Cloning and Characterization of the Putative Transferrin Receptor cDNA from the Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • A cDNA clone for the olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) transferrin receptor (fTfR) was isolated from a leukocytes cDNA library. The fTfR gene consisted of 2,319 bp encoding 773 amino acid residues. The amino acid sequence alignment of the fTfR showed that their size and hydrophobic profile are similar. In addition, the Tyr-Thr-Arg-Phe (YTRF) motif that is the recognition signal for high-efficiency endocytosis, is conserved very well. This motif is important for functional properties of TfR. The deduced amino acid sequence had $42.4-42.9\%$ identities with the previously reported TfRs of vertebrates. The fTfR was expressed in the blood, kidney, spleen, and liver of healthy olive flounder by the Northern blot hybridization.

  • A library of unlimited number of novel lectins with diverse specificities has been previously generated by randomly mutating the carbohydrate-recognition domain of Maackia amurensis hemagglutinin (MAH). To establish the experimental environment capable of selecting high affinity mutant lectins in E. coli, phage display system was adapted. Carbohydrate binding capacity of two phagemid vectors, pComb3 and pComb8 displaying wild-type MAH lectin was assessed. Specific bindings of pComb3 and pComb8 phages expressing w.t. MAH to affinity-purified polyclonal anti-MAH antibody and to glycophorin was demonstrated. Both phages also showed strong hemagglutinating activity to intact but not sialidase-treated human erythrocytes, which is consistent to the specificity of native MAH. Taken together, two different phage display vectors successfully allowed the expression of active MAH as a fusion protein on the surface of bacteriophage, which will lead to preparation of unique plant lectins with high affinity toward a variety of carbohydrate chains.

  • In this study. a technical report management system using optical technology is described in detail. This management system is designed for both bibliographic (character) and full-text (image) information. Several optical filing systems already on the Korean market are scrutinized and compared with standard functions in order to build a more efficient management system for technical reports which can be easily integrated into existing KRISS library automation system. For that purpose, up-to-date technologies (i.e., digital image PI-ocessing (DIP), MARC standards, and optical character recognition (OCR), etc.) are applied to this system.

  • The beta-turn has been implicated as an important conformation for biological recognition of peptides or proteins. We adapted the concept of general Ca atom positioning from the cluster analysis and recombination of each ideal beta-turn conformation pattern by Garland and Dean (1. Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 1999, 13, 469) as one strategy of designing non-peptide beta-turn scaffolds. (omitted)

  • Creative thinking appears even before it is expressed in language, and its existence is revealed through emotion, intuition, image and body feeling before logic or linguistics rules work. In this study, Lego is intended to present experimental child interactive content that is applied with a computer vision based on image processing techniques. In the case of infants, the main purpose of this content is the development of hand muscles and the ability to implement imagination. The purpose of the analysis algorithm of the OpenCV library and the image processing using the 'VVVV' that is implemented as a 'Node' in the midst of perceptual changes in image processing technology that are representative of object recognition, and the objective is to use a webcam to film, recognize, derive results that match the analysis and produce interactive content that is completed by the user participating. Research shows what Lego children have made, and children can create things themselves and develop creativity. Furthermore, we expect to be able to infer a diverse and individualistic person's thinking based on more data.

  • Deep Neural Networks (DNN) has become an essential data processing architecture for the implementation of multiple computer vision tasks. Recently, DNN-based algorithms achieve much higher recognition accuracy than traditional algorithms based on shallow learning. However, training and inference DNNs require huge computational capabilities than daily usage purposes of computers. Moreover, with increased size and depth of DNNs, CPUs may be unsatisfactory since they use serial processing by default. GPUs are the solution that come up with greater speed compared to CPUs because of their Parallel Processing/Computation nature. In this paper, we analyze the inference time complexity of DNNs using well-known computer vision library, OpenCV. We measure and analyze inference time complexity for three cases, CPU, GPU-Float32, and GPU-Float16.

  • 본 연구는 공공기관이 소장한 이미지데이터 활용성을 높이기 위한 전문검색서비스 구현 시 필수적인 문서인식시스템의 고도화에 있으며, 주요한 연구방향은 공공기관이 소장하고 있는 데이터의 분석을 통해 이미지분석 기술 및 라이브러리를 개발하고 특화된 지식베이스를 구성하는 것이다. 또한, 향후 확장성을 고려하여 지식베이스를 지속적으로 관리할 수 있는 툴을 개발하는 것이다. 본 연구는 현재 지능형 인식 라이브러리를 결합한 프로토타입(prototype) 시스템 개발이 완료된 바, 방대한 국가기록원내 소장자료를 대상으로 다양한 성능평가를 위한 테스트베드 구축이 진행되고 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 전자 출결을 위한 시스템들이 학생들의 스마트폰 사용을 기반으로 하고 있다는 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 사전등록을 통한 얼굴인식 인공지능을 활용한 전자 출결 관리 시스템인 <반달>을 소개한다. 본 논문에서는 얼굴인식 인공지능을 통한 식별 및 애플리케이션을 통한 출결 사항 확인과 수정기능을 포함하여 통합적인 출결 관리를 가능하게 하였다. 학생들 개개인 스마트폰의 소지를 필수로 요구하지 않아 제약이 적은 라즈베리파이와 데이터베이스를 사용한 설치형 출결 관리 시스템을 제안한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 YOLO v3 라이브러리를 이용하여 CCTV 저장 공간을 확보하는 모델을 제안한다. 사회안전망을 구축하기 위해 CCTV 설치가 확대되고, 그에 따라 많은 CCTV가 운영됨에 있어 저장 공간이 부족한 현상이 늘고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 학습된 데이터 셋을 활용하여 CCTV 영상파일의 프레임을 확인하여 움직임이 있는 객체가 있는지 판단하고, 움직임이 감지되는 프레임 영상을 저장한다. 제안 모델을 적용하여 테스트 한 결과 원본 데이터 크기보다 결과 데이터 크기가 85% 감소됨을 확인하였다. 인적이 드문 곳에 설치된 CCTV의 경우 제안 모델을 적용할 경우, 저장 공간의 관리 및 운영이 용이해질 것으로 기대할 수 있다.

  • National libraries have an obligation to meet the information needs of users by collecting as many various materials as possible. As legal deposit accounts for the highest percentage of the collection building methods of national libraries, they are trying to encourage the legal deposit of the publishers. However, the rate of legal deposit for the most publishers are pretty low. Therefore, in this study, the improvement plans of legal deposit system for the purpose of helping legal deposit of national libraries improve smoothly has been investigated by identifying the problems with the legal deposit system that publishers had and by suggesting the matters that should be improved based on the recognition of legal deposit by publishers. The plans for the revitalization of legal deposit for the publishers are as follows: promoting factors of legal deposit systems such as scope, deadline, compensation, fine and legal deposit libraries, simplification of legal deposit procedures, set-up of automated online system for legal deposit and strengthening of the method for promoting and educating the legal deposit.
