융합인재교육(STEAM)을 적용한 초등과학수업이 과학 학습 동기와 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Science Lesson Applying STEAM Education on Science Learning Motivation and Science Academic Achievement of Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science lesson applying STEAM education on the science learning motivation and science academic achievement of elementary school students. The study subjects were four classes of the 5th grade of M elementary school in B Metropolitan City. Two classes including 64 students were experimental group and the others including 65 students were comparison group. For the purpose of study, the lesson unit 'The human body' were practised, the recomposed unit applying STEAM was applied to experimental group, whereas comparison group was taught traditional science lesson. The results of this study were as follows. First, the science lesson applying STEAM education influenced significantly the improvement of the science learning motivation of elementary school students. Second, the science lesson applying STEAM education influenced significantly the improvement of the science academic achievement of elementary school students.

An Exploratory Case Study on Types of Teaching and Learning with Digital Textbook in Primary Schools

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of lesson and its effectiveness with digital textbook. To address those goals, we had observed five classes of the primary school, which designated as a research pilot school for digital textbook. Based on the result of observation, 3 types of lesson with digital textbook were categorized: Teacher-directed lecture (type 1), Blended learning (type 2), and Flipped learning (type 3). Depending on the type of lesson was analyzed the positive and negative effectiveness by means of matrix analysis method. As a result, in Teacher-directed lecture (type 1), there was found out the participation of the lesson in atmosphere of stable and comfortable as positive experience, also digital textbook operating immature and boring as negative experience. In Blended learning (type 2), there was found out the fun by sharing the product and peer feedback, and flow by learning transfer as positive experience, also digital textbook operating immature and understanding the difference between assignments as negative experience. In Flipped learning (type 3), there was shown the positive attitude and ownership in the lesson as positive experience, also distracting and boring in the lesson when learner was excluded in participation as negative experience. Based on the results, we suggested some strategies for improving positive experience and protecting negative experience in the lesson with using digital textbook.

CoRe에 기반한 과학 수업이 초등학생들의 과학 개념 형성과 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of CoRe-based Science Lesson on the Scientific Conceptual Formation and Academic Achievement of Elementary School Students)

  • This study aimed to investigate the changes in learner's scientific conceptual formation and academic achievement after a CoRe-based science lesson. For this study, two classes of the 6th grade of elementary school were divided into an experimental class and a comparison one. The students of the experimental class received CoRe-based science lesson and those of the comparison one received general science lesson. Both of the classes studied 'unit 1. A change in the weather', which is a part of content of 6th grade science text book. The results of this study were as follows. First, in the questions of invisible and abstract phenomena, students had misconceptions based on their experience in real life, or did not understand the fundamental causes of that phenomena. But after receiving lessons respectively, experimental class generally showed at a higher rate of understanding the causes of the phenomena than comparison class. Second, CoRe-based science lesson was more effective to improve students' scientific conceptual formation than the general science lesson. Moreover, when two classes were respectively divided into two groups as high and low-level groups according to their pre-test achievement records, the CoRe-based science lesson was more effective to learners of the high-level groups. Third, CoRe-based science lesson was more effective to enhance students' academic achievements than the general science lesson, especially to learners of the low-level groups.

초등학교 초임 교사와 경력 교사의 다학문적 통합과학 수업 사례 분석 (A Case Study of Multidisciplinary Integrated Science Lesson by Beginning Teacher and Experienced Teacher in Elementary Schools)

  • This paper is an in-depth case study to analyze integrated elementary science lesson planning and practical teaching by two teachers at an urban elementary schools. One is an experienced teacher and the other is a beginning teacher. For this study, researchers asked teachers to design 5 stages of lesson planning after sharing basic theories about the integrated science education. The first of the 5 lesson planning stages is curriculum analysis and choice of integrated science topic. The second stage is constructing the frame of integrated science lesson contents, and the third is drawing a diagram of the integrated science lesson development. The fourth stage is making a table of lesson plans, and the last stage is writing integrated science lesson plans. Then, the teachers implemented the lessons they created. They taught students one unit of science which is composed of 8 lessons. Difficulties that teachers meet during designing plans and integrated science class were analyzed. 5 staged lesson planning, video transcriptions, teacher interview about lesson planning and teaching, researchers' checklists, reports of inspection classes, teachers' self evaluation, and students interviews were used for this study. One of the significant results of this study is that both experienced and beginning teachers had many difficulties in deciding on time to teach and contents of science and other subjects, as well as selection and organization of whole topics of integrated science teaching. The beginning teacher especially had greater issues with developing definite teaching-learning strategy to conduct thoughts and views for integrated science at the whole unit and each lesson. However, the experienced teacher was using various teaching-learning strategies by utilizing integrated science teaching professionalism to develop students' integrated thinking ability during the instruction of other subjects. The outcomes of this study are that both teachers could deeply understand the need and value of integrated science education at the elementary school through planning and teaching 8 lessons, and that they could have self-confidence with development of teaching professionalism for integrated science teaching. It may be possible that this study could help the development of pre- and in-service program for improvement of integrated science teaching professionalism for elementary school teacher.

교사가 수업 설계에서 중요하게 고려하는 요소: 초등 수학 수업지도안에 대한 분석을 중심으로 (What Teachers Consider Important in Lesson Design: Focusing on the Analysis of a Lesson Plan of Elementary Mathematics)

  • 수학 수업을 잘 설계하는 능력은 좋은 수학 수업을 구현할 수 있는 토대라는 점에서 중요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 현직교사들이 초등학교 수학 수업의 설계에서 중요하게 고려하는 요소를 분석하는 데 초점을 두었다. 이를 위해 현직교사 27명을 대상으로 수학 수업을 설계할 때 중요하게 고려하는 요소가 무엇인지 자유기술식으로 응답하게 했고, 현직교사들에게 예비교사가 작성한 수학 수업지도안을 제공한 후 그 수업지도안의 장점과 개선사항을 분석하게 하였다. 교사들의 응답을 분석한 결과, 현직교사들은 자신이 평소 중요하게 생각하는 요소를 중심으로 예비교사가 작성한 수학 수업지도안을 분석하는 경향을 보였다. 그리고 수업지도안의 장점을 분석하거나 개선사항에 대한 피드백 의견을 제안할 때 수학 수업의 설계에서 중요하게 고려하는 요소들이 더욱 구체적으로 드러났으며, 특히 수업 전략 및 자료의 측면을 자세하게 고려하는 경향을 보였다. 현직교사의 수학 수업 설계에 대한 주요 결과를 토대로 교사교육에의 시사점을 논의하였다.

창의·인성교육 기반 지구과학 수업모형 제안 (A Suggesting of the Earth Science Lesson Model Based on the Creativity·Character Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest the earth science lesson model based on the creativity character education. To conduct this study, the curriculum revision in 2009 was analyzed by the causal mapping method. One after another, the creativity character education and earth system education were analyzed by the same method. Through as mentioned above, the key words which have relating concepts each other were picked out. Lastly, the key words were connected and compounded for the earth science lesson model based on the creativity character education. The model indicates that the earth science lesson based on the creativity character education requires the reconstructs of the processing and contents of the lesson. In other words, the teaching/learning must be progressed as corresponding between scientific facts and mental recognition, scientific concepts and compounding thinking skill, scientific laws and reconstructing thinking skill. In contents were reconstructed as relating to knowledge, creativity, characters and guidance counseling. The results of this study suggested the earth science lesson model based on the creativity character education needs developing and applying teaching/learning materials and managing discussing and cooperative learning.

Teachers' Values about Teaching Mathematics in Classrooms, Implementing Lesson Study and Open Approach: a Thai Experience

  • The aim of this study was to explore teachers' values about teaching mathematics in the classrooms which implemented Lesson Study and Open Approach as a teaching approach. The targeted group was 83 school teachers from 4 schools participating in a teacher professional development project. The data was gathered through teacher questionnaires, lesson observations and interviews. Data analysis is based on Bishop's (1988; 2003; 2007) and Komin's (1990) frameworks. The results from the implementation of Lesson Study and Open Approach in Thai classroom found the different of the roles and behaviors of teachers and students in classroom. The results revealed 3 kinds of values about teaching: Mathematical values, General educational values, Mathematics educational values and also found that most of the teachers valued problem solving as an innovative teaching approach as against traditional approaches they were familiar with.

고등학생 자녀를 둔 가정의 과외학습비 지출에 따른 재정문제 (The Household Financial Problem by Extracurricular Lesson Expenses of High School Student)

  • The major purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the extracurricular lesson expenses on the Burden of Household Expenditure. The data are collected from 537 housewives with a child aged 18(2nd grade in high school) in Seoul. The statistics used for the data analysis are frequency, percentage, crosstables, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression. The statistic softwear used for this study is SPSS. The Result on a base of empirical analyses follow: 1. Respondentg’s expenditure on extracurricular lesson fees is about 430,000 won per month, which is about 28% of the living cost. 2. There are four types of the methods preparing extracurricular lesson fees: ‘Frugal Type’, ‘Excess Type’, ‘Composit Type’, ‘Self-supportable Type’. 3. Region, the living cost, sex of children, net worth, and the mother’s education show statistically significant effect on the extracutticular lesson expenses. 4. The regression analyses incicate that Burden of Household Expenditure increased by 1.9 point according to 1% increase in expenditure on extracurridular lesson fees. The higher budget share of expenditure on extracurricular fees, the higher level of Burden of Household Expenditure.

ICT 활용교육을 위한 온라인 지도안 시스템의 설계 및 구현 ((Design and Implementation of Automated Lesson Planner System for ICT Education))

  • 본 연구에서는 ICT(Information & Communication Technology)활용 교수ㆍ학습 지도안을 Web상에서 작성 및 활용이 가능하도록 Web기반 전자지도안 시스템을 개발하여 첫째, 본 시스템만의 ICT 활용 교수ㆍ학습 과정안 형태를 구안하였으며 둘째, 한국형 교육과정과 ICT활용 교수ㆍ학습 과정안의 형태에 맞는 전자 지도안 시스템의 데이터베이스를 설계 및 구축하였으며, 셋째, 손쉽게 전자 지도안을 작성하고 지도안과 ICT 자료들이 효과적으로 연동하도록 시스템을 구현하였다. 마지막으로 구축한 전자 지도안 시스템을 실제 초등학교 현장에 적용하여 지도안 시스템의 효과와 개선점을 분석하였다. 본 전자 지도안 시스템은 수업 현장에서 가장 필요로 하는 ICT자료를 DB화하여 체계적인 지도안을 관리할 수 있다. 또한 지도안과 자료실을 유기적으로 연동시켜 정적인 DB가 동적인 컨텐츠 저장소로 활용할 수 있다. 이 시스템 구축으로 교수학습 지도안의 공유, 활용, 저장성의 극대화를 이룩하였으며 교육 현장에 일반화되어 학교 정보화에 이바지할 것이다.

초등학생의 과학적 의사소통 능력 함양을 위해 예비 초등교사들이 작성한 수업과정안의 특징 (The Characteristics of Lesson Planning of Pre-service Elementary Teachers to Develop Scientific Communication Skills for Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of lesson planning of pre-service elementary teachers to develop scientific communication skills for elementary school students. For this purpose, lesson plans and lesson planning journals written by the 53 pre-service teachers were collected and analyzed. The results of the research were as follows. The pre-service elementary teachers used an implicit and contextual approach to develop scientific communication skills. Teaching and learning activities for enhancing scientific communication were mainly conducted in words or in writing. There were many activities expressing elementary school students' thoughts and presenting the results of experiments in the lesson plan. There were many cases in which the pre-service teachers' lesson plans did not include the evaluation of scientific communication skills. In their lesson plans, there are a lot of mutual activities between teachers and students, team and whole students, and inter-students within teams together, and students' individual activities from requests of teachers. We found that the pre-service teachers had various difficulties when they planned the science lesson to develop scientific communication skills. The pre-service teachers were less likely to refer to specialized materials related to science education when planning their classes.
