  • 3 phase 4-wire system has been widely used in the customer's application due to merit of 1 bank construction of loads such as 1-phase lighting, heat and 3-phase motor. But if the load distribution is not uniformed by the operation conditions, voltage unbalance is highly appeared by the difference of each phase current value. Especially, if the linear load such as resistance or inductive load has different power factor value, voltage unbalance factor is not the same due to the phase angle and magnitude of each phase voltage. In this paper, we composed the measurement device and analyzed by varying of load pattern.

  • It is essential to introduce EERS (Energy Efficiency Resource Standards) according to the trend of the era in which energy saving is emphasized, and it is time to settle down in a stable manner. Electric motors and lighting devices, which account for more than 60% of the nation's electricity use, are the most effective items of the EERS. And accurate methods of calculating savings must be preceded. In this study, the operation rate and load rate are measured through the demonstration of energy use at 400 businesses and the measured rates are used for EERS savings calculation. The results imply that the proposed method can be successfully applied to calculate cost-effective and reliable energy savings.

Structural Vibration Analysis of Helicopter Search Light Considering Aerodynamic Buffet Load (공력 Buffet 하증을 고려한 헬리콥터 탐색등의 구조진동해석)

  • In this study, computational structural vibration analysis of helicopter search light exposing unsteady buffet load have been conducted using combined advanced numerical methods. Unsteady CFD method based on Navier-Stokes equations is used to predict viscous buffet load due to flow separation effects. Full three-dimensional finite element model is constructed in order to conduct static and structural dynamic analyses of the search light model for two different typical flight speeds. Also, the correct performance of the search light can be physically estimated to examine the actual lighting area considering the effects of structural deformations.

  • Lighting control switches based on the power line communication technology are developed and extended to incorporate dimming control to provide energy saving and appropriate illumination. The developed switch uses a general purpose microprocessor and associated electronics. Both the power line communication and the dimming function are implemented in one microprocessor, and it enables the low price commercialization. The frequency of the carrier was set at 250kHz considering the transmission data length and signal attenuation in power lines. Tests on prototypes in an low-voltage power lines have shown that the switches have a robust operation characteristics with the length of power lines and the variation of load capacities.

  • In this paper, a software development for design of the small photovoltaic system which is used to LED lighting is presented. For optimal design of photovoltaic systems, the operating power consumption of the LED load is considered to estimate the capacity of the solar module and battery. In order to give system design engineers a high ease of use, the software tool provides a graphical user interface and monitoring function to check operation of the system prior to installation.

  • This paper presents an image quality enhancement algorithm for dark image acquired under poor lighting condition. Various retinex algorithms which are human perception-based image processing methods were proposed to solve this problem. Although MSR(Multi-Scale Retinex) among these algorithm works well under most lighting condition, it shows color degradation because their separate nonlinear processing of RGB color channels. To compensate for the loss of the color, MSRCR(Multi-Scale Retinex with Color Restoration) was proposed. However, it requires high computational load and has additional parameters that need to be adjusted according to input image. In order to overcome this problem, a new retinex algorithm based on MSR is proposed in this paper. The proposed method consists of V channel MSR, saturation correction, and separate contrast enhancement process. Experimental results show that the subjective and objective image quality of the proposed method better than those of the conventional methods.

  • This paper is purposed to analyze electric leakage component which can prevent electrical fires on breaker capacity expansion and power failure by operation of ELB(Earth leakage breaker) for stable sizes. In order to analysis for electric leakage component for stable sizes, this paper studied field state investigation which are at stable companies( 10 companies) in cheong-won location to deduce the problems of electric leakage component is analyzed. The field state experiment method is measured with electric leakage component which load part of ELB detected by electric loads(electrical fan, lighting, auto waterer, feeder and halogen lighting) and stable sizes. Results show that electric leakage component suggested in this paper are valuable and usable to electrical fire in leakage current based on environment factor, which will prevent severe damage to human beings and properties and reduce the electrical fires in stable.

  • The maximum power analysis simulator took advantage of the facilities and power consumption reduction simulator test scenario development and testing of improvement in the scenario. As a maximum demand power controller, Maximum power analysis simulator performs control and disperasion of maximum demand power by calculating base power, load forecast, and present power which are based on signal of watt-hour meter to keep the electricity under the target. In addition, various algorithms to select appropriate control methode on each of the light installations through the peak demand power is configured to management. The simulation shows the success of control power for the specified target controlled by five sequential lighting installations.

Novel Single-inductor Multistring-independent Dimming LED Driver with Switched-capacitor Control Technique

  • Current imbalance is the main factor affecting the lifespan of light-emitting diode (LED) lighting systems and is generally solved by active or passive approaches. Given many new lighting applications, independent control is particularly important in achieving different levels of luminance. Existing passive and active approaches have their own limitations in current sharing and independent control, which bring new challenges to the design of LED drivers. In this work, a multichannel resonant converter based on switched-capacitor control (SCC) is proposed for solving this challenge. In the resonant network of the upper and lower half-bridges, SCC is used instead of fixed capacitance. Then, the individual current of the LED array is obtained through regulation of the effective capacitance of the SCC under a fixed switching frequency. In this manner, the complexity of the control unit of the circuit and the precision of the multichannel outputs are further improved. Finally, the superior performance of the proposed LED driver is verified by simulations and a 4-channel experimental prototype with a rated output power of 20 W.
