이 연구는 작은도서관에서 이루어지고 있는 장서개발 과정을 조사하여 그 문제점을 분석하고 개선방안을 제안하고자 한 조사연구이다. 장서의 중요성과 주로 소규모장서로 운영되는 작은도서관의 특성에 비추어 볼때 특히 작은도서관에 있어서 장서개발의 중요성은 재론할 필요가 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현재의 작은도서관은 자료구입 예산의 부족, 전문사서의 부재, 운영자의 비전문성과 과다한 업무, 잦은 이직 등으로 인하여 효과적인 장서구성에 어려움이 있으며 소장 자료의 질도 높지 않다는 것이 일반적인 관찰이다. 이러한 문제인식에 바탕하여 이 연구에서는 현재 급속히 증가하고 있는 작은도서관의 장서가 실제로 어떻게 개발되고 관리되는지 장서개발 과정을 파악하고, 업무과정에서 발생하는 제반 상황을 분석하여 실천적 문제들을 제기하고자 하였다. 이를 기반으로 작은도서관 현장에서 체계적인 장서개발이 이루어지기 위한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다.

본 연구는 학교교육 및 교과연계와 도서관의 자원 활용을 아우르는 협력모델로 이벤트 체험과 컬렉션 체험의 융합 프로그램인 이벤트컬렉션 프로그램의 효과와 활용방안을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 양적 및 질적 데이터를 이용하여 다각적으로 분석한 결과, 이벤트컬렉션 프로그램의 효과로 학생들의 독서와 도서관의 역할 인식에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 이벤트컬렉션이 주제분류에 의한 자료배열로서는 제공할 수 없는 특정 관심분야와 관련된 다양한 자료를 제시함으로써 학생들에게 새로운 지식 발견 및 그 깊이와 범위의 확장을 통한 지식의 구조화를 지원하고, 전시이벤트 형식의 체험마케팅 요소를 통해 독서자료와 학생의 상호작용 및 공유와 참여를 촉진함으로써 자기주도적 독서에 효과적인 도구임을 제안하였다는 데에 의의가 있다.

The present study aims at identifying the nature of the organizational patterns for serial management and thus providing an assitance for decision-making in regards to how the serials in an individual library be processed. The premise of the paper is that effective management is ensued from adopting proper organizational arrangement. In the first part. attempts are made to bring to the fore the problems inherent in serial management and the efforts made for possible solutions. The main portion of the paper eximines the two outstanding patterns; namely, the decentralized arrangement patterned after the traditional functions of a library and the centralized one integrating such functions as acquisition, cataloging and information service. Both are examined in light of nature, development, applicability, strengths and weeknesses. Automation is viewed as a strong force for a change in organizing serial work as it has already brought about organizational change in some large libraries. The general conclusion is that a large collection(5,000 active titles or more) has much to benefit from a separate, specialized department. which integrates the related functions; and the smaller collection can be effectively treated like the rest of the library materials, assigning a specific unit responsible for serial work and promoting an informal communication activities which would bring about coordination and coorperation for the free flow of serial work.

본 논문은 북미 대학에서 한국학 장서 구축의 역사가 오래된 대학을 대상으로 그동안 구축된 한국학장서의 현황 규모에 대한 적정성을 현장을 중심으로 객관적으로 조사 분석한 것이다. 장서와 이용자 그룹에 근거하여 ACRL 표준공식을 적용하여 분석하였고, ARL 중앙값을 산출하여 비교하였다. ACRL 기준에 따른 평가결과, 이 대학의 한국학 장서는 B 등급으로 평가되었고, ARL 비교치 결과에서도 비교 대상교 15개 중에서 중간정도에 그치는 것으로 나타나서, 한국학 장서의 꾸준한 증가를 통해 한국학교육과정 지원을 보다 충실히 해야 한다는 결론을 도출하게 되었다.

This study is an attempt at developing an organizational model for collection development a n.0, pplicable to Korean university libraries at their present stage of development. An emphasis is placed on the discussion of the 'subject a n.0, pproach' as compared to 'functional a n.0, pproach' in collection development work. The case history of Pusan National University Library is extensively used. The proposed collection development model consists of the following elements : - To form a collection development team and to place under the team leader subject bibliographers as follows: Bibliographer for Serials Bibliographer for Humanities Bibliographer for Social Sciences Bibliographer for Sciences and Technologies - Collection development team could operate as a separate department or as part of other departments, i. e., Deputy Director's office, Acquisitions and Processing Department, or Resources Management Department. - Collection development team takes up the responsibility for policyrelated collection work, i. e., budget allocation, evaluation of existing collection, building core collection, preservation, weeding and cooperation. - Designated certified librarians located at the(planned) subject libraries take up the responsibility for selection. Subject bibliographers cooperate with selection librarians and coordinate their work. - Certified librarians at the Acquisitions and Processing Department are assigned subject areas. They operate as acquisitions librarian and processing librarian simultaneously with their assigned subject materials.

2016년 1월 1일부터 공공도서관 빅데이터 플랫폼이 서비스되기 시작하여 도서관 빅데이터가 공공도서관 업무 개선에 활용되고 있다. 본 논문은 도서관 빅데이터 플랫폼 활용사례들을 살펴보고 도서관 빅데이터 플랫폼의 활용효과를 높일 수 있는 개선방안을 도출하고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 도서관 빅데이터 플랫폼을 활용한 사례들에서 활용한 빅데이터와 활용유형분석 및 도출된 서비스/시행정책을 살펴본다. 다음으로, 현재 공공도서관에서 사용하는 통합도서관리시스템(ILUS)과 도서관 빅데이터 플랫폼 각각의 자료분석 방식을 비교함으로써 도서관 빅데이터 플랫폼의 한계점과 이점을 살펴본다. 사례분석 결과, 프로그램 기획 및 수행, 장서, 수서, 기타의 유형으로 빅데이터를 활용하였고 서비스/시행정책은 이용자 맞춤형 테마서가 및 독서진흥프로그램 진행, 장서활용도 증대, 특화주제에 기반한 수서 및 대출현황 데이터 공개로 요약되었다. 비교분석결과, ILUS는 자관의 자료실현황분석에 특화되어 있으며, 빅데이터 플랫폼은 다양한 속성(연령, 성별, 지역, 대출시기 등)에 따른 선택적 분석이 가능하여 분석시간단축과 유연한 분석이 가능하다. 마지막으로 사례분석과 비교분석에서 밝혀진 특징 및 한계점을 정리하고 개선방안을 제시한다.

계보자료를 많이 소장하고 있는 도서관에서는 일반자료와는 다르게 각별히 관리할 필요가 있다. 지금까지 한국의 도서관에서는 계보관련 자료의 효용가치가 많음에도 불구하고 그 수집방법이 족보에 한정되거나 체계적이지 못하고, 소장된 자료에 대해서도 그 조직이 합리적이지 못한 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구는 국내외의 계보자료의 관리사례를 조사하고, 계보자료를 많이 소장하고 있는 도서관을 중심으로 그 수집과 분류 및 편목 등의 자료조직 실태를 파악하며, 이를 바탕으로 원활한 장서관리와 정보검색이 될 수 있도록 계보자료의 수집과 자료조직상의 개선책을 강구하는 데 그 목적이 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a model of the strategic management of university library in Korea. The model from this study is summarized as follows: 1. 본 연구의 목적은 녹색도서관에 관한 문헌연구를 통하여 연구 방향 및 내용 분석과 향후 연구 방향을 제시하는 데 있다. 녹색도서관 연구는 초기에 녹색도서관 건축에 대한 부분과 필요성에 대한 연구가 많이 수행되었으며, 점차 녹색도서관 운영에 대한 연구로 확산되었다. 녹색도서관 건축에 관한 연구는 LEED 평가시스템의 5가지 범주를 기반으로 진행되었으며, 5가지 범주 중 '에너지와 공기'와 '실내 환경의 질' 범주가 가장 중요시 되었다. 녹색도서관 운영에 대한 연구는 도서관 자원의 재활용에 대한 부분과 장서의 효율적인 관리를 통한 에너지 활용에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 이를 기반으로 미래의 녹색도서관 연구방향으로, 해당 지역에 건립 가능한 도서관 수, 도서관 서가의 위치 및 간격, 도서관 공간구성, 서고에 소장할 자료의 비율, 이용자 연구를 제시하였다.

대다수 국가에서 공공도서관은 지역사회를 위한 지식정보 허브, 복합문화공간, 만남과 소통을 위한 제3의 장소로서의 역할을 수행하고 있다. 이를 위한 공공도서관 업무 중에서 요체는 체계적인 장서개발이고, 구축된 장서는 모든 지식정보서비스에 필수적이다. 특히 지역대표도서관은 광역자치단체를 위한 종합지식정보센터로서의 법정 업무를 수행해야 하며 다른 공공도서관이 수행하기 어려운 특화장서를 개발·제공·보존해야 한다. 이에 외국의 대규모 공공도서관과 국내 지역대표도서관의 특화장서 개발 사례를 조사하고 경북지역 공공도서관 직원을 대상으로 특화장서 등에 대한 인식도를 조사하였으며, 경북의 문화지형을 분석하였다. 이들을 배경정보로 삼아 '경북지식문화유산'으로 명명한 경북도서관의 특화장서 개발방안 및 구축전략을 제안하였다.
