In the development of a university library's collection, the concept of patron-driven acquisition refers to a collection strategy that addresses users' direct information needs. In this study, an analysis of ten years' worth of book requests by user types was conducted to understand the topic preferences for efficient collection devleopment in the university library. In collection development, identifying subject areas of users' requested books is necessary for librarians to identify key areas of collection development and establish balanced collection development policies. To identify the major subject areas for each user group, KDC (Korean Decimal Classification) subject classifications were used, and network analysis techniques were applied to investigate the relationships between book topics in detail. The analysis revealed that "social sciences" emerged as the major topic across all user groups. However, in the analysis of sub-topics, "medicine" and "psychology" were distinctively identified as the major subject areas for graduate students, setting them apart from other user groups. The result of the network analysis further indicated that undergraduate students showed unique topics such as civil service, job placement, and career, which were not observed as major topic clusters in other user groups. On the other hand, graduate students tended to concentrate on a few specialized subjects, forming distinct topic clusters in the analysis.

This study drew four essential literacies for adult's daily life through analyzing the concepts of the 'skill' in PIAAC, and also investigated current literacy programs for adult users in Korean public libraries. Finally on those results, this study suggested a literacy program model with an illustrated action plan for adult users of pubic libraries. A suggested model is planed an intergrated program that make users can acquire four essential literacies through participating in a single program. This model is characterized by self-directed learning by the users and can be applied freely to various subjects and user groups. The model consists of six components and seven steps. Six components are target, theme, strategy, tool, material, assessment. Seven steps are targeting, selecting theme, strategy planning, documentation, action, assessing. This model is named $6{\times}7$ model on the basis of components and steps.

This study aims at discussing development of web archiving policies in South Korea. The study is based on the understanding of that the institutional environment and efforts for keeping Web information resources are insufficient, compared to the value and importance of them. For the study, Web archiving practices are analyzed into three aspects: scope, method, and quality. Futhermore, they are graphically schematized as a comparative analysis model. Based on the model, the study classifies national Web archiving practices into seven unique types and diagnoses their cons and pros. In this context, a combined Web archiving policy is discussed as an optimal Web archiving approach. As a case study, the France National Library's Web archiving is discussed in depth and the Korean National Library's Web archiving project, OASIS, is critically analyzed. As a result, the study proposes two alternative plans for the development of Web archiving policy in South Korea.

The purpose of this study is to build new management strategy of special libraries in the field of science and technologies. Though information service of digital libraries were developed very much due to IT technologies, management condition of special libraries is getting more worse. Immediate cause of this problem is absence of management strategies which were veiled by IT panacea. In order to overcome this problem, this study looks into the internal and external environment change which are surrounded by special libraries. And also examined procedures and method of environment analysis which is needed to build management strategies. As the result of research, this study analyze internal and external environment by SWOT analysis method, and finally propose new management strategies.

This study represents an attempt to forecast the increasingly complex and dynamic interplay between the transformation of media and collection management function in the networked environment. As the importance of electronic media rather than printed media is emphasized, there is a need to shift from the traditional collection management to content management for collection development strategy. In order to satisfy the needs of library users who have thirst for more various information, the traditional function of collection management has limitations. Therefore, we suggest that the future collection management must shift from the traditional collection management to content management.

The purpose of this study is to suggest strategies to improve and revitalize public small libraries established and operated by local governments among small libraries in Yangpyeong-gun. For this purpose, basic factors to be considered for the analysis of the current situation were derived by examining the policies and prior studies of small libraries. Based on these factors, the operation status of the public small libraries were analyzed, and interviews were conducted with the itinerant libertarians and staffs. As a result of the analysis, the main problems were the deterioration of a building, the lack of manpower and expertise, and the collection and program that did not reflect regional characteristics. In this study, we suggested a revitalization strategy such as improvement of the operating system, development of community-focused life-friendly libraries, reinforcement of manpower and expertise, development of book collections and reading culture programs with regional specialization, and establishment of community networks.

The purpose of this study is to suggest development plan of the Regional knowledge information services through the case study analysis between Korea and Japan public libraries. For this purpose, we analyzed literature related to the Regional knowledge information services, performed case study, and carried out a investigation which focuses on a public libraries webpage. According to the analysis, the development plan for the Regional knowledge information services was suggested as follow; that is user-friendly service, internal cooperation, external network cooperative strategy, visible public relations and recognition improvement. This study has aimed to prepare for the basic data which will help Korea public libraries to make better Regional knowledge information services in the future.

In recent time, herbal information and products have been used to treat different sicknesses and diseases such as arthritis, insomnia, ulcer, diabetes, cough, fever, constipation and cardiovascular problems. Several researches conducted have given birth to the use of different herbal products (such as rosemary Lavenders, sage, curry leaf' Tea bush, Bitter leaf, Thyme, garlic, ginger, Ginseng and Aloe Vera) for medicinal and culinary purposes. Due to the ever increasing importance of herbal research information, there is need for adequate and proper management of herbal research information. This article examines the need for information management in herbal research, characteristics of herbal research information as well as the nexus of trends of information management in herbal research. It discusses and identifies the roles of libraries in the management of herbal research information. The paper also identifies some emerging ICT tools used for information management in herbal research. It concludes that apart from helping to preserve valuable information on herbal medicinal research, proper management of herbal research information also help to lpreserve the indigenous knowledge of the people from being lost as a result of factors such as acculturation and biodiversity. The paper recommends that government and information agencies should draw up strategy for proper management of herbal research information as this will enhance access to quality herbal information.

Many local governments in Korea have competitively shown great interests in establishing and operating public libraries and carried out various projects. With this, an increasing number of local governments have recently established and implemented medium- and long-term development plans for their public libraries, based mostly on the findings from researches committed to the outside experts. Cheongju City has formulated the First Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Public Libraries in Cheongju City (2012-2016) in 2011 and the Second Plan (2017-2021) in 2016. The goal of this study is to help accomplish the planned goals of the Second Plan by conducting an interim check on the current state of execution and content of the Second Plan. To reach the research goals, first, we identified the outcome and limitations of the First Plan, as previously carried out. Second, we analyzed the trend in the change of the cultural environments of public libraries in Cheongju City. Third and lastly, we reviewed the promotion strategy and operation outcome of the Second Plan. In particular, this study focused on the expansion of an organizational structure, the reinforcement of professional workforce, and the increase in budgetary support as the core elements required for developing public libraries in Cheongju City.

A strategy for development of a functional rice in proved with human lactoferrin and enhancement of nutrient compounds was planned. For the purposes we have cloned and characterized a human lactoferrin cDNA from human mammary gland cDNA library A endosperm storage vacuole targeting sequence and the cDNA fragment was linked to endosperm specific glutelin promoter. The fusion gene fragment was inserted into a binary vector containing MAR gene. In addition a new ${\beta}$-galactosidase gene from Bifidobacterium of human was used as a reporter gene in the vector system, Rice plants showing a high concentration of amino acids in the endosperm cells were developed by using a biochemical mutation and bred for the transformation with the binary vector system Finally we have established a transformation method for the rice endosperm cells.
