A Study on Services and Programs of Bookmobiles in Korea (국내 이동도서관의 서비스와 프로그램 운영에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of services and programs of bookmobiles in Korea. To do this, a questionnaire containing 22 questions on basic information, scheduling and stops of bookmobiles, services and programs of bookmobiles, promotions and needs assessment and improvement requirements was developed on the basis of 7 foreign standards and guidelines related to bookmobile services. 74 questionnaires from bookmobiles belonging to public libraries and Saemaul bookmobiles were analysed. As a result, many parts of the results including operation days per week, stops per day, operation hours per stop, visiting cycle, circulation per day, circulation period and circulation volume and promotion conformed to foreign standards and guidelines but the others did not conformed to them. Also, there were more group differences in services and programs between bookmobiles belonging to public libraries and Saemaul bookmobiles than between bookmobiles in metropolitan cities and provinces in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the methods and contents of information literacy instruction before the developing of Information Literacy Program Model that can improve information literacy competencies of undergraduate students in design discipline. After the literature review on the comparative analysis of national standards & program for higher education and the NASAD standards & guidelines. This research analyzed the methods and contents of the information literacy instruction by the Delphi Survey. As a result of Delphi Survey, the research found out that design discipline preferred Hands-on design-specific instruction by professional librarian at the request of a department and required design-specific information literacy instruction based on the structure of knowledge and information-seeking practices within the design discipline, and providing design-specific tools, resources to helping students apply in learning and actual situation.

  • The integration, openness, participation, and technology are essential elements of digital information resources in order to establish an unified and cooperative network of various digital knowledge-information abroad. This study analyzes policies, technologies and administrative aspects of international cooperative networks such as WDL, IPL, TEL. Based on the analysis, a number of collection standards for international cooperation are drawn. Analyzed standards are divided into four different aspects and applied to produce detailed appraisal standards for digital knowledge-information. In conclusion, in order to map out strategies and policies for developing an international cooperative network, the study proposes a number of principles and models for making an appraisal of collections.

A Design Verification Method for Object-oriented Design Specification (객체 지향 설계 명세서에 대한 설계 검증 방법)

  • In this paper, we present a first step for developing a method of verifying both safety and correctness of object-oriented design specification. As first, we analyze the discrepancies, which can occur between requirements specification and design specification, to make clear target faults. Then, we propose a new design verification method which aims at detecting faults in the design specification. The key idea of the proposed framework is that all elements to be verified can be extracted based on the requirements specification, safety standards, and design specification given for the target product These elements are expressed using three kinds of tables for verification, and thus, the verification steps can be greatly simplified. Here, we assume that component library, standards for safety and design specification obtained from the Booch's object-oriented design method are given. At the beginning, the designers construct a design table based on a design specification, and the verifiers construct a correctness table and a safety table from component library and standards for safety Then, by comparing the items on three tables, the verifiers verification a given design specification and detect faults in it. Finally, using an example of object-oriented design specification, we show that faults concerning safety or correctness can be detected by the new design verification method.

A Study on the Expansion of Fundamental Categories Based on Thesaurus International Standards (시소러스 국제표준 기반 기본 범주의 확장에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to extend fundamental categories from Clause 11, "facet analysis" in International Standards for thesaurus(ISO 25964-1) by analyzing fundamental categories of Clause 11 and concept and their scope in a thesaurus of Clause 5. For to do this, the fundamental categories were established by adjusting partially and adding mental entities explicitly referencing the highest concepts(YAMATO which is the upper ontology of Mizoguchi, and ISO 2788) and existing fundamental categories(PMEST, FRBR group 3 entities, 13 categories in CRG). Also, established fundamental categories were reorganized and structured based on concreteness/abstraction of PMEST in Ranganathan and independence/dependence of YAMATO in Mizoguchi. And the upper categories were divided into independent and dependent entities. Under these entities 28 criteria are included in the independent ones and 2 criteria in the dependent ones. In the further study, the result of this study can be expected to reuse and refer as controlled vocabulary in the field like classification, taxonomies and thesauri where expected to utilize fundamental categories and as the high-level concept when constructing an ontology for information retrieval.

  • This study acknowledges that prevailing regulation concerning for the long-term preservation of electronic records focus mainly on document types, neglecting the preservation of electronic records from various administrative information systems. With the growing interest in data management in the era of big data, it is imperative to establish clear standards for the long-term preservation of datasets. The choice of preservation format for electronic records is based on the specific standards for each type of electronic record. These standards are formulated according to the significant properties relevant to the electronic record type. This study aims to identify the significant properties of electronic records of each record type, before creating specific preservation format selection criteria for these record types. To achieve this, we reviewed and analyzed R&D studies by the National Archives of Korea and the NARA in the United States. As a result of the research, 9 significant properties were identified for database-type entities, and 7 significant properties were identified for structured data-type entities.

  • Building Information Modeling(BIM) technology continues to develop and is now being applied to infrastructure facilities. As smart technology based on BIM is applied to the construction industry, the construction of the same data in a common environment is considered to be a very important step in various applications. This study was conducted on methods to establish an open BIM-based airport facility information common data environment. Therefore, this study develops the element technology to establish a common data environment for the integrated management of airport facility information, and aims to standardize data in the common data environment among various technologies and applications. In order to achieve the aim, in this study, the required technologies were derived by examining the common data environment and examining the civil engineering facility field and the case of integrated airport facility management. Through this, standards and development for information standard framework, information requirement level, BIM guidebook, and BIM library were developed in connection with national and higher standards. Through these standards, it is expected that the integrated management of various airport facilities will be efficiently carried out through a standard data platform in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to draw implications through domestic and international best case studies of library programs, and to suggest ways to improve a public library reading programs through analysis based on the 3rd Reading Culture Promotion Basic Plan in line with the changing role of future libraries. there is To this end, first, prior studies were analyzed from various angles to derive clustering standards for library programs. Based on this, programs of various domestic and foreign libraries were analyzed based on clustering criteria. And based on the clustering criteria of library programs and the 13 key tasks under the 4 strategies of the 3rd Reading Culture Promotion Basic Plan, the status of a specific public library reading programs was analyzed. Through this, in consideration of the demand of users in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, participatory reading promotion programs are expanded, and in response to the post-COVID-19 era, beyond face-to-face library services, non-face-to-face and non-contact library services are also considered. A development plan was presented. It is expected that this analysis and application attempt will ultimately go beyond the unit library and contribute to improving the public library service in Korea into a library program closely related to the lives of users.

  • The international standard for the school library suggests that school librarians qualified for librarian and teacher should run the school library. And library assistants should support the teacher librarian to carry out a role as a teacher. Despite the difference of requirements, librarians without teachers' license are under the human resources for school library administration. Furthermore, the job description between the school librarian and librarian is not well-defined in Korea. The different requirements in the library standards and the school library related laws have led to weaken professionalism and social status of librarianship. The condition that teacher librarians are not in the school library have brought the pressure to overcome imperfect functions of the school library and unfairness of educational services. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to strengthen teacher librarians' qualification system to improve their identity as educational subject specialist librarians. We ought to also build proper foundations of social recognition about librarianship through classifying the types of human resources in the school library into the teacher librarian, library paraprofessional and volunteers. Especially we should hold the job analysis based on administrator, teacher, service, leader, collaboration, and partner.
