Automotive Adaptive Front Lighting Requiring Only On/Off Modulation of Multi-array LEDs

  • The Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) is a part of the active safety system, providing optimized vision to the driver during night time and other poor-sight conditions of the road by automatic adaptation of lighting to environmental and traffic conditions. Basically, an AFS provides four different modes of the passing beam as designated in an United Nations Economic Commission for Europe regulation (ECE324-R123): neutral state or country light (Class C), urban light (Class V), highway light (Class E), and adverse weather light (Class W). In this paper, we first present an optics design for an AFS system capable of producing the Class C/V/E/W patterns requiring only on/off modulation of multi-array LEDs with no need for any additional mechanical components. The AFS optics consists of two separated modules, cutoff and spread; the cutoff module lights a narrow central area with high luminous intensity, satisfying the cutoff regulation, and the spread module forms a wide spread beam of low luminous intensity. Each module consists of two major parts; the first converts a discretely positioned LED array into a full-filled area emitting light source plane, and the second projects the light source plane to a 25 m away target plane. With the combination of these two optics modules, the four beam patterns are formed by simple on/off modulation of multi-array LEDs. Then we report the development of a prototype that was demonstrated to provide the four beam patterns.

호텔 일식당 주방의 조명 환경에 대한 조리사들의 인식도 분석 - 서울 지역 특1급 호텔을 대상으로 - (Cooks' Perception of Lighting in Kitchens of Japanese Restaurants in First-Class Hotels)

  • This study aims at determining what affects lighting environment of a kitchen in a Japanese restaurant in a hotel and at analyzing. cooks' perception during cooking and appropriate lighting they consider to be important in each working area. For this purpose, 196 cooks working in Japanese restaurants in first-class hotels participated in a survey. After analyzing the results, cooks attach importance to illumination during cooking, and the more inappropriate luminosity is in each working area, the lower appropriateness of luminosity recognized by cooks is. And there is strong correlation between lighting environment items and illumination in each working area. The results suggest that cooks working in a Japanese restaurant in a hotel should be provided with good lighting environment appropriate for each working area. On this ground, it is expected that cooks will see their health and productivity improving.

  • 세계 조명시장은 시대적 변화에 대응하여 기술과 방법론적인 성장을 하고 있다. 그러나 국내 조명시장은 단순한 가격경쟁만을 고집하고 있고 이에 보다 효과적인 조명기술의 개발과 조명 기구디자인프로세스의 정립을 위해 본 연구가 진행되었으며, 연구모델은 PLS조명기술개발프로젝트 중, 300W급 조명기구를 대상으로 하였다. 이 연구를 통해 진일보한 조명기술과 신제품디자인의 상호보완적 개발프로세스를 확립하고, 국내 경관조명시장의 국산화 및 국내 조명 산업의 경쟁력 제고에 기여코자 한다.

  • The not an organization a branch stream the maintenance factor class on a class and the roadway type for roadway lighting design, the facted an insufficiency maintenance factor to apply our the country conditions. The consideration of maintenance factors is not being fully applied for roadway lighting design in Korea. This paper consider optical characteristics and maintenance factors as well as LID of Luminaires in designing roadway lighting. Consideration of maintenance factors that are neme specified according to LDD(Luminaire Dirt Depreciation), LLD(Lamp Lumen Depreciation), AADT(Average Annual Daily Traffic) based on IESNA regulation. The analyzed optical characteristics are applied for stagger and cross roadway types with maintenance factors in the range of 0.51$\sim$1.00 and equipment factor of 0.9.

  • This study examined the P Church in the Large chapel and S Church in the midium chapel were Analyzed to the installed stage broadcast lighting system. As a result of the installation of lighting equipment of LED class in P Church in the Large chapel, it provided clearer image and did not have shadow. While tungsten halogen illumination was very hot and heated to be preaching, LED was not heated so the pastor was very comfortable for preaching. S Church in the Midium chapel due to low ceiling height using LED lighting musical, theater and possibly were directed. If a similar structure of Dae-Hak Street theater to replace the existing fixtures by LED lighting, rendering effective and energy saving effect is thought to have much effect.

  • 본 논문은 친환경적이며 차세대 광원인 LED 광원을 이용한 감성조명 LED 형광등을 개발하여 학생들의 학교생활 공간인 교실에 필요한 안정성과 활동성을 주는 교실조명을 만들어 보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 감성조명 LED 형광등의 설계는 색상변환용 제어 컨트롤러, LED램프에 안정한 전원을 공급하기 위한 구동시스템, LED램프 및 램프를 구성하기 위한 PCB판, 케이스 등으로 구성하여 설계하였다. 설계된 감성조명용 LED 형광등의 시제품을 개발하였으며, 실험을 통하여 개발된 시스템의 동작과 필요한 색상을 얻을 수 있음을 증명하였다.

Analysis and Design of a DC-Side Symmetrical Class-D ZCS Rectifier for the PFC of Lighting Applications

  • This paper proposes the analysis and design of a DC-side symmetrical zero-current-switching (ZCS) Class-D current-source driven resonant rectifier to improve the low power-factor and high line current harmonic distortion of lighting applications. An analysis of the junction capacitance effect of Class-D ZCS rectifier diodes, which has a significant impact on line current harmonic distortion, is discussed in this paper. The design procedure is based on the principle of the symmetrical Class-D ZCS rectifier, which ensures more accurate results and provides a more systematic and feasible analysis methodology. Improvement in the power quality is achieved by using the output characteristics of the DC-side Class-D ZCS rectifier, which is inserted between the front-end bridge-rectifier and the bulk-filter capacitor. By using this symmetrical topology, the conduction angle of the bridge-rectifier diode current is increased and the low line harmonic distortion and power-factor near unity were naturally achieved. The peak and ripple values of the line current are also reduced, which allows for a reduced filter-inductor volume of the electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter. In addition, low-cost standard-recovery diodes can be employed as a bridge-rectifier. The validity of the theoretical analysis is confirmed by simulation and experimental results.

  • Lighting is the single most important part of the design of a retail store. Good lighting can enhance a product's appearance, accentuate a special display, balance the visual elements of a store, and create the proper mood. In shops the lighting is required to draw the customer's attention to the goods help him to appraise them, and provide an atmosphere conducive to sales. The method will vary according to the types of good displayed, the form of trading, the design of the shop, and the class of customers expected. For the all reason, this study is focused on how the lighting design effects the customer's interest to the goods and intended to prescribe the possibilities of effective lighting design.

  • Photometric analysis is essential process to make design for 300W Electrodeless flood lighting fixture. But lighting source's unusual shape makes it difficult to fix in and so we supposed two kinds of installation method to solve this matter. One is to place lamp base down and second is to put lamp base side like normal HID lamps. In result, former photometric analysis came to reach a target for similar asymmetric photometric data meanwhile we can not escape work to design complicated reflector. Second analysis reached conclusion that it is more simplified reflector than former. On its lighting fixture's design, the former reflector is new and attractive breaking fixed idea but the latter is only staying in the range of existing HID lighting design.

광화이버 및 Fresnel lens 적용 집광식 자연채광 시스템의 이용을 통한 조명에너지의 절감: 시뮬레이션 및 실측 비교 (Electric Lighting Energy Saving Through the Use of A Fresnel Lens Based Fiber-optic Solar Lighting System: Simulation and Measurements)

  • This paper deals with the effectiveness of a fiber optic solar lighting system that uses a Fresnel lens mounted on a two-axis solar tracker. A series of comparative analyses were made concerning its performance as compared to fluorescent lighting by using a simulation model based on ECOTECT and RADIANCE as well as referring to actual data. ECOTECT was used to model the test room (space) while RADIANCE was used for its indoor lighting conditions (environment). It was found that the average indoor light levels of fluorescent lighting fully satisfy the KS standard (KS A 3011, general office, class [G]: 300-400-600 lux) whereas those of the solar lighting with light diffusers depends on the occlusion factor of roller shades installed on the south window.
