  • Supporting individual or group learners through designing effective learning environment has been major concern for instructional technologists. In CSCL environment, the effectiveness of learning depends not only on the design of the learning incidences but also on that of psychological environment because in CSCL the learners encounter virtually a new environment deviate from the ordinary physical world. CSCL is one of the most demanding environment for learners and thus it requires a highly refined learner support mechanisms. The purpose of the research was to devise conceptual tools for supporting learners in CSCL environment. Especially, the researchers tried to develop special kinds of scaffolding that directly support the collaborative practice in the social and psychological dimension of the learner. Body of literature on scaffolding has been reviewed and effective CSCL environments were observed and analyzed. As a result of the study, the research proposes a new type of scaffolding, named as "collaboration scaffolding" as a conceptual tool for supporting learners in CSCL environment. Also the research suggests three subtypes of scaffolds as the most typical collaboration scaffolding; emotional scaffolds, facilitative scaffolds, and exploratory scaffolds.

  • Learners in web-based learning environment have to keep a stronger will for their study than those in traditional learning environment. Here, this strong will can be told as learner's motivation which is emotional aspects. However, most web-based instructional designs have been based on learner's cognitive aspects. Therefore, this study focused on presenting the strategies for the design of emotional bulletin board and its concrete interfaces.

  • The purpose of the study was to identify key design features of virtual reality with head-mounted displays (HMD) and touchless interface for the hearing-impaired and hard-of-hearing learners. The virtual reality based training program was aimed to help hearing-impaired learners in machine operating learning, which requires spatial understanding to operate. We developed an immersive virtual learning environment prototype with an HMD (Oculus Rift) and a touchless natural user interface (Leap Motion) to identify the key design features required to enhance virtual reality for the hearing-impaired and hard-of-hearing learners. Two usability tests of the prototype were conducted, which revealed that several features in the system need revision and that the technology presents an enormous potential to help hearing-impaired learners by providing realistic and immersive learning experiences. After the usability tests of hearing-impaired students' exploring the 3D virtual space, interviews were conducted, which also established that further revision of the system is needed, which would take into account the learners' physical as well as cognitive characteristics.

  • Purpose: Higher Order Thinking Skills is one of the important aspects in education that must be mastered by the students in order to be qualified in competing at international level. Success in mastering HOTS among the students is always linked to preparation of a good and conducive learning environment. However, does this connection impacts the students' HOTS achievement? Therefore, this research is carried out in order to evaluate the relationship between HOTS and learning environment with the main focus on Accounting Principle Elective Subject (MPEI PP). Research design, data and methodology: Research in the form of correlation is implied in this study and it involves 59 Form 5 students that has learned all syllabus in Form 4's MPEI PP. Results: Evaluation of HOTS level is based on Taxonomy Bloom that covers applying skill, analysing skill, evaluating skill, and creating skill. Result from data analysis found that there is a very weak correlation (r = 0.02) between the two variables with regression equation of average grade point = 75.023 + (-.273) Learning Environment. Conclusion: Thus, a non-significant relationship between HOTS and learning environment is successfully proven through correlation and regression statistical analysis.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of psychological learning environment generated by science teachers upon students' affective perceptions and cognitive learning. The subjects of the study were consist of 2.693 students from secondary school. The students' perception were examined by the tools of PLEIS(Psychological Learning Environment Instrument by Science teacher). SAMS(Science Anxiety Measurement Scale). HARS(High schools' s Attitude Related Science). and ALWSS(Attitude toward Laboratory Work Scale in Secondary school). and cognitive learning outcomes assessed to TIPS II (Test of Integrated Process Skills II ) and science test score. The results of this study suggest that positive psychological learning environment by science teacher should be offered to students for the improvement of science achievement. and learning environment will be used as an instrument of self assessment for improving science teaching strategy. Understanding of relationship among psychological learning environment, affective perception and cognitive learning will be helpful to the design of science teaching and learning process.

  • Web-based learning is currently an active area of research and a considerable number of studies have been conducted on its application in the learning environment. However, in spite of many advances in the research and development of the educational contents, questions about how the environment affects learning remains largely unanswered. In this article, we propose a Web-based learning environment to improve the educational effect. The goal of this article is not to provide a complete system to support Web-based learning but rather to describe some meaningful strategies and fundamental design concepts that utilize information technologies to support teaching and learning.

  • The cloud computing environment is a new trend of web based application parts. It can be IT business model that is able to easily support learning service and allocate resources through the internet to users. U-learning also is a maximal model with efficiency of the internet based learning. Thus, in this research, we proposed a design of u-learning's teaching and learning model that is applying the internet based learning. Proposal method is to fit u-learning and has 7 steps: Preparing, planning, gathering, learning process, analysis and evaluation, and feedback. We make a cloud u-learning server and cloud LMS to process and manage the service. And We also make a mobile devices meta data to aware the model.

  • Reinforcement learning(RL) is the method to find an optimal policy through training. and it is one of popular methods for solving lifesaving and disaster response problems effectively. However, the conventional reinforcement learning method for disaster response utilizes either simple environment such as. grid and graph or a self-developed environment that are hard to verify the practical effectiveness. In this paper, we propose the design of a disaster response RL environment which utilizes the detailed property information of the disaster simulation in order to utilize the reinforcement learning method in the real world. For the RL environment, we design and build the reinforcement learning communication as well as the interface between the RL agent and the disaster simulation. Also, we apply the dimension reduction method for converting non-image feature vectors into image format which is effectively utilized with convolution layer to utilize the high-dimensional and detailed property of the disaster simulation. To verify the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conducted empirical evaluations and it shows that our proposed method outperformed conventional methods in the building fire damage.
