  • The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of lifelong educators' core competencies as a mediating effect on adult learners' ability to function. The subject of this study was aimed at adult learners participating in lifelong education programs at lifelong educational institutions located in Gyeonggi Province. and was finally used for a total of 520 additional analyses. The main findings of this study are as follows: first, regarding the correlation between the core competence of lifelong educators and the life ability of adult learners, core competence has a static association with wisdom. In addition, wisdom has a high static association with life expectancy. Second, the core competence and wisdom of lifelong educators were found to have a significant static impact on adult learners' life abilities, accounting for 66.8%. Specifically, the most significant predictors of life's ability were creative problem solving, consideration for others, and acceptance of change, which were lower factors of wisdom. Third, the impact of a lifetime educator's core competence on adult learners is not significant. It was found that core competence has an indirect influence on life capacity through the mediating effect of wisdom, and that wisdom has directly interfaced the relationship between core competence and life ability. Taken together, these results proved that the core competence and wisdom of a lifelong educator are important variables for adult learner's life abilities. Based on this, the core competence of lifelong educators being taught in the field of lifelong education should be enhanced, and the ability of adult learners to utilize the wisdom that has been developed through the experiences of adult learners, to improve their life skills.

  • The development in information technology resulted in an interest for lifelong education, which caused a rapid growth in the educational web based e-Iearning industry. The spread of e-Iearning industries and educational facilities emphasized the need for educational contents with the purpose of online lecturing along with the rapid development of contents production technology. Flash contents provide multimedia, animation, and etc. with diverse and visual expressions, so the complicated interactions with the learner can be easily materialized. The advantage of having a high quality, user-centered interface is that it provides a trigger of interest and arousal of concentration for the user, but it is difficult for teachers to directly create or manipulate educational flash animation contents. This paper is written to technologically methodize the automation of educational programs that the teachers wish to make by reusing the educational flash animation contents.

This study conducted a systematic random sampling. Questionnaires were distributed to home economics teachers from 285 middle schools, 123 high schools, and 130 of them were sampled as the subjects of this study. The results of this study were as follows. First, home economics teachers were active participating school lifelong educational program. But according to the result of research on the actual condition, the proportion of taking part in it was low. More than half of home economics teachers who took part in program's lecturer were in charge of computer courses. So they didn't show their ability as expert. Also they were in charge of several works than roll of lecturers. It was mentioned too great a burden. There is little in-service training for meeting specialization for school lifelong education. They wanted to take part of lecturers of program and preferred hours of being over class. More than half of them had intended to obtain a lifelong educator's license. The part of elective courses for obtaining a lifelong educator's license is similar to home economics educational contents. So, they have an advantage of obtaining it. Second, one-fifth of school that gave school life education carried out program of related home economics. Mostly they had mothers of students-oriented programs on artistic and leisure. But this is that home economics teachers mentioned less important teaching at society in the future. They importantly mentioned program on children's education in now and the future. Parents of students and local residents also extremely wanted it. For differentiated school life education, quality of programs is important greatly. Third, the actual condition of practical room relating home economics is only practice to cook mostly. So they are reluctant to be open it because of being responsible for the results from using there. It is necessary to ameliorate there's facilities and to increase there's area. Fourth, home economics teachers want to improve their specialization through in-service training, to develop and diffuse programs of superior quality, and to get extra pay for overtime from the government.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose actual operation condition of Japanese lecture based on social welfare organizations located in Seoul to investigate the current status and problems of Japanese language education in terms of lifelong education. According to the result of this study, the remarkable point was that a majority of Japanese lecture courses are highly focused on the elderly and 86% of the welfare organizations are providing free education. Regarding the effect of specialized business for the aged run by social welfare community center, it says, as Korea changing to aging society at the beginning of 21st century, it has put focus on strengthening personal competences of seniors through opportunities for participation in lifelong education, recreational activity programs and culture classes. It means foreign language classes are operating as one of the lifelong education programs for reinforcement of individual capability. Considering this tendency, it is expected that the lifelong education participation rate of the elder in Seoul will be raised. So, systematic improvements will be needed for this. First, it is required to recognize the existence of Educational and Cultural Industry and work hard to make it public so it could be invigorated and utilized by people usefully at the same time. Second, Japanese language training that mostly 55-year-old or more than 60-year-old people receive at the welfare center needs to be systematized for preparations on proper studying environment which provides the older with appropriate education method and content as well. Third, stable and systematic operation should be available through the link with experts in the field of Japanese language education and elderly education. Fourth, education program development is needed, which is able to satisfy one's desires for learning. Hence, targeting Japanese learners at each welfare center, we need to know the estimation of satisfaction degree and consciousness on learning Japanese. Finally, it has not been studied sufficiently regarding the instructors on teaching Japanese language in this paper, but it has been reported that most of social welfare centers, where Japanese language lectures are provided, are run by volunteers who can teach Japanese. Thus, the study on actual condition for Japanese language instructors will be conducted as well later on.

  • The main functions of university are research, teaching and social service. University would be developed only when all three functions are organically interacted. In this view, Korean universities have relatively weak in their social service function. On the other hand, Philippines universities are more developed than Korean universities. Taking the university to the people, rather than bringing the people to the university, is the goal of extension education in the Philippines university. The techniques of extension have bees consultation, demonstration, short courses, and correspondence of distance education. Especially in the Philippines, some agricultural universities have their own extension services besides those sponsored by the government. Since it is thought to be closest to the ideal system for bringing about agricultural development, and even though Philippines system has brought about many outstanding results, it would be very difficult to follow this pattern in Korea. Before we try to follow Philippines experience, we can not avoid the criticism on our preset extension education programs that they are usually poor organized, money oriented and routinizied. In order to improve the university`s extension function, universities should provide and develop various programs to meet the community`s educational demands positively and should, in the long run, open its facilities to the community to become a center of lifelong education.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the policy and programs of the Seoul50Plus Foundation and to propose policies and programs to promote active aging of middle-aged and elderly people. A single case study was utilized as a research method. The analysis framework of case was approached with four frameworks: the context of policy and program, ideology-goal analysis of policy and program, supplier and customer analysis of policy and program, and process and domain analysis of policy and program. The analysis data included the homepage content of the Seoul50Plus Foundation, related 50+ policy and program data, active aging research papers at home and abroad, and presentation and meeting materials. The results of the research showed that the policy and program background and environment were essential elements for responding to environmental changes in the aging society. In terms of the philosophy-goal, job creation, social participation, and approach to life design were systematically carried out for the ideology of 'creating a new life vision' and promoting active aging. In terms of subject-target, the subject of policy implementation is systematically composed of three stages: 50+ foundation, 50+ campus, and 50+ center. The target was limited to 50+ generations(age 50~64) and had a problem that is limited to applicants. In the process-area analysis, programs such as educational support, work and entrepreneurship support, counseling information, and new-age cultural creation activities were designed to increase added value according to the characteristics of the middle-aged people. In conclusion, the future Seoul50Plus Foundation's policy and lifelong learning programs need to be systematically promoted through cooperation with businesses and universities, expanding the target audience, matching the characteristics of the middle-aged and elderly, and linkage among programs.
