국내 데이터베이스 검색을 통한 요통의 추나의학적 치료에 대한 연구동향 분석 (A Review of Studies on Chuna Manual Therapy for Low Back Pain through Korean Database Search)

  • Objectives This review aimed to investigate studies of Chuna manual therapy (CMT) for low back pain and the evidence of their effects in order to suggest a better research method in the future. Methods We investigated studies on CMT for low back pain by searching Korean web databases from 2020 to 2021. As a result, 72 research papers were analyzed according to their published year, the titles of journals, the types of studies, the techniques of Chuna, and the instruments used for assessment. Results The results were as follows: 1. There were three papers published initially in 2000. this number showed a steady increase, and a total of 72 papers were published that year. 2. Studies on CMT were mainly published in the Journal of Korea Chuna Manual Medicine for Spine and Nerves. 3. When categorized according to the methods of studies, a simple case report was used more often than the sum of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs. 4. The most frequently adopted technique of Chuna in the examined studies was the COX flexion and distraction technique. 5. The Visual Analog Scale and Oswestry Disability Index were used as primary means of assessment. Conclusions Based on the analysis, it was observed that this review provided limited evidence of CMT use in patients with LBP. Therefore, further investigation using well-designed RCTs is required to obtain higher evidence.

필라테스 호흡이 체어 동작에서 몸통 안정화 근육의 활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Pilates Breathing on the Activity of Trunk Stabilizer Muscles during the Movements of Pilates Chair Exercise)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the changes in the muscle activity of the trunk stabilizer muscles before and after incorporating Pilates breathing during three types of Pilates chair exercises. Methods: This study included 33 healthy men and women in their 20's; they were recruited according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. sEMG was used to measure the changes in the muscle activity in the internal oblique/transverse abdominis, rectus abdominis, and erector spinae during the three types of Pilates chair movements (footwork, twist footwork, and bridging) without and with the Pilates breathing integration. The muscle activities of the trunk stabilizers between without and with Pilates breathing were statistically analyzed and compared. Results: The internal oblique/transverse abdominis showed an increase and a significant difference in the muscle activity in all three movements of footwork, twist footwork, and bridging after the Pilates breathing integration (p<.001). The muscle activity of the rectus abdominis (p<.05) and the erector spinae (p<.05) also increased and showed a significant difference after the Pilates breathing incorporation, except in the bridging movement for the erector spinae. The increase in the rate after integrating Pilates breathing was relatively greater in internal oblique/transverse abdominis than in other muscles. Conclusion: When Pilates breathing was applied, the activities of the trunk stabilizer muscles increased significantly and immediately in all three movements of Pilates chair footwork, twist footwork, and bridging. This means that the use of breathing is expected to have a positive and immediate effect on the activation of trunk stabilizers, thus indicating that it can possibly be an effective re-enforcing tool to promote trunk stability when it is integrated to the Pilates chair exercise. Incorporating Pilates breathing also seemed to have a tendency to activate the deep trunk stabilizer muscles more than the superficial stabilizer muscles.

흰쥐에서 MIA로 유발된 골관절염에 선방활명음 가미방이 미치는 영향 (Effects of Sunbanghwalmyung-Eum Gamibang on MIA-Induced Osteoarthritis in Rats)

  • Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the effects of Sunbanghwalmyung-eum gamibang on Monosodium iodoacetate-induced osteoarthritis rats. Methods : Forty Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into 5 groups of 8 rats each. Osteoarthritis (OA) was induced by injecting MIA (2 mg/50 µl) into the joint cavity of the left knee of SD rats belonging to the experimental group, and normal saline was injected into the joint cavity of the left knee instead of MIA in the normal group. To the normal group and the controlled group (OA group), 2 ml of distilled water was orally administered. To the positive control group (Indomethacin group), indomethacin 2 ml at a concentration of 2 mg/kg, to the low concentration group of SHG (Low group), 2 ml of SHG at a concentration of 2 mg/kg, and to the high concentration group of SHG (High group), 2 ml of SHG at a concentration of 4 mg/kg ml was orally administered. The drug was administered for a total of 4 weeks, and histological changes were analyzed by Hematoxylin-Eosin staining and Safranin-O staining. In addition, inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6, and MMP-13, TIMP-1, and GAGs were immunohistochemically analyzed. Finally, hematological examination, blood biochemical examination, and liver and kidney biopsy were performed. Results : SHG groups (Low and High) inhibited the matrix destruction and damage of the knee joint cartilage in SD rat model, and significantly prevented the reduction in cartilage thickness. In SHG groups, the expressions of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and MMP-13 were significantly decreased, and the expressions of TIMP-1, GAGs were significantly increased compared with OA group. The safety indicators had no significant differences among five groups. Conclusions : These results show that SHG has cartilage protection capacity, anti-inflammatory effect.

Mass spectrometry-based ginsenoside profiling: Recent applications, limitations, and perspectives

  • Ginseng, the roots of Panax species, is an important medicinal herb used as a tonic. As ginsenosides are key bioactive components of ginseng, holistic chemical profiling of them has provided many insights into understanding ginseng. Mass spectrometry has been a major methodology for profiling, which has been applied to realize numerous goals in ginseng research, such as the discrimination of different species, geographical origins, and ages, and the monitoring of processing and biotransformation. This review summarizes the various applications of ginsenoside profiling in ginseng research over the last three decades that have contributed to expanding our understanding of ginseng. However, we also note that most of the studies overlooked a crucial factor that influences the levels of ginsenosides: genetic variation. To highlight the effects of genetic variation on the chemical contents, we present our results of untargeted and targeted ginsenoside profiling of different genotypes cultivated under identical conditions, in addition to data regarding genome-level genetic diversity. Additionally, we analyze the other limitations of previous studies, such as imperfect variable control, deficient metadata, and lack of additional effort to validate causation. We conclude that the values of ginsenoside profiling studies can be enhanced by overcoming such limitations, as well as by integrating with other -omics techniques.

저열량 바이오매스 합성가스의 혼소특성 (The Duel Fuel Combustion of Low Calorific Biomass Syngas with Fuel Oil)

  • 바이오매스 합성가스는 저열량 가스이지만 유류를 대체하기 위한 목적으로 공업로, 보일러 등에서 혼소방법으로 이용되고 있다. 혼소버너의 기본구조는 오일버너를 중심부로 하고 저열량 가스 연료를 그 주위로 공급하는 형태로 설계되었다. 본 연구에서는 가스의 균일분산 방법과 가스노즐 각도를 변화시키는 방법을 적용하여 세 종류의 버너를 설계하였다. 연소공기량 증가에 따라 CO 발생량이 감소하였으며, 혼소조건에서 화염으로부터 잔염 발생 원인은 오일버너로부터 미립화 불량인 것으로 나타났다. 혼소조건에서는 가스와 오일연료에 대한 과잉공기 요구량이 서로 다르기 때문에 적절하게 연소공기량을 맞추기가 어려웠지만, 과잉산소 4.7~8.2% 범위에서 안정적인 연소조건 유지가 가능하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 합성가스와 유류의 혼소 이용은 합성가스 성분이 오일보다 연소속도가 빠르게 이루어져 오일버너 미립화를 촉진시켜주고, 오일 단독연소조건보다 CO 배출 농도를 낮게 유지할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

두꺼운 Ag shell이 형성되는 40 wt.% Ag 코팅 Cu 입자의 제조 및 입자 내 결함 억제 (Preparation of 40 wt.% Ag-coated Cu Particles with Thick Ag Shells and Suppression of Defects in the Particles)

  • 내산화성 및 Ag 함량을 증가시킨 Cu계 필러 소재를 제조하고자 평균 직경 $2{\mu}m$의 구형 Cu 입자에 약 40 wt.% 수준으로 Ag를 코팅한 Ag 코팅 Cu 입자를 제조하여 그 내산화 거동을 분석하였다. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid 착화제만을 첨가하여 제조된 Ag 코팅 Cu 입자는 Ag 이온들과 Cu 원자들간의 과도한 갈바닉 치환 반응에 의한 Ag shell/Cu core 계면의 분리 및 입자 내부가 비어있는 결함 입자들이 종종 생성되어 Ag 코팅 Cu 입자의 형상이 무너지는 문제점들이 관찰되었다. 그 결과 40 wt.%의 Ag 코팅 후 결함 입자들의 총 분율은 19.88%까지 증가하였다. 그러나 hydroquinone 환원제를 추가적으로 첨가하여 40 wt.% Ag를 코팅시킨 Cu 입자들의 경우 결함 생성률이 9.01%까지 감소하였고, 표면이 매끄럽고 상대적으로 치밀한 Ag shell이 형성되면서 $160^{\circ}C$의 대기 중에서 2시간동안 노출 시에도 산화에 의한 무게 증가가 관찰되지 않아 향상된 내산화 특성을 나타내었다.

무등산 지역의 식물상 (Floristic Study of Mt. Mudeung)

  • 광주광역시 북구와 화순군 이서면, 담양군 남면의 경계에 접해 있는 무등산의 관속식물상을 조사하고 분포가 확인된 주요식물에 대하여 논의하였다. 2009년 3월부터 2011년 11월까지 총 22회의 현지조사와 전남대 생물학과 표본실 (CNU)의 수장표본 조사가 이루어졌다. 그 결과 123과 441속 668종 5아종 121변종 18품종의 총 816분류군의 분포가 확인되었다. 환경부지정 식물구계학적 특정식물종은 모두 111종이 확인되었는데, 천마를 비롯한 V등급종 9분류군, 매미꽃 등 IV등급종 6분류군, III 등급종인 노각나무 등 21분류군, II등급종으로 석창포 등 18분류군, I등급종으로 청나래고사리 등 66분류군이 조사되었다. 한편 산림청지정 희귀식물로는 멸종위귀종 (CR) 으름난초 1종, 위기종 (EN)인 톱지네고사리, 깽깽이풀 2종, 취약종 (VU)으로 땅나리 등 8종의 희귀식물 총 12분류군의 자생지를 확인하였으며 키버들, 지리바꽃 등 한국특산식물 14분류군을 확인하였다.

보호시스템 보증시험 적용이 장외영향평가 안전성 확보에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Proof Test of Protective System on Securing Safety of Off-site Risk Assessment)

  • The risk is expressed as consequence of damage multiplied by likelihood of failure. The installation of a protective system reduces the risk by reducing the likelihood of failure at the facility. Also, the protective system has different effects on the likelihood of failure according to the proof test cycle. However, when assessing risks in the Off-site Risk Assessment (ORA) system, the variation in risk was not reflected according to the proof test cycle of protective system. This study was conducted to examine the need for proof test and the importance of cycle setting by applying periodic proof test of the protective system to ORA. The results showed that the likelihood of failure and the risk increased with longer proof test cycle. The risk of a two-yearly proof test was eight times greater than that of a three-month cycle. From the results, the protective system needs periodic proof test. Untested protective system for a long term cannot be reliable because it is more likely to be failed state when it is called upon to operate. In order to reduce the risk to an acceptable level, it is effective to differently set the proof test cycle according to the priority. This study suggested a more systematic and accurate risk analysis standard than ORA. This standard is expected to enable an acceptable level of risk management by systematically setting the priority and proof test cycle of the protective system. It is also expected to contribute to securing the safety of chemical facilities and at the same time, will lead to the development of the ORA system.

사료 공급율 및 공급횟수가 저수온기에 사육된 넙치 미성어의 성장 및 체조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Feeding Rate and Feeding Frequency on Growth and Body Composition of Sub-adult Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus in Suboptimal Water Temperature)

  • Two 15-week feeding trials were conducted to investigate feeding rate and feeding frequency for growth of sub-adult flounder in suboptimal water temperature ($12^{\circ}C$). In the first experiment, duplicated groups of fish (initial mean weight of 279 g) were fed a extruded pellet once a day at the different feeding rates of 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.3% body weight per day (BW/d), and satiation (0.32% BW/d). Weight gain and feed efficiency were increased significantly (P<0.05) with increase in feeding rates from 0.1 to 0.3% BW/d, but there were no significant differences in weight gain and feed efficiency of fish fed the diet between 0.3% BW/d and to satiation. Crude protein content of dorsal muscle of fish fed the 0.1% BW/d diet was significantly (P<0.05) lower than that of the other groups. In the second experiment, duplicated groups of fish (initial mean weight of 281 g) were fed to apparent satiation with a extruded pellet at three different feeding frequencies (one meal every two days, one meal a day and two meals a day). Weight gain, feed efficiency and condition factor of fish fed one meal every two days were significantly (P<0.05) lower than those of fish fed one meal and two meals a day, but there were no significant differences in weight gain, feed efficiency and condition factor of fish fed between one meal and two meals a day. Based on the results of this study, optimum feeding frequency is one meal a day with satiation feeding for growth and feed efficiency of sub-adult flounder (270-350 g) in suboptimal water temperature ($12^{\circ}C$).

다양한 바이오매스의 분쇄도 실험을 통한 미분탄 화력발전 적용가능성 연구 (Applicability of Various Biomasses to Pulverized Coal Power Plants in Terms of their Grindability)

  • 기후 변화 대응을 위한 온실가스 감축 측면에서, 석탄화력발전소에서 바이오매스 사용량은 계속하여 증가되어 왔다. 파리 협정 이후 온실가스 감축 목표치가 더욱 구체화되면서 바이오매스 사용은 급격히 더 많아질 것으로 예상된다. 미분탄 석탄 화력발전에서 바이오매스 혼소시 가장 큰 문제점 중 하나는 바이오매스의 미분성이 석탄에 비해 훨씬 낮다는 것으로, 이를 해결하기 위해 가장 먼저 바이오매스의 미분성 측정 방법을 확립하는 작업이 필요하다. 석탄의 경우 HGI (hardgrove grindability index)측정 장치를 통해 분쇄도 측정이 가능하여 이를 표준으로 삼고 있지만, 바이오매스의 경우 표준 측정 방법이 확립되어있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 볼 밀과 입자 크기별 분포량을 이용한 석탄과 바이오매스의 분쇄 실험을 진행하였다. 실험에는 석탄 1종과 바이오매스 6종을 사용하였다. 분쇄시간에 따른 입자 분포량을 비교하고, $75{\mu}m$ 이하 입자 분포량으로 분쇄도를 평가하였다. 실험결과 반탄화 바이오매스 TBC (torrefied biomass chip)와 TWP (torrefied wood chip)는 발전용 사용적합 기준에 대해 대략적으로 70%의 값을 나타냈다. 다른 바이오매스들의 경우 반탄화 바이오매스와 비교했을 때 분쇄성이 훨씬 더 낮은 결과를 보였다. TBC와 TWP는 수분이 감소하고 섬유질 구조가 분해되는 반탄화 과정을 통해 분쇄가 향상되었다. 또한 분쇄도가 높은 반탄화 바이오매스가 소모전력이 낮게 측정되었다. 본 연구를 통해 바이오매스의 석탄화력발전 적용을 위한 표준화 작업의 기초 자료들을 확보할 수 있다.
