New Learning Environment of Linear Algebra in Korea

  • We are introducing a new learning environment for linear algebra at Sungkyunkwan University, and this is changing our teaching methods. Korea's e-Campus Vision 2007 is a program begun in 2003, to equip lecture rooms with projection equipment, View cam, tablet PC and internet D-base. Now our linear algebra classes at Sungkyunkwan University can be taught in a modem learning environment. Lectures can easily being recorded and students can review them right after class. At Sungkyunkwan University almost $100\%$ of all large and medium size lecture rooms have been remodeled by Mar. 2005 and are in use. We introduce this system in detail and how this learning environment changed our teaching method. Analysis of the positive effect will be added.

Analysis of Learning Process and Achievement for Environmental Microbiology Taught in English as a Basis of Environmental Science and Technology

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate Environmental microbiology (EM) as a basic course for the environmental engineering program of Korea Maritime University which has been accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK). Evaluation result of the lecture objectives was more than the average (3.5/5.0). The overall score for learning achievement assessment was more than average level of learning achievement (3.4/5.0). Interestingly, engineering design implementation regarding a specific topic as an extensive learning process has proven to be more effective (3.5/5.0). Some of effective class improvement strategies suggested were to encourage students to participate in the class with self-motivation and accountability: preview and review of the lecture, team presentation in English-speaking settings, and submitting project report written in English. In the future class of EM, test and evaluation of application capability of EM and environmental biotechnology (EB) theories to engineering problem solving should be emphasized.

간호대학생의 SBAR를 이용한 단계별 의사소통 교육프로그램의 효과: 시나리오와 간호사례기반 역할극을 중심으로 (Effect of Stepwise Communication Education Program using SBAR among Nursing Students: Focusing on Scenarios and Nursing Case-based Role Playing)

  • Purpose: This study intends to examine the effects of a stepwise communication education program among nursing college students, focusing on scenarios and nursing case-based role playing. Methods: The study design was a one-group repeated measure ANOVA. Participants were 27 nursing students in practice. Students participated in 5-week stepwise communication education program using SBAR; including 1 week of lecture education, 4 weeks of scenarios and nursing case-based role playing. The data were collected at each level of the education process: pre-education, after 1 week of lectures, and after completion of scenarios and nursing case-based role playing. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to determine changes in SBAR technique knowledge and communication self-efficacy. Results: The stepwise communication education program using SBAR was effective in increasing SBAR technique knowledge, and communication self-efficacy. The lecture-based education was effective only in the area of SBAR technique knowledge and its subscale, attitudes towards SBAR. However, scenarios and nursing case-based role playing was broadly effective across communication self-efficacy, SBAR technique knowledge, and its subscale, knowledge of the SBAR. Conclusion: Based on this study, we propose that it is necessary to confirm the effect of long-term SBAR communication education using scenarios and nursing case-based role playing in nursing students' practice.

고등 학교 과학 "환경" 단원 수업에서 NIE의 효과 (Effect of NIE program on High School Students' Environmental Knowledge, Attitude, and Behavior)

  • 이 연구는 신문을 활용한 토론 위주의 환경 교육이 학생들의 환경 지식 습득, 친환경적 태도와 행동 향상에 주는 영향을 파악하기 위해 수행되었다. 경기도에 위치한 187명의 고등 학교 여학생들을 대상으로 "공통 과학" 과목의 "환경" 단원을 신문을 활용한 토론 위주의 수업과 교과서 중심 강의식 수업으로 나누어 12차시 동안 실시한 후, 각 집단의 환경에 대한 지식, 태도, 행동의 변화를 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 신문 활용 수업은 강의 위주의 수업보다 학생들의 환경에 대한 지식, 친환경적 태도와 행동을 향상시키는데 있어 유의미하게 더 큰 효과를 나타냈다. 환경에 대한 지식, 태도, 행동 함양에 있어 신문 활용 수업의 효과는 상, 중, 하 모든 성취 수준에 걸쳐 공통적으로 나타났다. 다만 하위 수준 학생들의 경우, 환경에 대한 지식 습득 측면에서 신문 활용 수업과 강의 위주 수업의 효과에 있어 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이 연구 결과를 통해, 환경 교육 관련 프로그램 개발 시 신문을 활용한 토론 위주의 수업 방법을 적극적으로 고려할 것을 제안한다.

환경기초시설을 활용한 환경교육 현장체험학습 프로그램 개발 -埋立場을 中心으로- (The Development of the Field-Experience Learning Program of Environmental Education Utilizing Environmental Facilities - Focus on the sanitary landfill -)

  • National curriculum for environmental education recommends various teaching-learning methods including survey and discussion of environmental problems, investigation of case studies, experiments, role play, and field-experience learning in addition to the traditional lecture-oriented teaching methods. The field experience learning in environmental education is considered to be a good method to develop environmentally sound attitude and to cultivate environmental sensitivity, but here has been very limited research concerning models for field-experience learning. The aim of this study is to develop a model of the field-experience learning program of environmental education utilizing environmental facilities. In this study a kind of such a basic model was developed and presented. The developed basic model of the field-experience learning was applied to the case utilizing landfill facilities. A specific application of the landfill program to the Bangcheon-ri landfill, in Daegu, was also presented with related teaching materials developed in this studies. And various aspects in the program was discussed.

공공도서관 문화프로그램 모형 및 운영매뉴얼에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Model and Program Manual of Public Library Cultural Programs)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 공공도서관에 적합한 문화프로그램 모형을 개발하고 운영매뉴얼을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내외 문헌의 프로그램 모형과 매뉴얼을 조사하였고, 도서관 문화프로그램 전문가와 면담을 통해 데이터를 수집하였다. 연구 결과에서 문화프로그램 모형을 내적요소와 외적요소로 구분하여 제시하였다. 문화프로그램의 밑바탕이 되는 틀인 내적요소에는 문화프로그램의 목적과 도구가 포함되고, 개개의 문화프로그램을 어떤 내용을 어떻게 전달할 것인가에 대한 외적요소에는 문화프로그램의 주제 분야 및 형식을 포함시켰다. 도서관에서 문화프로그램을 개발하여 실행하기 위한 운영매뉴얼을 제시하였는데 전 과정을 12단계로 구분하고 각 단계에서 필요한 중요 활동을 따로 제시하여 각 단계에서 무엇을 하여야 할 것인가 서술하였다.

한의학 세계화 연구 : 외국인 학생들을 위한 한의학 교육 프로그램의 개발과 평가 (Globalization of Traditional Korean Medicine: Development of Traditional Korean Medicine Educational Curriculum for Foreign Medical Students)

  • This study was to establish and evaluate international educational program for foreign traditional medicine students with traditional Korean medicine in School of Korean Medicine, Pusan National University, and discussed prerequisite requirements for international educational program. The Introduction to Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) was constructed with Korea and TKM, Understanding TKM, Future of TKM, Clinical Skills (lecture and practice), Clinical practice (observation), Field trip, and others. The overall assessment was concluded as excellent (91.7%). The prerequisite requirements for planning and operating educational program, and key points for the success of international program were discussed. And the necessity of Center for International Educational of Traditional Medicine was described. This study can be used as a reference manual for globalization of TKM education and proposal for making policy on TKM.

레코드매니저의 계속교육 프로그램 개발 (A Study on the Continuing Education Program for Records Managers)

  • 본 연구는 레코드매니저의 계속교육 프로그램 개발을 목적으로 문헌연구와 설문조사를 중심으로 수행되었다. 문헌연구를 통해 레코드매니저가 갖추어야 할 필수적인 기록관리 지식범주를 살펴보았고, 설문조사를 통해 국내 기록물관리 전문요원 57명을 대상으로 계속교육에 대한 요구 및 만족도 등을 조사하였다. 문헌연구와 설문조사 결과를 토대로 레코드매니저를 위한 교육내용, 교육방법, 시간, 강사 등에 대한 구체적인 내용을 포함하는 계속교육 프로그램 모형을 제안하였다.

상담이론과 실제 교과목에서 사례기반 역할극을 활용한 교육이 간호대학생의 공감 및 의사소통 능력에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Education Using Case-Based Role Playing in Counseling Theory and Actual Subjects on the Empathy and Communication Ability of Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생들에게 상담이론과 실제 교과목을 전통적인 방법의 강의식 교육과 사례기반 역할극 교육을 적용하여 공감 능력과 의사소통 능력에 미치는 효과를 파악하기 위해 단일그룹 사전-사후 실험설계를 이용하였다. 연구대상자는 G 지역의 C간호대학에 재학 중인 2학년 전체 학생 중 상담이론과 실제 교과목을 수강하고 연구의 목적을 이해하며 연구 참여에 자발적으로 동의한 학생 66명을 대상으로 하였다. 교육과정은 총 15주의 수업에서 첫 오리엔테이션, 중간고사 및 기말고사 주를 제외하고 6주간 강의식 교육, 이후 6주간 사례기반의 역할극 교육을 하였고, 교육 전, 강의식 교육이 끝난 후, 사례기반의 역할극 교육이 끝난 후 3차례 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 26.0 프로그램을 이용하여 반복측정 분산분석을 이용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 간호대학생 20-29세로 선정하여 성별과 시점에 따라 프로그램의 효과를 비교해 보았을 때 대상자의 공감 능력은 그룹 또는 시점에 따라 유의한 차이가 없었다. 의사소통 능력은 그룹에 따라 유의한 차이가 없었으나 시점에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다(F=4.20, p=.017). 따라서 상담이론과 실제 교과목에 사례기반 역할극을 활용한 교육의 적용은 강의식 교육보다 간호대학생의 의사소통 능력에 긍정적인 효과가 있음이 입증되었다.

간호학생을 위한 웹기반 VRE 감염관리 교육프로그램의 개발 및 효과 (Development and Evaluation of a Web-based Education Program for Nursing Students on Control of Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus Infection)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a web-based education program on control vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) infections and to identify the effects of the program on knowledge and performance of nursing students. Methods: The web-based VRE infection control education program was developed by using the network-based instructional systems design model. The nursing students in the experimental group could access this web-based education program at any time, and as many times as they wanted, during the clinical training period. Effects were evaluated by assessing knowledge and performance of VRE infection control measures during the clinical training period. Results: The contents of the education program included diagnosis, transmission, and treatment of VRE, contact precautions, hand washing, personal protective equipment, environment management, and quizzes. The lecture portion was filmed in a virtual screen studio using flash animation, video, and sound effects, and it was uploaded on an internet site. The knowledge and performance scores of the experimental group after using the education program were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusion: The results suggest that the web-based VRE infection control education program is an effective educational method to enhance knowledge and performance of VRE infection control measures.
