The experimental group consisted of 40 students from S middle school, Control group-Iconsisted of 39 students from S middle school, and Control group-II consisted of 47 students from Y middle school. The experimental group was provided with 12 incidences of the life-respect education program from April 1st to June 29th. One period took 45 minutes and proceeded according to a structure of introduction, development, and consolidation. The experimental group received a life-respect education program, Control group-I received health teaching, but Control group-II didn't receive any special education except what was regularly part of their curriculum. The content of the life-respect education program included the following topics: value of life-respect, respect for human life and ethics, life-respect campaign, having a healthy mind, suicide prevention, dealing with crisis, prevention of school violence, abortion and life-respect, social weak minority consideration, death, brain death, euthanasia, life cycle and task, and forest activities. Questionnaires were administered as pre and post-tests which consisted of questions regarding death anxiety, suicide risk, and values on life-respect. The pre and post-tests were analyzed with t-tests, paired t-tests, ANOVAs, and factor analyses using SPSS 18.0. Results: 1. There was a statistically significant increase in the experimental group(p<.0001) and control group-I(p<0.05) in value and attitude about life-respect. On the other hand, it was shown that there was no difference between pre and post-test in control group-II. 2. The result of examining the differences between pre and post-tests after education on values and attitudes toward life-respect using ANCOVA showed, there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) among the three groups. Conclusion: the life-respect education program which was conducted over 12 meeting with middle school students had an positive effect, which can be used as basic data for fostering values on life-respect. These findings indicate that the life-respect education program this study used is effective for fostering value of life-respect and decreasing suicide risk.

  • In modern society, it is necessary to develop sustainable housing to protect environment. There should be a study on long life housing that satisfies living condition which residents require. Long life housing research is already activating in many developed countries. Although activation of long life housing is urgent, domestically, immaturity of technology development and law and system are barrier to progression of long life housing. Increase of early construction expenses is also problematic in activation of long life housing. The purpose of this research is to clarify a necessity of long life housing, to provide high quality of sustainable residence and to protect environment. This research also suggests a need of change from previous housing to long life housing. Moreover, it will look at related law and system of domestic long life housing and compare it to international law and system. From this comparison, it will point out a need of improvement and suggest appropriate long life housing system.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing the health status and life satisfaction of elders in welfare facilities. Methods: The subjects of this study were selected randomly among those without cognitive impairment from free (140 persons) and charged (140 persons) welfare facilities in the Yeongnam area. Data was analyzed using t-test and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Health status and life satisfaction were 2.52 and 1.98, respectively, in the elders from free welfare facilities, and 2.67 and 2.08 respectively, in the elders from charged welfare facilities. In those from free facilities, life satisfaction and motivation for getting into the welfare facility were the influencing factors of health status. In those from charged facilities, life satisfaction, gender, motivation for getting into the welfare facility, limited service such as physiotherapy, age, and lack of staff and professionalism were the influence factors of health status. In those from free facilities, health status, relationship conflict with fellow elders, lack of staff and professionalism, insufficient facilities and inadequate environment, and indifference of sons and daughters were the influence factors of life satisfaction. In those from charged facilities, health status, education and age were the influence factors of life satisfaction. Conclusions: It was found that both health status and life satisfaction of elders in charged welfare facilities were higher than those in free welfare facilities.

This study process is as follows. In the first a vocabulary of interior design was derived from three conceptual characteristics and six expression characteristics, and spatial facts was abstracted from it, and then volume, form, and then shape of composition facts of interior space was extracted from it. Finally the expression characteristics of the Wabi-Sabi in interior design was derived from these processes. In conclusion, the expression characteristics of the Wabi-Sabi in interior design is the transitional space through a Shadow, the conversional space through form and material composition, and the copying space through a natural friendship.

  • What is the life of an assistant professor working at a college of education look like? The purpose of this paper is to describe and understand the life of an assistant professor as a science education researcher and as a teacher educator from exploring his life in a local national university. The researcher (I) conducted an autobiographic research in which I reconstructed and reflected my life by myself. I collected data/records on the life of myself, and developed a framework to classify them. The life of an assistant professor was categorized into the official life at the university and the personal life, and the former was sorted into education, research, and service and the latter was divided into personal and family. From the various profiles of my life, I found the main theme of 'change' and 'learning,' from which I reconstructed my life in narratives. I can express myself as an assistant professor with 'from myself to others,' 'balancing society and isolation,' and 'increasing room to maneuver through continuous learning.' I reflected my life and the role of a professor at a college of education, and discussed the educational implication of the result.

  • The genus Clubiona Latreille, 1804 is the most diverse and largest one in the family Clubionidae Wagner, 1887. Twenty-nine species of the genus have been described in various ecosystems from Korea to date. Clubiona semicircularis Tang, Song and Zhu, 2005 which was formerly only known in China and Clubiona ansa n. sp. were collected with a sweep net on the foliage of the shrubs in mixed forests from mountains and agricultural landscape during a seasonal survey of the spider fauna in Korea. This study describes these two species with a diagnosis, measurements, and morphological illustrations. In addition, the female of C. semicircularis is described with a diagnosis for the first time from the present study.

  • Five newly recorded species of cyanobacteria in Korea are Sphaerospermopsis reniformis(Aphanizomenonaceae) from Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do; Pelatocladus maniniholoensis (Hapalosiphonaceae) from Ulleung-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do; Tolypothrix carrinoi (Tolypothrichaceae) and Myxacorys chilensis (Leptolyngbyaceae) from Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do; and Tildeniella torsiva (Oculatellaceae) from Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do. These species are morphologically similar to each of its corresponding type species, and clustered in the same clade with respective type species in the phylogeny using 16S rRNA. The similarity of 16S rRNA sequences was more than 98.5% with each of its respective type species.

  • Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) induced a significant neurite extension of antennal lobe (AL) neurons from the silk moth Bombyx mori in culture on lamini/ concanavalin A-coated dishes, in comparison with smaller effect of 20-hydroxyecdy-sone (20-HE). But the effect fur neurite extension by 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) could not be found. A significant increase in the number of new primary branches from the principal neurites of AL neurons was also shown in culture with BDNF and 5-HT, but not with 20-HE. (omitted)
