  • Thanks to the shift in awareness of environmentally friendly energy and government initiatives, practical light-emitting diode(LED) lighting fixtures have emerged and are being distributed, resulting in very large energy savings. However, in actual use of LED lighting, it is possible to use it as an individual, but when using a large street light or a whole home lighting, the whole lighting system is realized due to various problems such as efficiency, stability, and reliability. Doing so has several problems. Although AC-LED has been developed recently to solve safety problems such as heat generation phenomenon of the conventional DC-LED, it also has various problems such as quality safety and reliability, which are difficult to use as outdoor lighting using existing AC Power. This happens. Accordingly, the appropriate power for AC-LED should be developed and applied, and the emergence of such LED lighting will play a role as a tool that can overcome the limitations of existing LED lighting and implement sustainable energy saving.

  • Lighting energy accounts for approximately 20% of the electrical energy used worldwide. Thus, High efficiency Light emitting diode(LED)lighting is getting more popular as the next generation lighting replaced to traditional lighting fixtures. Also, LED lighting not only has a long lifetime but also can realize a variety visual environments through the wavelengh control. The lighting energy varies depending on the Spectral Power Distribution(SPD) even though the Illuminance level is same. Therefore, This study indicates that the difference of indoor energy consumption under the same illuminance level when Spectral Power Distribution(SPD) is different. As a result, Lighting energy consumption under red-color emphasizing SPD is about 10% lower than under blue-color emphasizing SPDs.

  • Commercialization of surface lighting using Light Emitting Diodes (LED) has embraced the advance to Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology. This is necessary to achieve light-efficiency-improvement and longer component life. The range of application of LED lighting for both interior and outdoor lights has been gradually expanding. Automobiles and home appliances are now included. In the case of LED surface lighting in a domestic refrigerator, achieving high efficiency requires optimization of the number of LEDs in a pack. Optimization is also required in the design stage of development with regard to the conversion of the light source type from point light sources to the surface light type. This paper addresses these design problems. It presents a study of brightness variations for design solutions that differ from the existing technology in both the number of LED packages and use of Light Gathering Power (LGP) information. The intention is to facilitate production of high brightness LED surface lighting for domestic refrigerators.

  • Background and objective: Various images from visual display terminals (VDTs) as well as living lighting are important parts of our daily life; thus, properly controlling the lighting environment - that is, illuminance, color temperature and good images from VDTs - can have a substantial effect on improving the mental health and work efficiency in everyday life. We examined electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV) responses to various lighting conditions in 25 university students as they viewed images of a green landscape or traffic congestion. Methods: EEG was performed in darkness and when the room was illuminated with 10 different light-emitting diode (LED) color temperatures, while the EEG and HRV responses to green landscape or traffic congestion image stimuli were measured in darkness and during room illumination with three different LED color temperatures. Results: We found a significant difference between darkness and high LED illumination (400 lx) at 7 (CZ, F4, FZ, O1, O2, OZ, and T6) of 30 channels, while the alpha wave activity increased during darkness. In the second experiment, the green landscape image stimuli in the 30 lx-2600 K lighting condition elicited theta wave activity on the EEG, whereas the traffic congestion image stimuli under high LED illumination elicited high beta and gamma wave activities. Moreover, the subjects exhibited better stress coping ability and heart rate stability in response to green landscape image stimuli under illuminated conditions, according to their HRV. Conclusion: These results suggest that lower color temperatures and illumination levels alleviate tension, and that viewing green landscape image stimuli at low illumination, or in darkness, is effective for reducing stress. Conversely, high illumination levels and color temperatures are likely to increase tension and stress in response to traffic congestion image stimuli.

  • In this paper, we propose the landscape lighting power control system with solar sell generator equipment for energy saving, and also which is included the landscape lighting power transformation device. The power transformation device can check inverse current in the power of the solar cell module and control the power of the battery. And we present the design of landscape lighting power control system. The power control system uses microprocessor with charging system and power transformation device. And also it can control the power of loads under consideration intensity of illumination. The landscape lighting loads are composed of LED(Lighting Emitting Diode) and HID(High Intensity Discharge)lamps. To evaluate property, we installed the solar cell array which generate three kilo watt power. Experimental results show that the proposed system can have stability and energy saving on the mixed configuration of electric loads with DC and AC lamps.

  • Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) research field has received great attention from academic and industrial circles. Recently, The technical feature of OLEDs is more and more attractive in the lighting market, including area emission characteristics different from other existing light sources. Features are environmentally friendly and efficient use of energy, large area, ultra-light weight, and ultrathin shape, etc. Furthermore, OLED light became the mainstream of next-generation lighting to replace the light emitting diode (LED) fluorescent light. This article summarizes phosphorescent emitting materials that have been applied to white OLEDs. In particular, the chemical structures and device performances of the important yellow, orange, and red phosphorescent emitting materials is discussed. Systematic classification and understanding of the phosphorescent materials can aid the development of new light-emitting materials.

  • In this paper, luminaire optical efficiency and luminous intensity according to array of HB(high brightness) white LED(light emitting diode) and globe types of luminaire were simulated by computer and made a comparative analysis. LEDs were arranged by square of 7ea X 7ea. LED space has been divided into 8.2mm, 10mm and 15mm that mean distances between luminous centers of LEDs, and luminaire globes were classified into 30mm and 50mm 묘묘 from luminous center of LEDs. Also the simulations were made with / without globe, globe types were specified by convex and embossing types of which sizes are 8.2mm and 5.0mm, So total 27 classes of simulation were performed. This paper is to help luminire development using LED light source called digital lighting of 21th century, by studying luminire effciency and luminous intensity of different types of globes.

  • Light emitting diode(LED) has many advantages including lower energy consumption and longer lifetime and eco-friendly in comparison with traditional light sources. Spheric plastic lens generally used in LED lighting occurs aberration and ghost image which give displeasure and deteriorate vision quality in human eyes. Using the optical program (LightTools$^{TM}$, CodeV$^{TM}$), we were confirm the aberration and ghost image in optical simulation and employed aspheric lens form in the lens design to improve these problems. From the comparison of the simulation results between the aspheric lens and the spheric lens, we were ascertain to be improved both aberration and Ghost image.

  • This study proposes a single-stage light-emitting diode (LED) tube lamp driver with input-current shaping for T8/T10-type fluorescent lamp replacements. The proposed AC-DC LED driver integrates a dual-boost converter with coupled inductors and a half-bridge series-resonant converter with a bridge rectifier into a single-stage power conversion topology. This paper presents the operational principles and design considerations for one T8-type 18 W-rated LED tube lamp with line input voltages ranging from 100 V rms to 120 V rms. Experimental results for the prototype driver show that the highest power factor (PF = 0.988), lowest input current total harmonic distortion (THD = 7.22%), and highest circuit efficiency (η = 92.42%) are obtained at an input voltage of 120 V. Hence, the proposed driver is feasible for use in energy-efficient indoor lighting applications.
