  • H.264 processes more detailed and more motion information for the compression efficiency. However, motion vector of H.264 takes more portion than previous standards such as MPEG-1/2/4 do, so that it is needed to consider motion vectors. This paper proposes the new algorithm with leaf mode in order to compress the motion vector efficiently. The proposed algorithm concentrates modes' distribution with leaf mode and carries out the compression of motion vector with less modes. The proposed algorithm adopted in current $4{\times}4$ motion vector matrix also can be extend to $8{\times}8$. The experiments shows that the proposed algorithm reduces up to 12.68% at header and 9.7% at resultant bitstream.

  • The tapered leaf spring is regarded as the adequate tool to improve ride quality and to reduce vehicle weight of commercial vehicles. These effects are due to minimizing the contact area of each leaf by reducing the number of leaves and by optimizing the thickness profile of each leaf. But in adapting the tapered leaf spring to improve ride quality, we often have some problems of bad pitching and bouncing motion. This paper shows the basic properties of tapered leaf spring by rig tests and how to improve ride quality of a vehicle with tapered leaf springs, compared with multi-leaf spring. From the results of vehicle tests and rig tests it is concluded that the ride quality was effected by the dynamic spring rate and the friction of the tapered leaf spring.

  • This report was carried out toxicity test for the mosquito coil made of Ginseng leaf and the residue after extraction of Ginseng root. This results are as follows: In the first group, was not shown any special difference on the body weight, the motion and dissection. In the second group, was not shown any Special difference on the body weight, considerable difference on the motion and considerable loss of appetite besides very slight loss, but came cack soon again to normal state by change of air after a moment. In the third group, the body weight and appetite was depressed very slightly and the motion was shown very slightly difference, but came back soon again to normal state by chenge of air after a moment too. No one was died, and all the animal were the normal state on the reslt of dessection, Therefore, we have positive evidence that this mosquito coil powder is applied to animals without any toxicity.

  • In this paper we present a method for automatic motion vector and brightness based video indexing and retrieval. We extract a representational frame from each shot and compute some motion vector and brightness based features. For each R-frame we compute the optical flow field; motion vector features are then derived from this flow field, BMA(block matching algorithm) is used to find motion vectors and Brightness features are related to the cut detection of method brightness histogram. A video database provided contents based access to video. This is achieved by organizing or indexing video data based on some set of features. In this paper the index of features is based on a B+ search tree. It consists of internal and leaf nodes stores in a direct access a storage device. This paper defines the problem of video indexing based on video data models.

  • This paper presents a force/displacement sensing system to measure penetration depths and machining forces during pattering operation. This sensing system consists of a leaf spring mechanism and a capacitive sensor, which is mounted on a PZT driven in-feed motion stage with 1nm resolution. The sample is moved by a xy scanning motion stage with 5nm resolution. The constructed system was applied to nano indentation experiments, and the load-displacement curves of silicon(111) and aluminum were obtained. Then, the indentation samples were measured by AFM. Experimental results demonstrated that the developed system has the ability of preforming force/depth sensing indentations

  • This paper presents an ultra precision machining system using a high sensitive force sensing module to measure machining forces and penetration displacement in a tip-based nanopatterning. The force sensing module utilizes a leaf spring mechanism and a capacitive displacement sensor and it has been designed to provide a measuring range from 80 ${\mu}N$ to 8 N. This force sensing module is mounted on a PZT driven in-feed motion stage with 1 nm resolution. The sample can be moved by X-Y scanning motion stage with 5 nm resolution. In nano indentation experiments and patterning experiments, the machining forces were controlled and monitored by the force sensing module. Then, the patterned samples were measured by AFM. Experimental results demonstrated that the developed system can be used as an effective device in nano indentation and nanopatterning operation.

  • Air springs are now widely used in bus or truck suspensions due to their advantages over conventional metal spring as coil or leaf springs. Air springs have soft spring rates, which give better ride quality, and additional leveling system provides constant ride height and maintains almost same vertical natural frequencies. A mathematical model of an air spring suspension system with height control system is constructed and dynamic responses of the suspension system are investigated in the light of leveling valve motion characteristic, vertical motion natural frequency. Also, using a full vehicle model, handling characteristics of an air spring suspension is studied and the results are compared with real test results, which shows good agreements.

  • As the LNG carrier operates in ice covered waters, it is key to ensure the overall safety, which is related to the coupling effect of ice-breaking process and internal liquid sloshing. This paper focuses on the sloshing simulation of the ice-breaking LNG carrier, and the numerical method is proposed using Circumferential Crack Method (CCM) and Volume of Vluid (VOF) with two main key factors (velocity νx and force Fx). The ship motion analysis is carried out by CCM when the ship navigates in the ice-covered waters with a constant propulsion power. The velocity νx is gained, which is the initial excitation condition for the calculation of internal sloshing force Fx. Then, the ship motion is modified based on iterative computations under the union action of ice-breaking force and liquid sloshing load. The sloshing simulation under the LNG tank is studied with the modified ship motion. Moreover, an ice-breaking LNG ship with three-leaf type tank is used for case study. The internal LNG sloshing is simulated with three different liquid heights, including free surface shape and sloshing pressure distribution at a given moment, pressure curves at monitoring points on the bulkhead. This present method is effective to solve the sloshing simulation during ice-breaking process, which could be a good reference for the design of the polar ice-breaking LNG carrier.

  • This paper presents a nature-inspired wideband sprout-leaf shaped antenna with end-fire radiation pattern. A sprout-leaf shape angled-radiator was designed for wide beamwidth radiation patterns for motion detection sensors. An extended and truncated ground plane was used as a reflector for end-fire radiation patterns. To feed the balanced radiator, a broadband microstrip (MS) to coplanar stripline (CPS) balun was utilized with excellent amplitude and phase balance. The proposed antenna demonstrates wide frequency bandwidth from 8.5 to 14.5 GHz with wide beamwidth and the radiation efficiency of 90%. The measured gain is from 4 to 5 dBi and front-to-back ratio was 10 to 20 dB. It has been shown that the proposed antenna can be used for imaging sensors, phased array systems, and radars that require a wide bandwidth and a directional radiation pattern.
