  • Recently prestressed concrete bridges are generally used instead of reinforced concrete. PSC is more durable than RC because it can reduce crack problems, reinforcement corrosion, leakage and carbonation etc. And also PSC is more effective because there is no crack in tension area, and the entire concrete section is considered in section analysis. And it can reduce section size because vertical component by prestressing force can reduce the shear force. However, using high strength concrete can increase the self weight of bridge because of it's higher density. So the hollowed PPC girder with light weight aggregate can be a alternative. In this study the hollowed PPC girder with light weight aggregate is designed and the performance of hollowed PPC girder is evaluated by experimental tests as well as numerical analysis. As a result, The hollowed PPC girder of light aggregate behaved fully elastically under service load of 110kN, and the plastic behavior was showed after elastic behavior through experimental test, and it can be also estimated by numerical analysis.

  • Majority of the plastic produced each year is being disposed in land after single-use, which becomes waste and takes up a lot of storage space. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find alternative solutions instead of disposal. Recycling and reusing the PET plastic waste as aggregate replacement and fiber in concrete production can be one of the eco- friendly methods as there is a great demand for concrete around the world, especially in developing countries by raising human awareness of the environment, the economy, and Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a key development in concrete technology that offers a number of attractive features over traditional concrete applications. Recently, in order to improve its durability and prevent such plastics from directly contacting the environment, various kinds of plastics have been added. This review article summarizes the latest evident on the performance of SCC containing recycled PET as eco-friendly aggregates and fiber. Moreover, it highlights the influence of substitution content, shape, length, and size on the fresh and properties of SCC incorporating PET plastic. Based on the findings of the articles that were reviewed for this study, it is observed that SCC made of PET plastic (PETSCC) can be employed in construction era owing to its acceptable mechanical and fresh properties. On the other hand, it is concluded that owing to the lightweight nature of plastic aggregate, Reusing PET waste in the construction application is an effective approach to reduces the earthquake risk of a building.

  • Incineration method of municipal solid waste is the general method for reduction it's quantity and weight. Municipal solid waste incineration ash is classified two general types of ash : fly ash((MWFA) and bottom ash(MWBA)). MWFA containing a high degree heavy-metal may give rise to a serious environmental trouble. Therefore, this study was carried out to examine utilization of fly ash. In this study, we tried to find the recycling method of fly ash as a environmental-friendly artificial aggregate. The artificial aggregate using fly ash was tested for the various aspects, including physical properties and environmental stability. The qualities of artificial aggregate are similar to it of lightweight aggregate, and the heavy metal leaching concentration are very lower than a limitation of KSLT and EP.

  • This article reviews the tailoring of engineered cementitious composites (ECC), a type of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites with a theoretical design basis, for special attributes or functions. The design basis, a set of analytic tools built on micromechanics, provides guidelines for tailoring of fiber, matrix, and fiber/matrix interfaces to attain tensile ductility in ECC. If conditions for controlled multiple cracking are disturbed by the need to introduce ingredients to attain a special attribute or function, micromechanics then serve as a systematic and rational means to efficiently recover composite tensile ductility. Three examples of ECCs with attributes of lightweight, high early strength, and self-healing functions, are used to illustrate these tailoring concepts. The fundamental approach, however, is broadly applicable to a wide variety of ECCs designed for targeted fresh and/or hardened characteristics required for specific applications.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of floor slab structures with high-strength and lightweight CFRC panel using fly ash, PAN-derived and Pitch-derived carbon fiber. As a result, the flexural strength of CFRC is remarkably increased by CF contents, but compressive strength of the CFRC is not so increased as flexural strength. The bulk specific gravity is influenced by FA contents more than by CF contents, The compressive strength and the flexural strength are increased by FA contests, but decreased the case of 30% of contents. In order to increasing the flexural-carrying capacity of floor slab structures, it is recommended that the shape of anchor for reinforcement is required type-C and the spacing of anchor is required below 60mm.

  • In order to discuss the engineering properties of carbon fiber reinforced cement composites with silica fume and silica powder, experimental studies on the CFRC were carried out. The types of fiber used which are in CFRC are PAN-based carbon fiber and Pitch-based carbon fiber. To examine the effects of types, Lengths, contents of carbon fibers and matrices, their properties of fresh and hardened CFRC were tested: According to the test results, the process technology of lightweight CFRC is developed and their optimum mix proportions are successfully proposed. Also, it can be conclueded that the reinforcement of carbon fiber is considerably effective in improving tensile strength, flexural strength, toughness and loss of shrinkage of CFRC compared with conventional mortar.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the fireproofing mortar through the improved fireproofing properties. Therefore, after manufactured the mortor by changing the mixture rate of the perlite(PL) in three level, we investigated air content, flow value and compressive strength. As a result of this research, as the mixture rate was increased and the air content was also increased. But the flow ability and the compressive strength of the mortar were comparably decreased. Beside, we also found that there is efficiency of the lightweight by mixed PL.

  • The purpose of this study is grasping quality aggregate using Bottom Ash of Industrial Waste Incinerator, and is evaluating possibility of application as construction materials. Cement and Fly ash is used with binder of aggregates using bottom ash. It is tested for basic property and strength of artificial aggregates, and the results are compared with crushed stone and elution tests is done for environmental safety. In the results of tests, it is confirmed that basic property and strength are lowe than crushed stone but the aggregates have possibility of application as artificial lightweight aggregates. When it is manufactured with aggregates, it is sage environmentally because of protecting elution of harmful heavy metals.

  • The lightweight and high strength characteristics of aluminum alloy materials make them have promising prospects in the field of construction engineering. This paper primarily focuses on aluminum alloy materials. Aluminum alloy was combined with concrete, wood and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) cloth to create a composite column. The axial compression test was then conducted to understand the mechanical properties of different composite structures. It was found that the pure aluminum tube exhibited poor performance in the axial compression test, with an ultimate load of only 302.56 kN. However, the performance of the various composite columns showed varying degrees of improvement. With the increase of the load, the displacement and strain of each specimen rapidly increased, and after reaching the ultimate load, both load and strain gradually decreased. In comparison, the aluminum alloy-concrete composite column performed better than the aluminum alloy-wood composite column, while the aluminum alloy-wood-CFRP cloth composite column demonstrated superior performance. These results highlight excellent performance potential for aluminum alloy-wood-CFRP composite columns in practical applications.
