  • As wireless communication continues to develop in limited frequency resource environments, it is becoming important to identify the state of spectrum utilization and predict the amount needed in future. It is essential to collect reliable information for data analysis. This paper introduces a platform that enables the gathering of the scheduling information of a long-term evolution (LTE) cellular system without connecting to the network. A typical LTE terminal can confirm its assigned resource information using the configuration parameters delivered from a network. However, our platform receives and captures only the LTE signal over the air and then enables the estimation of the data relevant to scheduling for all terminals within an LTE cell. After extracting the control channel signal without loss from all LTE subframes, it detects valid downlink control information using the proposed algorithm, which is based on the error vector magnitude of depatterned symbols. We verify the reliability of the developed platform by comparing it with real data from mobile phones and service operators. The average difference in resource block utilization is only 0.28%.

  • Replication routing can greatly improve the data delivery performance by enabling multiple replicas of the same packet to be transmitted towards its destination simultaneously. It has been studied extensively recently and is now a widely accepted routing paradigm in delay tolerant networks (DTNs). However, in this field, the issue of how to maximize the utilization efficiency of limited replication quota in a resource-saving manner and therefore making replication routing to be more efficient in networks with limited resources has not received enough attention. In this paper, we propose a DTN routing protocol with back-pressure based replica distribution. Our protocol models the replica distribution problem from a resource allocation perspective and it utilizes the idea of back-pressure algorithm, which can be used for providing efficient network resource allocation for replication quota assignment among encountered nodes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed protocol significantly outperforms existing replication routing protocols in terms of packet delay and delivery ratio.

  • This paper introduces a testbed which is suitable for the study of security issues arising in applications involving internet appliances. The testbed implements secure door locks by utilizing the intranet in the building and is composed of two main parts, namely a database server and door locks each of which equipped with a custom-made embedded system. The main objective is to provide a platform for teaching the conflict among real-time specifications, security requirements, and limited-resource constraints. After definitions of threat, vulnerability, and attack are given, we discuss how the testbed can be applied as an education tool for these concepts. Finally, the effects of sequential and multitasking operations are given as a case study.

  • It only takes one failed project to wipe out an entire year's profit, when the projects are not managed efficiently. Additionally, escalating costs of materials and a competitive local construction market make subcontractors a challenge. Subcontractors have finite resources that should be allocated simultaneously across many projects in a dynamic manner. Significant scheduling problems are posed by concurrent multi-projects with limited resources. The objective of this thesis is to identify the effect of productivity changes on the total cost resulting from shifting crews across projects using a descriptive model. To effectively achieve the objective, this study has developed a descriptive cost model for a subcontractor with multi-resources and multi-projects. The model was designed for a subcontractor to use as a decision-making tool for resources allocation and scheduling. The model identified several factors affecting productivity. Moreover, when the model was tested using hypothetical data, it produced some effective combinations of resource allocation with associated total costs. Furthermore, a subcontractor minimizes total costs by balancing overtime costs, tardiness penalties, and incentive bonus, while satisfying available processing time constraints.

  • Nowadays, efforts are in progress for the standardization of CORBAbased telecommunication network management framework. To implement a network management system based on the framework completely, CORBA ORB and some of CORBA service should be installed in the element. And then, there must be the naming tree, which correspond to the containment relationships between components in the network element. If we use conventional OMG naming service to form the naming tree, all MOs, a software fragmenthat corresponds to each component in a system, should be instantiated. However, the network element is usually a kind of limited resource system, which cannot provide sufficient resources for applications run on it. Hence, instantiatingall MOs can cause problems for that kind of system, This paper presents Smart Naming Service architecture as a solution to the problem.

  • In wireless networking environments, supporting guaranteed quality of service to mobile hosts is difficult due to the facts that wireless networks have limited bandwidth and mobile hosts frequently move in and out of cells. In spite of the characteristics of wireless communications, the quality of some types of services, i.e., real-time services, must be guaranteed at a certain level. When a mobile host moves into another cell, service rates for mobile hosts in wireless networks may be adjusted since wireless networks have limited bandwidths. In this paper, we propose two resource allocation algorithms in wireless mobile networks, using quality of service (QoS) specifications. For efficient use of resources of wireless networks, the proposed algorithms dynamically allocate rates of flows in proportion to QoS with limited resources.

  • To solve the problems of heavy computing load and system transmission pressure in energy internet (EI), we establish a three-tier cloud-edge integrated EI network based on a cloud-edge collaborative computing to achieve the tradeoff between energy consumption and the system delay. A joint optimization problem for resource allocation and task offloading in the threetier cloud-edge integrated EI network is formulated to minimize the total system cost under the constraints of the task scheduling binary variables of each sensor node, the maximum uplink transmit power of each sensor node, the limited computation capability of the sensor node and the maximum computation resource of each edge server, which is a Mixed Integer Non-linear Programming (MINLP) problem. To solve the problem, we propose a joint task offloading and resource allocation algorithm (JTOARA), which is decomposed into three subproblems including the uplink transmission power allocation sub-problem, the computation resource allocation sub-problem, and the offloading scheme selection subproblem. Then, the power allocation of each sensor node is achieved by bisection search algorithm, which has a fast convergence. While the computation resource allocation is derived by line optimization method and convex optimization theory. Finally, to achieve the optimal task offloading, we propose a cloud-edge collaborative computation offloading schemes based on game theory and prove the existence of Nash Equilibrium. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can improve output performance as comparing with the conventional algorithms, and its performance is close to the that of the enumerative algorithm.

  • The rapid development of mobile communication not only has made the industry gradually diversified, but also has enhanced the service quality requirements of users. In this regard, it is imperative to consider jointly network slicing and mobile edge computing. The former mainly ensures the requirements of varied vertical services preferably, and the latter solves the conflict between the user's own energy and harsh latency. At present, the integration of the two faces many challenges and need to carry out at different levels. The main target of the paper is to minimize the energy consumption of the system, and introduce a multi-slice joint task offloading and resource allocation scheme for massive multiple input multiple output enabled heterogeneous networks. The problem is formulated by collaborative optimizing offloading ratios, user association, transmission power and resource slicing, while being limited by the dissimilar latency and rate of multi-slice. To solve it, assign the optimal problem to two sub-problems of offloading decision and resource allocation, then solve them separately by exploiting the alternative optimization technique and Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions. Finally, a novel slices task offloading and resource allocation algorithm is proposed to get the offloading and resource allocation strategies. Numerous simulation results manifest that the proposed scheme has certain feasibility and effectiveness, and its performance is better than the other baseline scheme.

  • A development proposal that maximizes the trend of travel souvenir and articles toward tourism and natural resources through utilization of the Limited Production method was the focus of the present research. First, the flaws of travel souvenir and articles, currently produced in Inje, Kangwon-Do, were identified, as were the regional uniqueness of the area. The comparative advantages of developmental conditions of the above-specified region to various other Si/Kun regions were demonstrated to ascertain the optimal production method of travel souvenir and articles. The results are as follows. Superior supply of,7aw materials necessary for production of wood-worked travel souvenir and articles are abundantly available and the dose proximity of 17 existing workshops self-contain the production capacity to sustain the Limited Production method. Furthermore, the regional governing council conveyed positive attitudes towards the prospect of creating a regional production complex of wood-worked travel souvenir and articles. The results demonstrate that the optimal method of maximizing the trend of travel souvenir and articles toward tourism and natural resources is achieved through systematic collaboration of industry, education, and tourism that promote development, production, and merchandising of Inje's regional travel souvenir and articles.
