  • This study investigates the national library functions through a study on the theories of their generally accepted functions and based on the results, suggests an idea for the improvements of the functions of the National Library of Korea, the national library of Korea. This study categorizes 22 major functions identified through the analysis on the theories into 4 categories as follows: 1. Functions related to collect and conserve the central collections 2. Functions related to bibliographic control 3. Functions related to the representative role of the nation's libraries, nationally and internationally 4. Functions related to centralized technical and reader services And based on the analysis of the operations of the National Library of Korea. And it is desirable to validate and decide the priority among the functions based on the systematic and through analysis on the operations of the Library and other related libraries.

  • As information technology has been evolving, digital library emerges as a vision of future library. Many authors on digital library describe that the problems that today's libraries face would be completely solved by using digital technology. But it is su n.0, pposed that such technology oriented papers do not take care of what the library has been and should remain. This paper is prepared to identify what core elements of library services being provided in traditional environment must be transferred to the digital library. For this purpose, firstly historical transition from traditional library to digital discussed. Secondly, library's fundamental service functions are analysed from three points of view-library as cultural and social institution, library as intellectual reality, library as a collection. And 'control zone' concept is also investigated as a new possibility of academic digital libraries. In contrast to open zone in which information is not controled at all as in internet, in control zone, information is selected and maintained by academic library community, retaining such essential library functions as selection.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of library for real-time operating system Q+, that was developed for the internet appliance. The library in the real-time operating system should be defined according to the standard interface and support the functions that are adequate to the real-time application. To ensure the compatibility between application programs, the Q+ library follows industrial and international standards, such as POSIX.1, ISO 7942 GKS. And, to support the Q+ application, library provides C standard functions, graphic/window functions, network functions, security support functions, file system functions. The Q+ library was implemented using the Q+ kernel, Digital TV set-top box, and KBUG debugging tool.

  • The evaluation of the logic capability and the library generation method of the multiplexor-based logic module is described. Optimizing logic module for silicon area and logic capability is essential to build a efficient FPGAs(Field-Programmable Gate Arrays). Because the multiplexor-based logic module can implement a large number of functions, it presents difficulties for library-based approaches. However, the logic functions of the logic module can be significantly reduced by lmiting the number of variables and sum-of-products and by removing same functions with different variable ordering using algorithm presented in this paper.

  • Recently many documents have been written by HTML due to the expansion of the Internet and WWW. HTML allows scripting languages to interact between an user and an browser. Sometimes there might have problems with some functions of the script language. Some functions have the same name although the different contents and vice versa. It presents tremendous difficulties to maintain the functions. And, a file includes many functions shared among documents. If a user tries to see a HTML document, the file will be sent to the web browser in the user system. The network resource is wasted due to moving all data in the file through the network although some functions in the file is not used. So, we should design and implement the code library of a script language with a database. Each function has the name and arguments. A system of the code library manages functions with them. The system has the functions consistency and reduces the network resource consumption because there are only necessary functions in documents. Beside it is easy for the system to modify and reuse the functions.

  • This is a critical study on the information-offer-function of Korean public library among its several functions. This is not only reviewed about idealogical logical background of formulation of public library in Korea, but also reviewed about changing process o the goal of public library till the development of actual concept of modern public library. This study suggested a proper definition about actual goal of public library in Korea at present. Technocrats say the public library in the future should be both bookless and paperless library. That may mean over-interpretation on information-offer-function of public library among its several functions. When we meet information super highway era, we must not confront information dependence to advanced information countries. Thus, I suggest a way to solve the establishment of information sovereignty through public library in order to avoid the information dependence to advanced information countries.

  • Using the library users' data in Lake County Public Library Systems, Florida, US, this study discussed how geographic information systems can be applied in LIS fields. These data were analyzed with such GIS functions as geocoding, Thiessen polygon, density, buffer, and distance measurement. Results indicate that findings from a study of these functions allowed for, not only a better understanding of the geographic locations of library users and user's library activity patterns, but also for the ability to identify library market areas for future library service planning. Additionally, results from a study of the Thiesen polygon and buffer functions indicated the distance impact on library use. Regarding the travel distance of library users, the measurement of distance using road networks was suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the functions and features of SearchWorks developed as the Next Generation Library Catalog by Stanford University Libraries. It was designed to fully represent the needs and search behaviors of users, with Blacklight, an open source software. Its main features are not different from those standard functions supplied by other commercial packages of Next Generation Library Catalogs, and its continuing improvement and changes, including the addition and expansion of more useful functions and the removal of unnecessary ones, have been observed since the introduction of a beta version in 2010.

  • This paper describes qualities of a library classification system that are commonly discussed in the LIS tradition and literature, and explains such a system’s three main functions, namely knowledge mapping, information retrieval, and shelf arrangement. In this vein, the paper states the functional requirements of bibliographic classifications, which broadly are subject collocation and facilitation of browsing the collection. It explains with details the components of a library classification system and their functions. The major components are schedules, notations, and index. It also states their distinguished features, such as generalia class, form divisions, book numbers, and devices for number synthesis which are not required in a knowledge classification. It illustrates with examples from the WebDewey good examples of added features of an online library classification system. It emphasizes that institutional backup and a revision machinery are essential for a classification to survive and remain relevant in the print and e-environment.

  • Fuzzing is used to find vulnerabilities for a library. Because library fuzzing only tests the implemented functions, in order to achieve higher code coverage, additional functions that are not implemented should be implemented. However, if a function is added without regard to the calling relationship of the functions in the library, a problem may arise that the function that has already been tested is added. We propose a novel method to improve the code coverage of library fuzzing. First, we analyze the function call graph of the library to efficiently add the functions for library fuzzing, and additionally implement a library function that has not been implemented. Then, we apply a hybrid fuzzing to explore for branches with complex constraints. As a result of our experiment, we observe that the proposed method is effective in terms of increasing code coverage on OpenSSL, mbedTLS, and Crypto++.
