A Study on Dance Costumes (무용 예술 의상에 관한 연구)

  • Dancing along with mankind has existed in various ways form old age to the present. This dancing combined with artistic meaning is called the art of dancing. This study is mainly about the functions decorations and expressions of dancing costume and the claracteristics of the costumes by the 20th century designers Leon bakst Oskar Schlemer Pablo Picasso. The dancing costume were not so much different from those of the public from old age to middle age. In 18th and 19th centuries the length of the cotstumes become short from the knee to the thigh. The functions have much to do with the development of dancing for example the appearance of toeshoes. The costumes are designed not to prevent the movements of dancers smooth line in old age and ladylike vend high-blown line in the 18th and 19th centuries. Cotton and hemp textiles are turning into the transparent forms such as lace and gauge. The personal ornaments earings and necklaces have change into the pattern with wings and tassels. The dancing costumes of Leon Bakst Oskar Schlemer and Pablo Picasso are designed after the due consideration of body shape. Bakst focused on the beauty of smooth lines with splendid colors and decorations. Schlemer analyzed the body abstractly and metaphysically and expressed it with detaile and simple lines. Picasso emphasized cubic forms with cubism and expressed the characteristics of costumes with clear colors and smooth curved line. Bakst Schlemer and Picasso made the early 20th century the age of functional dancing costumes putting a light on the concept of space and foundation for the modern dancing costumes.

  • Contemporary 21st century, the rapid development of technology has achieved due to the emergence of various digital devices, a variety of media to the diversification of the limits of visual representation is reduced. Therefore, the combination of technology and art, visual arts, giving limits of getting it free to the public will feel fresh new visual impact. Such a new approach to light of a combination of technology and art, a variety of fine art and motion picture of the visual arts, such as has been recognized as a new genre. Of the resolution of the projector by utilizing the current reality and unreality beyond the boundaries of the building or structure in the city, as a schematic design of the screen projected structure and mapping of the art technology in an attempt to integrate recent has been studied in various ways. The projected structure design and the mapping of the art technology in an attempt to incorporate recent research has been diverse. In this study, as a new technology of a projection mapping to study the technique of looking for the definition of mapping practices to maximize the effectiveness of Visual Perception 3D animation was applied to a case study. A combination of 3D animation and project mapping in the future the fusion of art and technology to meet the zeitgeist with new possibilities of visual art to create synergies that is expected.

  • State of the art and current issues related with the RC and PSC structure system for the magnetic levitation train were investigated. The German and China magnetic levitation train adopted a new kind of a structure to enable high-speed transportation, which allows the use of the space over a ground. The loading from magnetic levitation trains is light-weight compared with a regular train due to load distribution to a supporting structure. Therefore, the magnetic levitation train is considered an economical and efficient transportation system, and is also an environmentally-sustainable structure. In this paper, the structural design and construction technology specific to a magnetic levitation train were discussed, and structural considerations related with an actual operation of the train were pointed out. In addition, the future research area of a magnetic levitation train was proposed

  • The essence of Chinese landscape architecture is realization of a space that embraces nature and human integrating the openness and encloseness. The concept of landscape architecture that artificially furnishes natural elegance into urban areas coincides with the spiritual basis of Chinese literati-painting which subjectifies the scenery of objective world and entrusts personal feelings on that. In other words, the ultimate ideal of Chinese landscape architecture is embodying the Utopia of confucian intellectual in a city. This paper has tried to shed a light on inter-relationship of literati-painting theory and Chinese landscape architecture theory through comparing them. It is the identical spiritual basis they shared harmoniously that made landscape architecture, poetry and painting possible to meet.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the innovation of Vidal Sassoon's hair design. His hair styling was created in 1950-60, and it was related to the Zeitgeist, 'Convulsion'. It was aesthetic reform that eliminated artificially of headdress through new design concept and high technique. It was social renovation that changed women's life through freedom, ease and mobility of hair form. Also, it was scientific innovation that emphasized improvement of hair care. Therefore this researcher set a high value on his contribution in beauty industry, and studied the formative characteristics of his hair styling. The results are as follows: The formative characteristics are classified into the simplicity of form, the mobility of construction, and the variety of color and texture. 1. The simplicity of form showed through geometric form. Vidal Sassoon's hair design had the overthrow traditional concept of femininity and beauty; in addition, it conferred freedom on not only hair itself but also women's action. 2. The naturalism and mobility of construction was found in layered and softly swinging hair made up by skillful cutting technique. It was developed by studying on the dynamism of sports in 1984 LA Olympic games. 3. The variety of color and texture showed conspicuously its visual evidence because of the simplicity of form. Especially, he borrowed factors of fine art, that is to say, form, space, texture, line, color and light, and created a performance art. His work is analyzed into an art, and he is one of the best artists.

A Study on the Embodiment of Architectural Concept in Felix Nussbaum Museum (펠릭스 누스바움 박물관의 건축 개념 구현 방식에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the way of embodying architectural concept in Nussbaum Museum for complementing present abstract and generalized research. This study tries to examine the close relationship between a certain concept and Nussbaum museum through analyzing architectural characteristics and searching its principles by concrete application of concept. The Architectural concept "Museum without exit", which Libeskind applied to Nussbaum Museum, is based on the dramatic life of Jewish painter Felix Nussbaum with relation to Holocaust, physical background of site and features of program, Libeskind Applied his architectural concept from the beginning to the most parts of the museum. His new museum subverts notions and logic of general features of existing museums. Libeskind's architectural concepts are especially applied to site plan, massing, circulation and spatial configuration. "Museum without exit" creates labyrinth like circulation based on stories including Nussbaum's life, his painting tendency and circumstances of those days. It also realize sensuous space through spatial shape and light control. Although some critics criticize that this museum is not suitable for paint collection because of overwhelming strength of architectural space. However, considering this museum's function of a kind of Holocaust museum beyond personal art gallery, Libeskind's 'museum without exit' shows effective realization of architectural concept for Jewish painter Felix Nussbaum's museum.

Analysis of the Spatial Structure of Zaha Hadid's Museum using Space Syntax (공간구문론을 이용한 자하 하디드 뮤지엄 건축의 공간구조 분석)

  • Buildings of the de-constructive tendency beyond definite forms are being constructed in countries with economic power, technical skills and open culture because they require social conditions to accommodate those buildings as well as a lot of construction expenses. Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid can be chosen as the representative architects of de-constructivism series who are currently working hard. Though both of them are architects belonging to the de-constructivism category, their works show different construction due to the differences in architectural philosophy and working ways. Gehry consider Architect as a fine art and enjoy (sculpture) three-dimensional structure work through Rough Model. With increasing demand for landmark atypical buildings, Hadid has been frequently awarded in the recent series of International Competitions and deals with a lot of cultural works. Affected by absolutism, Hadid showed various diagonal lines in her early construction and works based on the theme of dynamics such as lightness, gliding and light contact with the ground etc. Hadid's Architecture which worked under the theme of dynamic contains a variety of diagonal lines that might cause the viewers to have difficulty on spatial awareness, thus It is known that Hadid's Architecture has lower efficiency on the Circulation and difficulty on spatial cognition compared to the typical museum. According to the research findings of the previous paper that space understanding of viewers on Frank Gehry Museum consisting of complicated planes is generally better than that of them on a typical museum, the purpose of this study is to find out the Circulation efficiency and spatial cognition of Hadid Museum by explaining the space structure of dynamic Hadid Museum and the difference compared to typical museum.

A Study on Performance Evaluation of Light Shelf according to the Reflectivity of Interior Space (실내 공간의 반사율에 따른 광선반 성능평가 연구)

  • There has been a significant increase in the amount of research on reducing the lighting power consumption of buildings and also an increasing demand for technological development. Light shelf has been recognized as one of the most efficient solutions to this issue and related researches have been conducted, which have mostly focused on factors related to simple light shelves and are not suitable as an appropriate basis for the design of light shelves. Thus this study aims to establish the proper design basis for light shelves by evaluating the performance of shelves per reflection rate in indoor areas. Power consumption rate and indoor illumination intensity distribution of a testbed built based on actual living conditions were calculated for the performance evaluation, of which the results are as following: 1) Reduction of reflection rate of ceiling and walls caused average illumination intensity in summer, winter and median seasons, and evenness per reflection rate of indoor areas was found to be different in summer, winter and median seasons, making it a necessary consideration for designing light shelves. 2) Calculation of power consumption from lighting control showed that a high reflection rate of indoor areas may be suitable for power consumption reduction, and that reflection rates higher than 80% for ceilings and higher than 75% for walls in terms of the efficiency of researches on the indoor reflection rate and its application would be appropriate. This study is meaningful as the research focuses on light shelves based on considering indoor environmental factors. More studies will be required that consider a variety of factors.
