국립중앙도서관의 자료정리현황과 그 방향에 관한 연구 (The Technical Services of the National Central Library: A Search for Rational Direction)

  • Because of the changes made in the modes of cataloguing and classification in its long history, the present catalogue of the National Central Library has become complicated and provides an inadequate guide to its collection. There can be no doubt that this is a serious deficiency in a closed access library since materials housed in the library are virtually inaccessible to unskilled readers. The whole breakdown of the efficiency of the catalogue is emminent and will ultimately create the most serious problems for the library. The main purpose of this survey is: (a) to identify problem areas created by the frequent changes in the cataloguing and classifying principles in the library and (b) to grope a rational direction for the future development. Analysing the various classification schemes and cataloguing rules adopted in processing materials (mainly books) in the library, the following conclusions have been made. A. The library adopted five different clasification schemes in different periods, of which KDCP was used for the most part of its collection. KDCP is recommended to use for the future colletion. A classification development office is recommended to be established within the library, of which the main function is to revise the KDCP in collaboration with the appropriate committee of the Korean Library Association. B. The present practice in the library is to apply three different cataloguing rules and two different author notation tables to the Oriental, classical, and Western collections. Efforts should be made to find out an efficient system so that this variety is simplified. An alphabetical index should be added to the classified catalogue, and improvements are required in the Japanese collection. C. The technical services division is inadequately staffed. The staff should be sufficiently numerous and specially qualified. D. The present financial support for the technical services of the library is inadequate. Sufficient financial provision should be made to ensure the effective work. E. A feasibility study should be carried out to develop a computer processing system for providing machine-readable catalogue records on magnetic tape for use by the library community in Korea.

Potential Implications and Applications of Terror Management Theory for Library and Information Science

  • Mental health experts warn the combination of overwhelming amounts of information, economic instability, political discontent, social injustice, and the high infection and death rates of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are negatively impacting mental health in ways that may worsen the pandemic and intensify our primal fear of death. Terror Management Theory (TMT) argues that self-esteem and cultural worldviews serve as defenses against the terror of our own mortality. This theory anchor paper introduces TMT to Library and Information Science (LIS) via a selected literature review on TMT's use in the field of Psychology and an extensive discussion on the conceptual connections to LIS supported with empirical research from related disciplines and contexts. The implications, applications, and usefulness of TMT for LIS research, education, and practice are discussed in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and other contexts, and a research agenda is proposed.

오픈 에듀케이션에 대한 개념적 고찰과 도서관의 접근 방안 (Conceptual Study on Open Education and Library's Approach to Open Education)

  • 오픈 에듀케이션이란 디지털 기술을 기반으로 교육 장벽을 해소하기 위해 전세계적으로 진행되고 있는 운동이다. 점차 확산되고 있는 오픈 에듀케이션 환경에서 도서관의 교육적 기능을 어떻게 수행할 것인가에 대한 논의가 필요하다. 이 연구에서는 오픈 에듀케이션의 개념과 구성요소를 고찰하고, 오픈 에듀케이션 환경에서 도서관이 어떻게 교육적 기능을 수행할 것인지 그 접근 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이 연구의 결과는 도서관의 교육적 기능의 관점에서 도서관이 오픈 에듀케이션의 실행과 확산의 주체가 되고, 이를 위한 역할과 방향을 설정하는 데 있어 지침이 될 것이다.

Psychological Aspects of Job Satisfaction Among Library and Information Science Professionals

  • This study assesses the psychological aspects which influence job satisfaction among library and information science professionals. The study is based on primary data collected from the library and information science professionals working in the higher education institutions of Jammu and Kashmir, India. In all 264 responses were collected, comprising 44.3% male respondents and 55.7% females. The majority, 74.2% of respondents, are under 45 years of age, while 67.4% of respondents have a master's degree in library and information science. Of the total respondents, 7.6% conceded to being incompetent, while 13.3% viewed their peers as incompetent. The majority, 25% of respondents, replied that the library profession is a thankless job and 70.8% of respondents viewed that they are emotionally attached to their profession, while at the gender level, compared to 75.5% females, 65% of male respondents admitted to being emotionally attached to their profession. The encouraging part is that 26.5% of respondents replied that they love doing their job beyond office hours and 75.8% of respondents replied that they would not seek voluntary retirement, while 41.7% of respondents showed willingness to continue working as library and information science professionals postretirement, if engaged.

대학도서관 이용교육에 관한 소고 (Study on the university library instruction)

  • It is an established fact that the university library is an important element in the higher education system. To keep abreast with the changing social environment industrial development and explosive increase of knowledge, the university library must also find new a n.0, pproaches to better serve the users in the university community. Also, on the part of university faculty, instructional methods must be improved from text book oriented education toward assignment oriented education. To facilitate effective teaching, the role of university library and its efficient use has become more important and indispensable. The objective of this study was to review the literature, and to find out current practice among students and professional librarians on the library instruction in order to find ways to strengthen and improve it. A specially designed questionnaire was used to survey current status. Results of the survey are summarized as follows; (1) Most university students received some guidance on library utilization as part of their freshman orientation program. However, it is found that the elementary nature of the guidance program was insufficient for their subsequent actual attempt to use. Students are not familiar with library organization, search procedure, and they lack basic knowledge on library service available to them. (2) Problem areas related to library instruction are insufficient amount of time allocated for the guidance program, big size of orientation program, and lack of interest on the part of students, etc. It is therefore recommended that the above mentioned problem areas be overcome through cooperative and concerted efforts among faculty members, professional librarians, and the university administration by increasing library instruction hours, improving the contents of program in its scope and depth to be practically useful. To sum up, the lecture oriented education should be shifted toward library oriented education by improved instruction program on library use.

도서관 견학이 예비사서의 사서 핵심능력 중요도 인식에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of the Library Tour for Pre-librarians on the Importance Perception of the Librarian Core Competency in South Korea)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 예비사서들이 도서관 견학프로그램을 통해 다양한 도서관의 사서직무들을 직접 보고 들어봄으로써 사서 핵심능력 중요도 인식에 어떠한 변화가 있는지를 밝혀 사서양성기관, 도서관의 견학담당 사서, 그리고 예비사서들에게 도서관 견학이 갖는 교육적 의의를 제시하기 위함이다. 도서관 견학프로그램에 참여한 예비사서 29명을 대상으로 도서관 견학프로그램을 적용하기 사전 사후 사서 핵심능력 중요도 인식에 관한 설문조사 분석 결과, 도서관 견학이 예비사서들의 사서 핵심능력에 대한 중요도 인식에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 예비사서의 도서관 견학프로그램이 향후 사서 직무수행을 위한 사서 핵심능력 중요도 인식에 영향을 주어 예비사서의 자기주도적 학습에 동기유발이 될 수 있으며 사서양성기관에서는 현장기반의 사서 양성 교육과정 개발과 실행에 필요한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

  • 국립중앙도서관은 국가대표도서관으로 국가문헌의 구축을 통한 지식문화유산의 보고이며 국가지식정보의 유통관리 및 제공을 위한 서비스 센터로서의 역할을 수행하여 왔다. 최근 도서관을 둘러싼 환경의 변화에 대응하기 위한 도서관의 변화를 촉구하는 목소리가 커지고 있다. 국립중앙도서관 역시 국가도서관으로서 도서관서비스의 미래 대응방안을 고민하고, 서비스 추진과제를 고민해야 할 시점이다. 본 연구는 국립중앙도서관의 서비스 방향수립 및 개선방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 국립중앙도서관 서비스 현황 및 이해관계자 요구분석, 국내외 도서관 정책분석, 국외 국가도서관 서비스 사례 분석을 실시하였다. 국가대표도서관으로서의 국립중앙도서관 서비스 발전방향에 대한 고민은 현재 다른 도서관의 서비스 발전방향에 대한 고민의 초석이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 도서관 프로젝트학습에서 학습자의 학습동기와 메타인지가 어떤 관계에 있는지 살펴보았다. 연구환경으로 도서관 프로젝트학습을 설계하고 실행 및 평가하는 전체적인 교수-학습의 과정을 실행하였다. 연구 결과 도서관 프로젝트학습에서 학습자의 학습동기와 메타인지의 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 도서관 프로젝트학습은 학습자의 메타인지와 밀접한 연관이 있다고 할 수 있다.

A Reusable SQL Injection Detection Method for Java Web Applications

  • The fundamental reason why most SQL injection detection methods are difficult to use in practice is the low reusability of the implementation code. This paper presents a reusable SQL injection detection method for Java Web applications based on AOP (Aspect-Oriented Programming) and dynamic taint analysis, which encapsulates the dynamic taint analysis processes into different aspects and establishes aspect library to realize the large-grained reuse of the code for detecting SQL injection attacks. A metamodel of aspect library is proposed, and a management tool for the aspect library is implemented. Experiments show that this method can effectively detect 7 known types of SQL injection attack such as tautologies, logically incorrect queries, union query, piggy-backed queries, stored procedures, inference query, alternate encodings and so on, and support the large-grained reuse of the code for detecting SQL injection attacks.

전환기 '한국'문헌정보학의 새로운 패러다임 모색 (Toward a new paradigm of the korea's library and information science)

  • This study attempts to show the reasons why the academic field, which has been called 'Library and Information Science', should change its paradigm for both research and practice. To this end, this study investigates the essence of the current academic crisis, which is seriously threatening the survival of the LIS as an independent academic field in South Korea. In details, this study discusses the identity problem of the LIS, the poverty in scholarship, the low self-esteem of the profession, etc. Also investigated are the reasons why the profession, which includes both scholars and practitioners, is facing with such a crisis. This study emphasizes that both researchers and practitioners in the LIS field should keep their eyes on the ongojng information revolution, and that in order to thrive as well as to survive from the midst of such an academic crisis they should notice and understand the essence of the revolution. The conclusion of this study includes the philosophies and strategies for survival, which the profession should keep in mind and follow in a hurry.
