Wide-angle optical design using high-resolution uncooled thermal detector

  • In this paper, we propose efficient design and construction of an infrared wide angle optical system with low distortion utilizing a high resolution detector for automobile application. The operational convenience and the recognition ability have been improved significantly by applying the high resolution uncooled thermal detector with wide angle optical design. The active ahtermalization mechanism is implemented so that the adjustment of the optical component of the system is to be made automatically according to the temperature change by motorized control. The modulation transfer function (MTF) is about 50% at the Nyquist frequency close the diffraction limit. The distortion is less than 5% at the edge field. As a result, a high-resolution uncooled thermal optical system with wide field of view (FOV) is assembled, aligned and its performance is tested successfully.

  • Since existing measurement sites are required to construct a high-cost PM measuring device and a measuring site of a large area, there is a limit to the construction of a high-resolution measurement network. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a low-cost, high-performance PM measuring device (as an alternative technology) that can increase the resolution of PM measurement, and it is necessary to establish a base to provide real-time PM information for whole people. Therefore, in this study, the alternative technique (light scattering method) for achieving the above object was examined, performance evaluation was carried out, and it was verified that the light scattering method was usable. Various PM measurement results were compared and analyzed to find PM monitoring points and resolutions we would like to propose.

Efficient Multi-scalable Network for Single Image Super Resolution

  • In computer vision, single-image super resolution has been an area of research for a significant period. Traditional techniques involve interpolation-based methods such as Nearest-neighbor, Bilinear, and Bicubic for image restoration. Although implementations of convolutional neural networks have provided outstanding results in recent years, efficiency and single model multi-scalability have been its challenges. Furthermore, previous works haven't placed enough emphasis on real-number scalability. Interpolation-based techniques, however, have no limit in terms of scalability as they are able to upscale images to any desired size. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network possessing the advantages of the interpolation-based techniques, which is also efficient, deeming it suitable in practical implementations. It consists of convolutional layers applied on the low-resolution space, post-up-sampling along the end hidden layers, and additional layers on high-resolution space. Up-sampling is applied on a multiple channeled feature map via bicubic interpolation using a single model. Experiments on architectural structure, layer reduction, and real-number scale training are executed with results proving efficient amongst multi-scale learning (including scale multi-path-learning) based models.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine Korea's social conflict structure from System Dynamics perspective and to suggest policy direction for conflict resolution. Unlike previous studies on Korea's social conflict, this study tries to find out core structure of Korea's social conflict with help of studies on system archetypes. As a result, Korea's social conflict structure was analyzed as a combined prototype of 'limit to the growth' archetype and 'success to the successful' archetype. Based on this combined system archetype, a simple conflict model was simulated to examine the magnitude of conflict and success that could be reached under different conditions. With simulation results, policy suggestions were made for conflict resolution.

  • This work deals with development of effective redundancy resolution algorithms for the motion control of manipulator. Differently from the typical kinematically redundant robots that are attached to the fixed ground, the ZMP condition should be taken into account in the manipulator motion in order to guarantee the system stability. In this paper, a new motion planning algorithm for redundant manipulator not fixed to the ground is introduced. A sequential redundancy resolution algorithm is proposed, which ensures the ZMP (Zero Moment Point) stability, the planned operational motion, and additional sub-criteria such as joint limit index. A geometric constraint equation derived by reshaping the existing ZMP equation enables one to employ the sequential redundancy algorithm. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulating a redundant manipulator model.

  • This paper deals with the inertia property-based redundancy resolution in posture control of a mobile manipulator. As a measure for the redundancy resolution of a mobile manipulator, an effective inertia at the end effector in the operational space is proposed and investigated. The reduced effective inertia has a significant effect on reducing the impulse force in collision with environment. To find a posture satisfying both the reduced inertia and joint limit constraints, we propose a combined potential function method that can deal with multiple constraints.   • Detection in remotely sensed images can be conducted spatially, spectrally or both [2]. If the images have high spatial resolution, materials can be detected by using spatial and spectral information, unless we can't see the object embedded in a pixel. In this paper, we intend to solve the limit of spatial resolution by using the hyperspectral image which has high spectral resolution. Therefore, the Linear Spectral Mixing(LSM) Model which is sub-pixel detection algorithm is used to solve this problem. To find class Endmembers, we applied Geometric Model with MNF(Minimum Noise Fraction) transformation. From the result of sub-pixel detection algorithm, we can see the detection of water is satisfied and the object shape cannot be extracted but the possibility of material existence can be identified.

단일광자방출 전산화 단층촬영상에서 재구성 필터의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design for the reconstruction Filter in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT))

  • This paper presents an optimal design for the SPECT reconstruction filter, based on a physical limit of SPECT lesion detection capability. To increase the performance of the filter on lesion detectability, the filter design was focused on increasing the local SyW ratio of a threshold lesion, that was determined by minimum detectable lesion size (MDU) from SPECT lesion detectabllity contrast-detail curve. The proposed filter showed flexible window characteristics of resolution recovery and noise smoothing for MDLSs in the resolution-limited and photon-limited regions, respectively, compennting for the relative impact of the main limitation factors on threshold detectability. The simulated results showed good adaptability of the proposed filter to the changes in physical parameters of photon counts, object contrast, and detector system resolution.

  • The results of the Crab pulsar observations with the photometrical MANIA (Multichannel Analysis of Nanosecond Intensity Alterations) complex at the 6-m telescope are presented. More than 12 millions photons in UBVR-bands simultaneously with time resolution of $10^{-7}s$ were detected. Using the original software for search for optical pulsar period, we obtained the light curves of the object with time resolution of about 3.3 ${\mu}s$. Their detailed analysis gives the spectral change during pulse and subpulse, the shape of the pulse peaks, which are plateaus (with the duration of about 50${\mu}s$ for the main pulse), limits for an amplitude of fine temporal (stochastic and regular) structure of pulse and sub pulse and the interpulse space intensity. The results of CCD-spectroscopy of the Crab pulsar show that its summarized spectrum is flat. There are no lines, neither emission nor absorbtion ones. Upper limit for line intensity or depth is $3.5\%$ with the confidence probability of $95\%$.

의료영상에서 단일 표적을 이용한 공간분해능 평가 (An Evaluation For Spatial Resolution, Using A Single Target On A Medical Image)

  • 공간 분해능을 평가하기 위해서 이제까지는 일정하게 두 물체의 간격(이중 표적)을 근접한 것부터 점점 떨어진 간격으로 만들어진 테스트 패턴이나 팬텀을 이용하였다. 이러한 방법으로 공간분해능을 평가하면 분해능은 테스트용으로 제작된 팬텀에 있는 표적 간격으로 제한된다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 극복하고자 1개의 단일 표적으로 공간 분해능을 간편하게 측정할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 제안하고 검증한 것이다. 이를 위해 PSF 및 JND를 이용하여 공간 분해능을 추정하는 개념을 제시하였다. 이렇게 유도된 공간 분해능 추정 이론을 검증하기 위해, 상용 팬텀을 이용하여 실험하였다. 실험으로 얻어진 디지털 영상에서 라인 픽셀 프로파일을 구하기 위해 만든 LabVIEW 프로그램을 이용하여 분석한 결과, 본 연구에서 유도한 단일 표적을 이용한 공간 분해능 추정 이론과 실험적으로 일치하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 실험 결과로 디지털 영상에서 공간분해능의 상대적 평가는 단일 표적을 가지고도 충분하다는 것을 증명할 수 있었다. 따라서 단일 표적 공간분해능 평가법을 이용하면 이제까지 사용되어 왔던 이중 표적을 이용한 공간분해능 평가의 한계를 극복할 수 있다.
