초점길이 및 왜곡수차 측정장치 제작 (Fabrication of the focal length and distortion measurement system)

  • A camera type optical bench system equipped with a lens collimator and an image analyzer is fabricated to measure the equivalent focal length and distortion of lenses. This system is automatized by the computer which controls stepping motors. A nodal slide optical bench system equipped with an off axis reflective collimator is fabricated and improved by using rotating arms and air bearing system. distortion measurement on a wide angle lens using the camera method and the nodal slide method is reported. Defocusing error in the distortion measurement with the nodal slide optical bench is analyzed and improved by iteration method to search the correct image point.

  • 홀로그램 광학소자(holographic optical element)의 일종인 holographic collimating lens(HCL)를 최적 설계하였으며, 중크롬산 젤라틴 필름을 사용하기 최적 설계치에 따라 HCL을 제작하였고 그 성능을 평가하였다. off-axis 방식의 holographic zone plate (HZP) 구조를 채택하였으며, 기록광과 재생광의 파장 차이에 의한 색수차를 최소화시키기 위해 유한 광선 추적법과 감쇠 최소자승법으로 최적 설계하였다. Dipping 법으로 제작된 중크롬산 젤라틴(Dichromated Gelatin, DCG) 필름을 기록 매질로 사용하여 HCL을 제작하였으며 회절광의 집적도를 측정하여 그 성능을 평가하였다.

Fabrication of Silicon Nanotemplate for Polymer Nanolens Array

  • Miniaturization of lenses has been widely researched by various scientific and engineering techniques. As a result, micro scaled lens structure could be easily achieved from various fabrication techniques; nevertheless it is still challenging to make nano scaled lenses. This paper reports a novel fabrication method of silicon nanotemplate for nanolens array. The inverse structure of nanolens array was fabricated on silicon substrate by reactive ion etching (RIE) process. This technique has a flexibility to produce different tip shapes using different pattern masks. Once the silicon nano-tip array structure is well-defined using an optimized recipe, it is followed by polymer molding to duplicate nanolens array from the template. Finally, the nanostructures formed on silicon nanotemplate and polymer replica were investigated using FE-SEM and AFM measurements. The nano scaled lens can be manufactured from the same template, also using other replication techniques such as imprinting, injection molding and so on.

  • Recently, remarkable progress has been made in both technology and production of optical elements including aspheric lens. Especially, requirements for machining glass materials have been increasing in terms of limitation on using environment, flexibility of material selection and surface accuracy. In the past, precision optical glass lenses were produced through multiple processes such as grinding and polishing, but mass production of aspheric lenses requiring high accuracy and having complex profile was rather difficult. In such a background, the high-precision optical GMP process was developed with an eye to mass production of precision optical glass parts by molding press. This GMP process can produce with precision and good repeatability special form lenses such as camera, video camera, aspheric lens for laser pickup, $f-\theta$ lens for laser printer and prism, and me glass parts including diffraction grating and V-grooved base. GMP process consist a succession of heating, forming, and cooling stage. In this study, as a fundamental study to develop molds for GMP used in fabrication of glass lens, we conducted a glass lens forming simulation. In prior to, to determine flow characteristics and coefficient of friction, a compression test and a compression farming simulation for PBK40, which is a material of glass lens, were conducted. Finally, using flow stress functions and coefficient of friction, a glass lens forming simulation was conducted.

  • The fabrication of precision optical components by deterministic CNC grinding is an area of great current interest. Replacement of the traditional, craftsman driven, optical fabrication process is essential to reduce costs and increase process flexibility and reliability. Moreover, CNC grinding is well suited to the fabrication of complex shapes such as aspheres, making it possible to design optical systems with fewer components and reduced weight. Current technology is capable of producing surfaces with less than 2 microns peak to valley error, 50 nm rms surface roughness, and less than 1 micron subsurface damage. Bound abrasive tools, in which the abrasive particles are fixed in a second (matrix) material, play an important part in achieving this performance. In this paper, the factors affecting the ultra-fine surface roughness and profile accuracy of machined surfaces of aspheric parts has been analyzed experimentally and theoretically and on ultra-precision aspheric grinding system and precise adjusting mechanism have been designed and manufactured. In the paper we report the results of experiments and modeling performed to examine the effects of machinability, occurring during grinding of optical surfaces, on the tool surface profile. Profiles of machined surface were measured by using SEM. In order to optimize grinding conditions of aspheric lens processing, we performed experiments by design of experiments.

  • Recently, aspheric glass lens molding core is fabricated with tungsten carbide(WC). If molding core is fabricated with silicon carbide(SiC), SiC coating process, which must be carried out before the Diamond-Like Carbon(DLC) coating can be eliminated and thus, manufacturing time and cost can be reduced. Diamond Like Carbon(DLC) is being researched in various fields because of its high hardness, high elasticity, high durability, and chemical stability and is used extensively in several industrial fields. Especially, the DLC coating of the molding core surface used in the fabrication of a glass lens is an important technical field, which affects the improvement of the demolding performance between the lens and molding core during the molding process and the molding core lifetime. Because SiC is a material of high hardness and high brittleness, it can crack or chip during grinding. It is, however, widely used in many fields because of its superior mechanical properties. In this paper, the grinding condition for silicon carbide(SiC) was developed under the grinding condition of tungsten carbide. A silicon carbide molding core was fabricated under this grinding condition. The measurement results of the SiC molding core were as follows: PV of 0.155 ${\mu}m$(apheric surface) and 0.094 ${\mu}m$(plane surface), Ra of 5.3 nm(aspheric surface) and 5.5 nm(plane surface).

MR Polishing을 이용한 비구면 렌즈의 연마 메커니즘 및 연마 특성 분석 (Analysis of Polishing Mechanism and Characteristics of Aspherical Lens with MR Polishing)

  • The aspherical lens was designed to be able to array a focal point. For this reason, it has very curved surface. The aspherical lens is fabricated by injection molding or diamond turning machine. With the aspherical lens, tool marks and surface roughness affect the optical characteristics, such as transmissivity. However, it is difficult to polish free form surface shapes uniformly with conventional methods. Therefore, in this paper, the ultra-precision polishing method with MR fluid was used to polish an aspherical lens with 4-axis position control systems. A Tool path and polishing mechanism were developed to polish the aspherical lens shape. An MR polishing experiment was performed using a generated tool path with a PMMA aspherical lens after the turning process. As a result, surface roughness was improved from $R_a=40.99nm$, $R_{max}=357.1nm$ to $R_a=4.54nm$, $R_{max}=35.72nm$. Finally, the MR polishing system can be applied to the finishing process of fabrication of the aspherical lens.

365 nm 파장대역 고투과율 실리콘 수지 TIR 렌즈 및 고지향성 노광기 광원모듈 제작 (Fabrication of 365 nm Wavelength High Transmittance Silicone Resin TIR Lens and High Directivity Light Source Module for Exposure System)

  • A high directivity TIR (total internal reflection) lens in the UV-A region was designed using a silicone resin, and a UV light source module with a maximum irradiation density of $150mW/cm^2$ was fabricated. The beam angle of the TIR lens was designed to be $8.04^{\circ}$ and the maximum diameter of the TIR lens was Ø13.5. A silicone resin having a UV transmittance of 93% and a refractive index of 1.4 at a wavelength of 365 nm was used, and the lens was manufactured using an aluminum mold, from which silicone could be easily released. The module was fabricated in a metal printed circuit board of COB (chip on board) type using a $0.75{\times}0.75mm^2$ UV chip. A jig was used to adjust the focal length between lens and chip and to fix the position of the lens. The optical characteristics such as illumination distributions of the lens and module were designed using 'LightTools' optical simulation software. The heat dissipation system was designed to use a forced-air cooling method using a heat-sink and fan.
