위계적 총체성과 개방적 상호의사소통에 의한 환경캠프 프로그램 평가방법 (An Evaluation Method on the Environmental Camp Program: Hierarchical Holism and Open Inter-communication)

  • The goal of this study was to establish the evaluation method, which consist of the principle, factor, procedure and checklist, on environmental camp program and then to support staffs of environmental camp for decision-making to improve pre-program and develop new one. The main principles of the evaluation method established in this study were Hierarchical holism and Open inter-communication. First, hierarchical holism focused at the interaction among six factors, which were divided by 3 steps : 1) goal(and objectives) 2) learners and sites 3) activities, staffs and media. Second, open inter-communication could be defined a feedback process among all program participants : manager, staff, teacher, volunteer, learner and so on. The evaluation checklist had been developed of 10 comprehensive items and 30 factor-items at the preliminary step but some items were assessed some complex or duplicate in the result of 3 case studies. The suggested checklist was diminished to 5 comprehensive items and 25 factor-items. Several alternatives, which included specifing learners and objectives, developing site-oriented program and establishing the evaluation sheet were suggested for improving environmental camp program.

Development and Application of CT-SPI Model for Improving Computational Thinking for Elementary School Students

  • In this paper, we propose a CT-SPI Model based on a physical computing for improving Computational Thinking(CT) for elementary students. This study analyzes the results obtained from applying the CT-SPI model to fourth-grade class. The model is designed to embrace the learning activities and CT elements for three different stages: System thinking, Prototyping and Interaction. For providing curriculum with CT-SPI model, physical SW educational module is developed, so that learners could focus on internalizing CT. The study results indicate that a learning satisfaction and a degree of learner interest improve significantly. Comprehensive CT capability assessment results in three levels show that the capability in lowest level (score is below 4 out of 10) has decreased by 46.6% but capability in highest level (over 7 out of 10) has increased by 20%.

Analysis of the Impact of Students' Perception of Course Quality on Online Learning Satisfaction

  • In the early 2020, COVID-19 changed the traditional way of teaching and learning. This paper aimed to explore the impact of college students' perception of course quality on their online learning satisfaction. A total of 4,812 valid samples were extracted, and the difference analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were used to make an empirical analysis of college students' online learning satisfaction. The research results were as follows. Firstly, there was no difference in online learning satisfaction among students by gender and grade. Secondly, learning assessment, course materials, course activities and learner interaction, and course production had a significant positive impact on online learning satisfaction. Course overview and course objectives had an insignificant correlation with online learning satisfaction. Thirdly, the total effect of online learning satisfaction was as follows. Course production had the greatest effect, followed by course activities and student-student interactions, followed by course materials. It was the learning evaluation that showed the least effect. This study can provide empirical reference for college teachers on how to continuously improve online teaching and increase students' satisfaction with online learning.

Development of Problem-Based Learning in an English-Mediated College Science Course: Design-Based Research on Four Semesters Instruction

  • Universities in Korea have driven universities' new attempts to adopt more learner-centered and active learning in English. Problem-based Learning (PBL) is one of the well-known constructive teaching and learning methodologies in higher education. Our research goal was to design and develop the optimal PBL practices for a college physics course taught in English to promote learning and course satisfaction. For four semesters, we have tried and adjusted PBL components, and looked at the trend of the exam scores and group work achievement in each semester. We found that the number of problems and the duration of problem solving are the critical factors that influence the effect of PBL in a college physics course taught in English by going through iterative implementation. The iterative process of applying, designing, and constructing PBL to physics classes was meaningful not only in that we have found the optimal PBL model for learning a college physics course, but also in that we have been reflecting on the continuous interaction with learners during the course.

Analyses on the Perception's Differences of Online Teaching Activity according to the Level of Self-Directed Learning in Higher Education Using the IPA Technique

  • The purpose of this study was to identify learners' perception of teaching activities in online classes that were forcibly switched due to COVID-19, and to compare and analyze differences in importance and performance of online teaching activities according to the level of self-directed learning in university students. To address these goals, 31 university students who took courses operated as online classes at university participated in this study, and the collected data were analyzed according to IPA procedures and methods. As a result, for online teaching activities, class attendance check and encouragement, clarity of class objectives, the ability to deliver the content of learning, and the ability of the instructor to deliver lectures were identified as factors to be constantly emphasized. Depending on the level of self-directed learning, there were significant differences between importance and performance in high level learners' interaction strategy with instructor, interaction strategy with learner, and timely provision of instructor's feedback. On the other hand, there was no significant difference between the importance and performance of online teaching activities for learners with a low level of self-directed learning. Based on these research results, several implications for the design of effective online teaching activities in future university education were proposed.

Exploring the Effectiveness of Smart Education in a College Writing Course Utilizing Multimedia Learning Tools

  • With the development of AI, multimedia tools in education offer personalized learning environments, which foster individual competencies. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of smart education as perceived by learners through a case study of university writing classes utilizing multimedia learning tools, and to explore potential applications. To achieve this, a writing course incorporating various multimedia tools to promote interaction was designed and implemented over the course of one semester, targeting 42 university students. Through the semester, student reactions and survey results were analyzed to investigate the effects and satisfaction levels regarding the use of multimedia learning tools in writing instruction as perceived by students. The analysis revealed that multimedia-assisted writing classes effectively fostered learners' autonomy by focusing on individual needs, while also promoting interaction and encouraging spontaneous participation. Students reported recognizing the presence of diverse perspectives by comparing and communicating about each other's writing, leading to an expansion of their own thinking. In using ChatGPT, it was found that students attempted to refine their questions until they obtained the desired answers. They reported that this process deepened their understanding of the essence of the questions. These benefits led to results of high levels of students' active class engagement and satisfaction. This study contributes foundational and empirical data regarding the effectiveness and potential applications of learner-centered smart education as part of fourth industrial revolution integration research.

  • This study was designed to investigate the effect of test anxiety, intelligence, and item arrangement order on test performance in Earth Science. The hypothesis was that there is difference among test achievements scores according to (1) test anxiety-worry levels. (2) item arrangement orders. The test items selected for this study were derived from the text Science (part 1) first grade of high school. The subjects of this study were 164 of high school first grade boy students in Pusan. They were assigned to one of the three groups, according to test anxiety levels.: (1) upper 25% of total subjects designated to high group (2) middle 50% (3) low group, lower 25% of total subjects And according to LQ. (1) upper 25% of total subjects designated to high group. (2) middle 50%. (3) low group, lower 25% of total subjects Analysis of variance was used in this study for hypothesis examination. The dependent variable was the achievement scores of Earth Science test and independent variables were test anxiety(worry, emotionality) level, LQ. level, item arrangement orders. The principal findings of the present study are as follows: (1)Test achievement score trend decreases as the test anxiety (worry, emotionality) increases although the result is not statistically significant. (2)There is no significant difference among test achievement scores according to item arrangement orders. (3)The higher the LQ. is, the more effective test anxiety. And the LQ. has significant interaction effect with test anxiety. (4)There is significant interaction effect between the LQ. levels and itemqr arrangement orders.

가상대학에서 교수자와 학습자간 상호작용을 위한 지식기반형 문자-얼굴동영상 변환 시스템 (Knowledge based Text to Facial Sequence Image System for Interaction of Lecturer and Learner in Cyber Universities)

  • 본 논문에서는 가상대학에서 교수자와 학습자간 상호작용을 위한 지식기반형 문자-얼굴동영상 변환(TTFSI : Text to Facial Sequence Image) 시스템에 관해 연구하였다. TTFSI 시스템의 구현을 위해, 한글의 문법적 특징을 기반으로 가상강의에 사용된 자막정보에 립싱크된 얼굴 동영상 합성하기 위하여 자막정보를 음소코드로 변환하는 방법, 음소코드별 입모양의 변형규칙 작성법, 입모양 변형규칙에 의한 얼굴 동영상 합성법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 한글의 구조분석을 통해 기본 자모의 발음을 나타내는 10개의 대표 입모양과 조음결합에서 나타나는 78개의 혼합 입모양으로 모든 음절의 입모양을 표현하였다. 특히 PC환경에서의 실시간 영상을 합성하기 위해서 매 프레임마다 입모양을 합성하지 않고, DB에서 88개의 해당 입모양을 불러오는 방법을 사용하였다. 제안된 방법의 유용성을 확인하기 위하여 텍스트 정보에 따른 다양한 얼굴 동영상을 합성하였으며, PC환경에서 구현 가능한 TTFSI 시스템을 구축하였다.

증강현실(AR)을 활용한 디지로그 북 인터랙션디자인 연구 (아동 서적물 중심으로) (Digilog Book Interaction Design Using Augmented Reality(AR) (Focused on Children's Books))

  • 증강현실을 활용한 디지로그 북은 애플리케이션을 다운받은 후 모바일에 내장된 카메라를 Image Marker로 등록된 페이지에 비추면 증강현실이 구현되는 형태로서 콘텐츠 구현 방법에는 단편적 한계점을 나타내고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 증강현실 기술을 활용한 디지로그 북에 양방향 인터랙션이 가능한 팝업(Pop-up) 형태의 Multi-Tracking 방식을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 기존 책자형의 디지로그 북과 이번 연구에서 제안한 팝업(Pop-up)형태의 디지로그 북의 두 가지 프로토타입에 대한 증강현실 콘텐츠 구현에 따른 기술적 차별성에 대한 실험을 공인기관에 의뢰하여 검증하였고 시험성적서를 발급받았다. 연구에서 제안한 팝업(Pop-up)형태의 디지로그 북은 가상 이미지를 사용자의 행위(움직임)에 따른 인터랙션 콘텐츠 구현이 가능하여 책의 물리적인 변화자체가 가상콘텐츠에도 전달되는 양방향 인터랙티브 콘텐츠의 장점을 갖고 있으며, 이는 가상 이미지와 인쇄 그림책 간의 상호작용을 유도하고 학습자에게 흥미 유발 및 몰입감을 줄 수 있어 차별화된 디지로그 북의 인터랙션의 표현이 가능할 것으로 보여진다.

  • 능률이 가장 높은 수업 형태는 강의자와 학습자가 상호작용을 통하여 학습자의 자발적인 수업 참여를 유도하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 강의실 중심의 전통적인 수업은 상호작용을 지원하기에 체계나 시스템이 부족한 상태였다. 최근 정부의 정보화 사업의 하나로 학생들에게 태블릿이 제공될 예정이나, 강의 내용을 일방적으로 전달하는 데 그쳐 상호작용이 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 태블릿이 웹 서버를 이용하여 교사와 학생 간 상호작용을 돕는 것을 목적으로 하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 강의에 필요한 기능을 태블릿으로 제공함으로써 수업을 효율적으로 관리하게 하고, 웹 서버를 통한 즉각적인 상호작용이 가능하게 한다.
