We obtain average packet delay, average queue size and average cycle time of both the gated and the limited service. We compare analytical results with simulation to verify the accuracy of the mathematical analysis. Upon now, simulation analysis have been used to evaluate the performance of EPONs, which require much time sud effort. Mathematical analysis can be widely used in the design of EPON systems since system designers can obtain various performance results rapidly.

  • This article aimed to identify the significance of 'Limited Edition' in 'Art Furniture' field, which is rather well known in fine art like printing and sculpture. The consumer never responded to 'Art furniture' positively for its artistic quality and authenticity before than these days. For this, Author featured out current tendencies of 'Art Furniture' in terms of 'Limited Edition' can be easily found in well-known designer or artist's work, suggests designers should aim for their design. This desire, as a result, gave an opportunity to designers to produce new products in various different ways. And at the same time, suggest a new method in furniture design. Furthermore, 'Limited Edition' became a channel and opens a new environment for designers to explore and come up with new experimental designs.

  • This study contains the process of developing a Mission Planning System (MPS) of an USV that can be applied in real situations and verifying them through HILS. In this study, we set the scenario of a single USV with limited operating time. Since the USV may not perform some missions due to the limited operating time, an objective function was defined to maximize the Mission Achievement Rate (MAR). We used a genetic algorithm to solve the problem model, and proposed a method using a 3-D population. The simulation showed that the probability of deriving the global optimal solution of the mission planning algorithm was 96.6% and the computation time was 1.6 s. Furthermore, USV showed it performs the mission according to the results of the MPS. We expect that the MPS developed in this study can be applied to the real environment where USV performs missions with limited time conditions.

  • According to socioemotional selectivity theory, if people perceive their time left in life as expanded, they have a future-oriented goal of life, but if perceive as limited the goal of life is changed into the pursuit of present emotional satisfaction. Thus, if we perceive our time left as getting limited as we get older, we pay more attention to the positive stimuli than the negative ones and remember more the positive stimuli in order to maintain the current emotional state as positive. This is known as the positivity effect. This study examined whether the positivity effect is caused by a limited future time perspective. The participants were presented with scenarios for hypothetical situations in which the future time was expanded or limited, and were encouraged to immerse in the virtual situation by talking about what they would like to do and whom they wanted to spend time with. Then the participants were presented with 48 positive, negative, and neutral emotional pictures and were asked to recall after 10 minutes delay. 75 university students and 65 elderly participated in the study. In the control condition where the future time perspective was not manipulated, the elderly showed the positivity effect but the youth showed the bias toward negative pictures. The elderly in the expanded time condition recalled positive pictures less and negative pictures more than the elderly in the control condition. On the other hand, the youth in the limited time condition recalled less the negative pictures than the youth in the control condition. These results demonstrated that the elderly did not show the positive bias when the future time perspective was expanded, and that the youth showed the positive bias when the future time perspective was limited. These results show that the positivity effect is related with the limited future time perspective.

  • We consider a queueing system with N-limited nonstop forwarding. In this queueing system, when the server breaks down, up to N customers can be serviced during the repair time. It can be used to model an assembly line consisting of several automatic stations and a manual backup station. Within the framework of $Geo^X/D/1$ queue, the matrix analytic approach is used to obtain the performance of the system. Some numerical examples are provided.

  • In this paper a new "limited view frequency correlation algorithm" for diffraction topography is proposed. In this algorithm the problem of limited view sampling is solved by spectrum of spatial frequencies of refractive index. This algorithm is very important in a view of reduction of scanning time and improvement of considerably higher image quality object reconstruction.struction.

  • We present the basic properties of a superconductive fuse (SF) based on YBCO/Au films. The SF consists of YBCO stripes covered with Au layers for current shunt. The fault current was limited to a designed value in less than 0.4 msec by resistance development in YBCO/Au upon quenching. This enabled the SF to transfer small fault power and the suppressed current was sustained for more than 0.5 msec while Au layer melting and arcing. The arcing time was less than 2.5 msec, that is short enough to do self-interruption. Under the source voltage of 100 $V_{rms}$, the longer the duration time of fault current was, the shorter its discharge time was. The duration time of fault current and its discharge time were reduced by increased voltages in the range of 200 - 300 $V_{rms}$. We thought that this was because the quench propagation was limited by local melting generated with higher voltage.age.

  • This paper examines the BER performance of the recently proposed half-symbol-rate-carrier (HSRC) offset quadrature phase-shift-keying (OQPSK) receiver for high-speed data communication. A modified demodulation technique using a bit-time period signal integration, the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the HSRC-OQPSK signal improves more than 4dB compared to that of a demodulation technique using a symbol-time period integration. This paper also examines the BER performance of modified demodulation with various band-limited channels modeled using low-pass filters, and the three different data-rate systems are simulated and compared with the performance of the system using the conventional demodulation technique.

  • Group method of data handling neural networks model (GMDH-NNM) is used to estimate daily pan evaporation (PE) using limited climatic variables such as max temperature ($T_{max}$), min temperature ($T_{min}$), mean wind speed ($W_{mean}$), mean relative humidity ($RH_{mean}$) and sunshine duration (SD). And, for the performances of GMDH-NNM, it is composed of training and test performances, respectively. The training and test performances are carried out using daily time series data, respectively. From this research, we evaluate the impact of GMDH-NNM for the modeling of the nonlinear time series data. We should, thus, construct the credible data of the daily PE data using GMDH-NNM, and can suggest the methodology for the irrigation and drainage networks system. Furthermore, this research represents that the strong nonlinear relationship such as pan evaporation modeling can be generalized using GMDH-NNM.
