  • Requirements of dietary chloride (dCl) and chloride salts were determined by using $4{\times}2$ factorial arrangement under four phase feeding program. Four levels (0.31, 0.45, 0.59 and 0.73%) and two sources ($NH_4Cl$ and $CaCl_2$) of the dCl were allocated to 1,472 chicks in eight dietary treatments in which each treatment was replicated four times with 46 birds per replicate. The four phase feeding program was comprised of four dietary phases: Prestarter (d 1 to 10), Starter (d 11 to 20), Grower (d 21 to 33) and Finisher (d 34 to 42); and diets were separately prepared for each phase. The cations, anions, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS) and salinity were analyzed in drinking water and were not affected by dietary treatments. BW gain (BWG; $p{\leq}0.009$) and feed:gain (FG; $p{\leq}0.03$) were improved in $CaCl_2$ supplemented diets during d 1 to 10. The maximum response of BWG and FG was observed at 0.38% and 0.42% dCl, respectively, for d 34 to 42. However, the level of dCl for BWG during d 21 to 33 ($p{\leq}0.04$) and d 34 to 42 ($p{\leq}0.009$) was optimized at 0.60% and 0.42%, respectively. The level of dCl for optimized feed intake (FI; $p{\leq}0.006$), FG ($p{\leq}0.007$) and litter moisture (LM; $p{\leq}0.001$) was observed at 0.60%, 0.38% and 0.73%, respectively, for d 1 to 42. Water intake (DWI) was not affected by increasing dCl supplementation (p>0.05); however, the ratio between DWI and FI (DWI:FI) was found highest at 0.73% dCl during d 1 to 10 ($p{\leq}0.05$) and d 21 to 33 ($p{\leq}0.009$). Except for d 34 to 42 ($p{\leq}0.006$), the increasing level of dCl did not result in a significant difference in mortality during any phase. Blood pH and glucose, and breast and thigh weights (percentage of dressed weight) were improved while dressing percentage (DP) and gastrointestinal health were exacerbated with $NH_4Cl$ as compared to $CaCl_2$ supplemented diets ($p{\leq}0.001$). Higher plasma $Na^+$ and $HCO_3{^-}$ and lower $Cl^-$ and $Ca^{{+}{+}}$ were observed in $NH_4Cl$ supplemented diets ($p{\leq}0.001$). Increasing supplementation of dCl increased plasma $Cl^-$ ($p{\leq}0.04$; quadratically) and linearly reduced plasma $K^+$ ($p{\leq}0.001$), $Ca^{{+}{+}}$ ($p{\leq}0.003$), $HCO_3{^-}$ ($p{\leq}0.001$), and $Na^+$ ($p{\leq}0.001$; quadratically). Consequently, higher requirements of dietary chloride are suggested for feed intake; nevertheless, lower levels of dietary chloride are sufficient to support optimal BWG and FG with increasing age. The $NH_4Cl$ supplemented diets ameliorate breast and thigh meat yield along with overall energy balance (glucose).

  • The phase-shift method and correlation constants, i.e., the unique electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques for studying the linear relationship between the behavior ($-{\varphi}$ vs. E) of the phase shift ($90^{\circ}{\geq}-{\varphi}{\geq}0^{\circ}$) for the optimum intermediate frequency and that ($\theta$ vs. E) of the fractional surface coverage ($0{\leq}{\theta}{\leq}1$), have been proposed and verified to determine the Langmuir, Frumkin, and Temkin adsorption isotherms of H and related electrode kinetic and thermodynamic parameters at noble metal (alloy)/aqueous solution interfaces. At a Zr/0.2 M ${H_2}{SO_4}$ aqueous solution interface, the Frumkin and Temkin adsorption isotherms ($\theta$ vs. E), equilibrium constants (K = $1.401{\times}10^{-17}\exp(-3.5{\theta})mol^{-1}$ for the Frumkin and K = $1.401{\times}10^{-16}\exp(8.1{\theta})mol^{-1}$ for the Temkin adsorption isotherm), interaction parameters (g = 3.5 for the Frumkin and g = 8.1 for the Temkin adsorption isotherm), rates of change of the standard free energy (r = $8.7\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for g = 3.5 and r = $20\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for g = 8.1) of H with $\theta$, and standard free energies ($96.13{\leq}{\Delta}G^0_{\theta}{\leq}104.8\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for K = $1.401{\times}10^{-17}\exp(-3.5{\theta})mol^{-1}$ and $0{\leq}{\theta}{\leq}1$ and ($94.44<{\Delta}G^0_{\theta}<106.5\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for K = $1.401{\times}10^{-16}\exp(-8.1{\theta})mol^{-1}$ and $0.2<{\theta}<0.8$) of H are determined using the phase-shift method and correlation constants. At 0.2 < $\theta$ < 0.8, the Temkin adsorption isotherm correlating with the Frumkin adsorption isotherm, and vice versa, is readily determined using the correlation constants. The phase-shift method and correlation constants are probably the most accurate, useful, and effective ways to determine the adsorption isotherms of H and related electrode kinetic and thermodynamic parameters at highly corrosion-resistant metal/aqueous solution interfaces.

  • For a nef and big divisor D on a smooth projective surface S, the inequality $h^{0}$(S;$O_{s}(D)$) ${\leq}\;D^2\;+\;2$ is well known. For a nef and big canonical divisor KS, there is a better inequality $h^{0}$(S;$O_{s}(K_s)$) ${\leq}\;\frac{1}{2}{K_{s}}^{2}\;+\;2$ which is called the Noether inequality. We investigate an inequality $h^{0}$(S;$O_{s}(D)$) ${\leq}\;\frac{1}{2}D^{2}\;+\;2$ like Clifford theorem in the case of a curve. We show that this inequality holds except some cases. We show the existence of a counter example for this inequality. We prove also the base-locus freeness of the linear system in the exceptional cases.

  • Let F be a life distribution with finite mean $\mu$ Then F is said to be in new better then worse than used in expectation (NBWUE(p)) class if $\varphi(u) {\geq} u$ for $0 {\leq}u{\leq}t_0$ and ${\varphi}(u) {\leq} u$ for $t_0< u {\leq} 1$ where ${\varphi}(u)$ is the scaled total-time-on-test transform and $p=F(t_0)$. We propose a testing procedure for $H_0$ : F is exponential against $H_1$ : NBWUE(p), and is not expontial, (or $H_1\;'$ : F is NWBUE (p), and is not exponential) using randomly censored data. Our procedure assumes kmowledge of the proportion p of the population that fail at or before the change-point $\t_0$. Know ledge of $\t_0$ itself is not assumed. The asymptotic normality of the test statistic is established and a Monte Carlo experiment is performed to investigate the speed of convergence of the test statistic to normality. The power of our test is also studied.

  • In 1982, N. Miller [5] showed a weighted $L^p$ boundedness theorem for pseudo differential operators with symbols $S^0_{1.0}$. In this paper, we shall prove the pointwise estimates, in terms of the Fefferman, Stein sharp function and Hardy Littlewood maximal function, for pseudo differential operators with reduced symbols and show a weighted $L^p$-boundedness for pseudo differential operators with symbol in $S^m_{\rho,\delta}$, 0{$\leq}{\delta}{\leq}{\rho}{\leq}1$, ${\delta}{\neq}1$, ${\rho}{\neq}0$ and $m=(n+1)(\rho-1)$.

  • We show that if ${\gamma}$ $\leq$ 2, the average error of the composite Trapezoidal rule on two consecutive intervals is proportional to h$\^$2h+3/ where h is the length of each subinterval of the interval [0, 1]. As a result, we show that the Trapezoidal rule with equally spaced points is optimal in the average case setting when ${\gamma}$ $\leq$ 2.

  • The present study numerically investigates the aerodynamic characteristics of two-dimensional wings in the vicinity of the ground by solving two-dimensional steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with the turbulence closure model of the realizable k-${\varepsilon}$ model. Numerical simulations are performed at a wide range of the normalized ground clearance by the chord length ($0.1{\leq}h/C{\leq}1.25$) for the angles of attack ($0^{\circ}{\leq}{\alpha}{\leq}10^{\circ}$) in the prestall regime at a Reynolds number (Re) of $2{\times}10^6$ based on free stream velocity $U_{\infty}$ and the chord length. As the physical model of this study, a cambered airfoil of NACA 4406 has been selected by a performance test for various airfoils. The maximum lift-to-drag ratio is achieved at ${\alpha}=4^{\circ}$ and h / C = 0.1. Under the conditions of ${\alpha}=4^{\circ}$ and h / C = 0.1, the effect of the Reynolds number on the aerodynamic characteristics of NACA 4406 is investigated in the range of $2{\times}10^5{\leq}Re{\leq}2{\times}10^9$. As Re increases, $C_l$ and $C_d$ augments and decreases, respectively, and the lift-to-drag ratio increases linearly.

  • The phase-shift method and correlation constants, i.e., the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques for studying linear relationships between the behaviors (${\varphi}\;vs.\;E$) of the phase shift ($0^{\circ}{\leq}-{\varphi}{\leq}90^{\circ}$) for the optimum intermediate frequency and those (${\theta}\;vs.\;E$) of the fractional surface coverage ($1{\geq}{\theta}{\geq}0$), have been proposed and verified to determine the Langmuir, Frumkin, and Temkin adsorption isotherms (${\theta}\;vs.\;E$) of H for the cathodic $H_2$ evolution reaction (HER) at noble and transition-metal/aqueous solution interfaces. At the Pt/0.1 MKOH aqueous solution interface, the Langmuir, Frumkin, and Temkin adsorption isotherms (${\theta}\;vs.\;E$), equilibrium constants ($K=5.6{\times}10^{-10}\;mol^{-1}\;at\;0{\leq}{\theta}<0.81$, $K=5.6{\times}10^{-9}{\exp}(-4.6{\theta})\;mol^{-1}\;at\;0.2<{\theta}<0.8$, and $K=5.6{\times}10^{-10}{\exp}(-12{\theta})\;mol^{-1}\;at\;0.919<{\theta}{\leq}1$, interaction parameters (g = 4.6 for the Temkin and g = 12 for the Frumkin adsorption isotherm), rates of change of the standard free energy ($r=11.4\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for g=4.6 and $r=29.8\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for g=12), and standard free energies (${\Delta}G_{ads}^0=52.8\;kJ\;mol^{-1}\;at\;0{\leq}{\theta}<0.81,\;49.4<{\Delta}G_{\theta}^0<56.2\;kJ\;mol^{-1}\;at\;0.2<{\theta}<0.8$ and $80.1<{\Delta}_{\theta}^0{\leq}82.5\;kJ\;mol^{-1}\;at\;0.919<{\theta}{\leq}1$) of OH for the anodic $O_2$ evolution reaction (OER) are also determined using the phase-shift method and correlation constants. The adsorption of OH transits from the Langmuir to the Frumkin adsorption isotherm (${\theta}\;vs.E$), and vice versa, depending on the electrode potential (E) or the fractional surface coverage (${\theta}$). At the intermediate values of ${\theta}$, i.e., $0.2<{\theta}<0.8$, the Temkin adsorption isotherm (${\theta}\;vs.\;E$) correlating with the Langmuir or the Frumkin adsorption isotherm (${\theta}\;vs.\;E$), and vice versa, is readily determined using the correlation constants. The phase-shift method and correlation constants are accurate and reliable techniques to determine the adsorption isotherms and related electrode kinetic and thermodynamic parameters. They are useful and effective ways to study the adsorptions of intermediates (H, OH) for the sequential reactions (HER, OER) at the interfaces.

By means of the fixed point theorem of Leray-Schauder type the existence principles of solutions for two point boundary value problems of the form $\array{(r(t)x^{\prime}(t))^{\prime}+f(t,x(t),r(t)x^{\prime}(t))=0,\;t{\in}I\\x(0)=x(T)=0}$ are established where f satisfies for positive constants a, b and c ${\mid}{f(t,x,y){\mid}{\leq}a{\mid}x{\mid}^{\alpha}+b{\mid}y{\mid}^{\beta}+c\;\;for\;all(t,x,y){\in}I{\times}H{\times}H$.
