Estimating the Economic Value of the Online Marketplace for Legal Services (변호사검색상담 플랫폼의 경제적 가치 추정)

  • This study examines the usage status of legal services provided by lawyers targeting domestic consumers and investigates empirically how much online platforms that facilitate lawyer search and consultation can increase consumers' utility, and how much the lawyer legal service market will expand through this. To this end, this study applies a discrete choice demand model to the data collected through a conjoint survey to estimate the value of the lawyer search and consultation platform perceived by consumers, and estimates the effectiveness of the platform in expanding the market for lawyer legal services through a simulation method. As a result of the analysis, the relative value that consumers place on finding and consulting a lawyer using the online platform instead of being introduced to a lawyer by an acquaintance or searching for a lawyer offline is estimated to be about 70,414 won. It was found that the existence of lawyer search and consultation platforms could increase the market size of legal services by as little as 18.9% to as much as 70.2%. In particular, the platforms are expected to increase the accessibility of legal services to vulnerable groups.

  • Many buying and selling companies have participated in B2B electronic commerce in order to boost sales and cut down purchase prices respectively. There are some studies on buying and selling companies performances of using B2B e-marketplaces which provide electronic B2B transaction services such as finding transaction partners, providing on-line transaction process like auctioneering, etc. This study investigates the critical failure factors against B2B e-marketplace in other words B2B market-maker or B2B intermediary. We proposed 4 hypotheses asserting that 4 critical failure factors make reverse effects on B2B intermediary performances. We adopt the Balanced Score Card (BSC) framework to evaluate B2B intermediary performance. Data were collected from 46 respondents of B2B intermediaries in Korea. Analyses showed that traditional off-line B2B practices like refunding to buyer or transactions without legal documents and low quality of product information and catalog are critical failure factors against B2B intermediary performance.

The Role of Electronic Trade Specialized Service Provider under Global Trade Environment

  • This thesis examines the problems faced in the electronic trade specialized service provider for which improvements are necessary, and suggests various ways of overcoming those problems. First, from the legal aspect, it is necessary to clarify the scope of duties as well as to expand the threshold for entrance and business areas through the amendment of related laws. Second, from the operating aspect, the e-trade specialized service provider should be able to provide convenient work spaces through user-centered interface by connecting, integrating, automating and simplifying various services scattered around through the establishment of an operating system. Third, from the institutional aspect, trade firms should be able to perform e-trade duties without difficulties by specializing and increasing the size of the e-trade specialized service provider system and strengthening job competence. For this, it is required to improve legal registration requirements to enhance the reliability of the e-trade specialized service provider system and secure its financial capacity.

Suggestion for Reform of Korean Medical-Juridical-Person System: through review on for-profit ownership of Korean medical institutions (영리법인병의원에 대한 고찰을 통한 국내 의료법인제도의 재구성 방안)

  • The rate of conversion to Medical-juridical-persons' ownership of medical institutions has increased rapidly since its start in 1970s in Korea. The most sensitive issue to introduce for-profit medical institutions, ignited particularly by the WTO/DDA negotiations, has sparked considerable debate, stemming largely from conflicting views on the theoretical effects of ownership status on organizational behavior. This study surveyed health-related experts' opinions on allowing for for-profit-firms-owned medical institutions. Some fear that the obligation to maximize the share-holders' return on their investment will cause the medical institutions to eliminate necessary but less lucrative services. They may easily fall under more pressure to generate income, and respond more aggressively than not-for-profit medical institutions to financial pressures. Advocates of for-profit ownership of medical institutions argue that greater responsiveness to the demands of the marketplace will lead to larger investment, higher quality and lower costs to consumers. Referring to both foreign countries' experience and domestic experts' opinions, this study suggests for reform of the current Korean Medical-Juridical-Person(MJP) System. Introduction of so-called “Capital-investment” MJPs is recommended where the properties left in case of their dissolution can be distributed to original investors according to the procedures stipulated in their statutes. However, their annual profits are not allowed to be allocated to investors, but should be reinvested for their medical institutions, as is the case in current MJPs. Their legal aspects are also reviewed in this study.

A Study on the Bidding Trends of the Private Consignment Service of Landscape Management (조경관리 민간위탁용역의 입찰추이에 관한 연구)

  • Based on the bidding data of the national marketplace for public procurement service from 2003 to 2015, this study investigated and analyzed the bidding trends of the landscape management public consignment service by analyzing total bidding, type, client, region, license. The results are as follows. First, the total number of bids for civilian consignment services in landscape management increased by 1,112 cases, corresponding to a 487.7% increase over 10 years, and the total bidding amount increased by 144,504 million won, corresponding to a 382.5% increase. Second, in 10 years, the proportion of landscape management in landscaping works increased by 10%, and the bidding amount increased by 3%. Third, in the analysis of bidding trends by type, green areas showed the greatest growth in the number of bids, while the greenery of buildings showed the highest increase in the bid amount. Fourth, local autonomous entities, Gyeonggi province, and the landscaping planting construction industry showed the highest increase in the number of bids and the amount in each field such as client, region, and license. In summary, the number of cases and the bidding amount is increasing year by year. Considering the increasing number of users and demands thereof, the number of bids and the amount of consignment service for landscape management will continue to increase. The purpose of this study is to investigate and systematically analyze the tendency of bidding for 10 years for the private consignment service of landscape management in the current situation, where the importance of landscape management is increasingly emphasized. Another purpose of this study is to discern the necessity of the landscape management business and to provide the basis for incorporating the landscape management business into the professional construction industry in the future, thus providing opportunities for widening the expertise and diversity of the landscaping field. For the following study, the legal basis of landscape management, qualification, equipment standards, calculation of management cost per unit, and the appropriateness of the management cost should be considered.
