  • Purpose: This study was performed to measure the accuracy of adjustable dental impression trays by a scanning laser three-dimensional digitizer. Materials and Methods: Metal stock tray and adjustable stock trays were used for 40 stone casts(10 casts each) duplicated a resin master model of mandible and maxilla. The type IV dental stone was poured in a allginate impressions and allowed to set for one hour. The casts were digitized using an optical digitizer. The distance between the reference points were measured and analyzed on the graphic image of 3-D graphic software (CATIA version 5.0). The statistical significance of the differences between the groups was determined by a two-way ANOVA. Results: There were no significant differences between the accuracies of the adjustable stock tray and the master model except anterior arch width of the upper arch and the diagonal arch length and arch length(one side) of the lower arch. Conclusion: The adjustable stock trays showed clinically acceptable accuracies of the study casts produced by them.

Materials and methods: The metal stock, individual, and adjustable stock trays were used for 60 stone casts(10 casts each) duplicated a resin master model of mandible and maxilla. The type IV dental stone was poured in a vinyl polysiloxane impressions and allowed to set for one hour. The master model and the duplicated casts were digitized using an optical digitizer. The distance between the reference points were measured and analyzed on the graphic image of 3-D graphic software(CATIA version 5.0). The statistical significance of the differences between the groups was determined by a two-way ANOVA. Results : There were no significant differences between the accuracies of the adjustable stock tray and the master model except only anterior arch width on the upper arch and the diagonal arch length and arch length on one side of the lower arch. • Swirl injector with adjustable backhole length was analyzed to suppress high-frequency combustion instability in Liquid Rocket Engines. In order to analyze the effect of variable backhole injector as an acoustic absorber, backhole injector was regarded as a quarter-wave resonator. As a result of theoretical approaches and acoustic tests, backhole injector with adjustable length could decrease the unstable modes of combustion chamber. And the damping efficiency was estimated by measuring damping rates experimentally.

  • In this study, the block section length of the given area has been analyzed to improve the headway which caused by the mixed operation of high speed trains and normal trains on the electrified railway of Dongdaegu to Busan. After establishing the average length of block section and the adjustable average length of block section of Dongdaegu to Busan, it is possible to perform the headway simulation regarding the signal system based on the established length. Although high speed trains as well as low speed trains including freight trains operate together, the experimental results indicate that the modification of the block section length shows the possibility of the improvement of headway.

  • The drag reduction effect of a freely-rotatable splitter plate was experimentally investigated in the 2-D wake behind a circular cylinder. By arranging the splitter plate to be aparted with a certain gap from the cylinder, the splitter plate was able to be aligned itself automatically to the flow direction in the tested range of 6.2$\times$$10^3$$\times$$10^4$. As a result, it was proven that the self-adjustable splitter plate always reduced effectively the drag imposed on the body against any arbitrary flow directions. In a specific range of Reynolds numbers, the drag reduction effect was dependent not only on the length of the splitter plate but also on the gap distance between the plate and the trailing edge of the body. For a splitter plate with a specific length, there existed a unique optimum range of gap distance to obtain successfully the drag reduction effect, however, the optimum range of gap distance was dependent on Reynolds number.

  • This study was designed to investigate the fitness of adjustable dental impression trays. The size and shape of these trays were designed from the results of the dental arch size of Korean adults. Tray samples were made by CAD-CAM working. A hundred dental students(male:50, female:50) were selected for taking irreversible hydrocolloid impression using these trays. The author measured the width and length of impression material on the several measuring points. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Uniform impression material thickness was achieved by controlling the width of the tray using stops and beveled guides. 2. In the upper tray, the impression material thickness was measured to be rather great showing thickness of the labial vestibule 8.3 mm and the midpalatal part 8.6 mm. 3. In the lower tray, length of the impression material of the labial vestibule of first, second premolar contact point was 7.8 mm, and thickness of the lingual part of premolars(1.8 mm) and molars(1.9 mm) showed small values. 4. In the lower tray, the impression material thickness of the buccal shelf area(0.2 mm) and the retromolar pad area(0.6 mm) was measured to be too small.

  • Most adjustable-speed drives (ASDs) designed to operate 220[V] induction motors incorporate voltage-source inverters (VSIs), which create motor voltages at high switching frequencies. The motor leads used to connect an ASD to a motor can behave like transmission lines for voltage pulses, which can be reflected at the motor terminals. The resulting oscillatory transient, known as the long-lead effect, can stress and consequently degrade the stator insulation system of a motor. This paper describes the results of tests to 1) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the length of motor leads and 2) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the switching frequency of the ASD

  • Purpose : this study was to evaluate the fitness of adjustable dental impression trays on the Koreans : the trays used in the previous study by Kim et al. as part of the dental adjustable tray development project were improved and modified. Material and method: The patterns of tray were made through CAD-CAM process, and a simple silicone-base molds were made from them. The trial products were reproduced by pouring polyurethane into these molds. 30 male students(Wonkwang University, Dental College) and 30 female students (Wonkwang Health Science College, Department of Dental Hygiene) were selected and Reversible hydrocolloid impression materials were used for this study. The fitness of the trays was evaluated by measuring the width and length of impression materials of each measurement sites. Results and conclusion : 1. In adapting the trays inside the mouth, a uniform width of impression material(3 $\sim$ 6mm) was obtained in most sites due to the tooth stops and the inclined planes accommodating the width of the tray 2. The thickness of impression material in the central part of the palate was a mean 9.8mm, which turned out to be somewhat thick. 3. In the mandible. the thickness of the impression material in the lingual side inferior to the contact point of the 1st and 2nd molars was 2.7mm, and the thickness of the material in the lingual side of the rearmost margin was 2.5 mm. The thickness of the impression material of these areas was relatively thin.

  • The power consumption in the low consistency (LC) refining is an important indicator for the optimal control of the process and it is composed of the net power and the no-load power. The refining efficiency and process characterization of LC refining are directly affected by power consumption. In this paper, the effect of pulp consistency and average fiber length on the power consumption and refining efficiency were studied through the LC refining trials conducted by an experimental disc refiner. It is found that the curve of power-gap clearance can be divided into constant power section, power reduction section, and power increase section. And the no-load power and the adjustable domain of loading applied by the refining plates will increase as the increase of pulp consistency, while the increase of net power is larger than that of no-load power which makes the increasing of refining efficiency. Meanwhile, the adjustable domain of loading applied by the refining plates can be slightly improved by increasing the average fiber length, but its effect on the no-load power in the LC refining process can be neglected. The study of power consumption in LC refining is of positive significance for the proper selection of pulp properties in LC refining, in-depth exploration of refining mechanism, and energy consumption reduction in refining.
