  • Purpose - In this study, we would like to analyze how the general characteristics of retired senior citizens affect directly the satisfaction of retirees' lives. As the life cycle continues to grow longer, post-retirement environment is recognized as important, and this study is conducted to analysis the factors that concerns which parts influence future retirement life. Research design, data, and methodology - First, Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted to analyze the correlation between the satisfaction of retirement life and the characteristics of the elderly. Secondly, a one-way analysis of variance was conducted to find out the difference in the satisfaction level of post-retirement life depending on the characteristics of the elderly. Results - First, the demographic factors for the satisfaction of retirement life have shown a definite difference. Second, the family factors for the satisfaction of retirement life have shown a clear difference. Third, financial factors for the satisfaction of retirement life have shown a clear difference. Conclusions - Early retirement, especially in major jobs, is the basis for incomplete retirement preparation, which is a factor in unstable later life. If a prospective retiree can retire in a predictable retirement age, it would be sufficient to prepare for retirement in various areas, or to prepare for further directions.

  • Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are widespread soil endophytic fungi, forming mutualistic relationships with the vast majority of land plants. Biochar (BC) has been reported to improve soil fertility and promote plant growth. However, limited studies are available concerning the combined effects of AMF and BC on soil community structure and plant growth. In this work, a pot experiment was designed to investigate the effects of AMF and BC on the rhizosphere microbial community of Allium fistulosum L. Using Illumina high-throughput sequencing, we showed that inoculation of AMF and BC had a significant impact on soil microbial community composition, diversity, and versatility. Increases were observed in both plant growth (the plant height by 8.6%, shoot fresh weight by 12.1%) and root morphological traits (average diameter by 20.5%). The phylogenetic tree also showed differences in the fungal community composition in A. fistulosum. In addition, Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) effect size (LEfSe) analysis revealed that 16 biomarkers were detected in the control (CK) and AMF treatment, while only 3 were detected in the AMF + BC treatment. Molecular ecological network analysis showed that the AMF + BC treatment group had a more complex network of fungal communities, as evidenced by higher average connectivity. The functional composition spectrum showed significant differences in the functional distribution of soil microbial communities among different fungal genera. The structural equation model (SEM) confirmed that AMF could improve the microbial multifunctionality by regulating the rhizosphere fungal diversity and soil properties. Our findings provide new information on the effects of AMF and biochar on plants and soil microbial communities.

  • In this paper, welding pitch optimization technique of vehicle subframe is presented considering the fatigue life of spot welding nuggets. Fatigue life of spot welding nuggets is estimated by using the frequency-domain fatigue analysis technique. The input data, which are used in the fatigue analysis, are obtained by performing the dynamic analysis of vehicle model passing through the Belgian road profile and also the modal frequency response analysis of finite element model of vehicle subframe. According to the fatigue life result obtained from the frequency-domain fatigue analysis, the design points to optimize the weld pitch distance are determined. For obtaining the welding pitch combination to maximize the fatigue life of the spot welding nuggets, 4-factor, 3-level orthogonal array experimental design is used. This study shows that the optimized subframe improves the fatigue life of welding nugget with minimum fatigue life about 65.8 % as compared with the baseline design.

  • Using the first wave of KLoSA(Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing) beta version, this study analyzed factors affecting early retired men's subjective life satisfaction through Binary Logit and Multiple Regression. Total 552 men were selected as a sample. The main results of empirical analysis in this study were as follows: The retirement reason(health-) and monthly household income(+) affected whether they were satisfied with the retirement life or not and subjective life satisfaction over all. Especially, the retirement reason(health-) had a stronger effect on whether early retired min were satisfied with the retirement life or not and their subjective life satisfaction than monthly household income revealed significant variable in previous studies. This result represents that the retiree's life satisfaction analysis model must include retiree's characteristics at the time of retirement as well as retiree's current status characteristics or socio-economic characteristics.
