A set of experiments was carried out for obtaining the velocity field around the hydrofoil of finite span, using a wing of the NACA 0012 section in a circulating water channel. DPIV technique was used to measure the velocity field, and the velocity measurements along the span were done for 3 speeds, 3 submerged depths, and 4 angles of attack. Experimental data are compared with the theoretical assumptions, as well as the numerical findings by Lee and Lee(2004). Special care is given to the flow near the tips and in the region close to the leading edge. Though indirect, using the measured data of the velocity, it is now possible to compare the aerodynamic and the hydrodynamic strength of the circulation distribution of a wing in the framework of the lifting-line theory.

In the last few years, banks have experienced more challenging market than any other times. They need to find new ways to reconnect with their customers and rebuild their trust. But in the race to the future some banks are taking clear lead. Research works show that while high perform leading banks are different, they also share some common characteristics and principles that have allowed them to move ahead to profitable growth. Cost cutting is no longer enough to succeed in tomorrow's world. Instead, the IT function needs to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the business to support the growth agenda. Therefore "C" level's attention is moving from cost reduction towards customer experience, speeding to market for new offerings, analytics and distribution channel enhancements, taking advantage of several levers that will shape the technology agenda for the high performing organization. Next generation of digital core-banking solutions will improve pre-existing capabilities, introduce new innovations and drive qualities such as flexibility and scalability to support time to market.
This study presents the centrifugal compressor performance for three different vane stagger angles and wall pressure distribution within vaned diffuser channels, and is also discussed about the stability with respect to the compressor components. As the vane stagger angle decreases, the flow rate for the stall onset decreases, and higher pressure can be obtained at the low flow rate region, however, the effective operation range of the compressor decreases because of the blockage effect of the diffuser vane. Low pressure pocket within the vaned diffuser channel moves from the pressure side of leading edge to the suction side as the flow rate decreases. The compressor system stability mainly depends on that of the diffuser.

Heat sink has extended surface area for enhanced heat transfer. The enhanced convection heat transfer has been used widely, such as cooling electronic chips in the electronics industry. Heat sink usually requires an increase in the heat transfer and a decrease in the pressure drop, and must improve the performance in the flow field of industrial plants. In this study, wing fin heat sink was studied and tests were conducted in a rectangular cross sectional channel with wing fin heat sinks. The leading and trailing ends of a wing fin have a sharp edge, simulating the airfoil feature. Empirical correlations have been developed for wing fin heat sink types. And wing fin heat sinks have better cooling performance than elliptic fin and square fin types.
AC-electroosmosis is one of the electrokinetic forces leading to phenomena peculiar in the microfluidics. This paper shows particle deformation in the microchannel with rectangular electrodes on the bottom wall for the AC-electroosmotic flows. We make a PDMS microchannnel with ITO electrodes To measure velocity distributions of the particles we used a three-dimensional particle tracking velocimetry (micro-PTV) technique this method is Particle tracking by interpolation the diffraction pattern ring diameter variations with the defocusing distances of base particle locations. we induce a function of frequency at the electrode. We find the velocity of particles is the most at the edge of the electrodes and Particles move to side wall or center of the channel for the bottom and middle.
An experimental investigation of the flow over the rectangular body located in close proximity to a ground board was reported using the particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique. The present experiments were conducted in a closed-loop open surface water channel with the Reynolds number, $Re_H=1.2{\times}10^4$ based on the model height. In addition to the PIV measurements, flow visualization studies were also carried out. The PIV technique provided instantaneous and time-averaged velocity vectors map, vorticity contours, streamline topology and turbulent quantities at various locations in the near wake. In the vertical symmetry plane, the upperbody flow is separated from the sharp top leading edge of the model and formed a large reverse flow region on the upper surface of the model. The flow structure downstream of the model has asymmetric double vortices. In the horizontal symmetry plane, identical separated flow regions occur on both vertical side walls and a pair of primary recirculatory bubbles dominates the wake region.
Undesirable flapping motion of discs can cause the failure of swing check valves in nuclear passive safety systems. Time-resolved particle image velocimetry (PIV) was employed to investigate the flow characteristics around a free-to-rotate plate and the motion response, with the Reynolds numbers, based on the hydraulic diameter of the channel, from 1.32 × 104 to 3.95 × 104. Appreciable flapping motion (±3.52°) appeared at the Reynolds number of 2.6 × 104 with the frequency of 5.08 Hz. In the low-Reynolds-number case, the plate showed negligible flapping. In the high-Reynolds-number case, the deflection angle increased with reduced flapping amplitude. The torque from the fluid determined the flapping amplitude. In the low-Reynolds-number case, Karman vortices were absent. With increasing Reynolds numbers, Karman vortices developed behind the plate with larger deflection angles. Strong interaction between the wake flow from the leading and trailing edge of the plate was observed. Based on power spectrum density (PSD) analysis, the vortex shedding frequency coincided with the flapping frequency, and the amplitude was positively correlated to the strength of the vortices. Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) modes evince that, in the case of appreciable motion, coherent structures exhibited a larger spatial scale, enhancing the magnitude of the external torque on the plate.

Ultra-low-head is an unexplored classification among the sites in which hydroelectric power can be produced. This is typically owing to the low power output and the economic value of the turbines available in this segment. A turbine capable of operating in an ultra-low-head condition without the need of a dam to produce electricity is developed in this study. A gate structure installed at a shallow water channel acting as a weir generates artificial head for the turbine mounted on the gate to produce power. The turbine and generator are designed to be compact and submersible for an efficient and silent operation. The gate angle is adjustable to operate the turbine at varying flow rates. The turbine is designed and tested using computational fluid dynamics tools prior to manufacturing and experimental studies. A parametric study of the runner blade parameters is conducted to obtain the most efficient blade design with minimal hydraulic losses. These parameters include the runner stagger and runner leading edge flow angles. The selected runner design showed improved hydraulic characteristics of the turbine to operate in an ultra-low-head site with minimal losses.

In this paper, we introduce a method of scattering centers extraction using the polarimetric data. VIRAF software based on the PO (Physical Optics) and PTD(Physical Theory of Diffraction) were used to calculate the surface scattering and the edge or wedge scattering, respectively. In addition, by using the unitary transformation, 4-channel data based on the linear polarization basis were converted to 2-channel data based on the left/vertical-circular polarization basis, leading to data compression coherently. The scattering mechanism was analyzed in terms of the polarization states and different look angles by using the scattering center of a target extracted by the 2D RELAX algorithm.

Conjugate heat transfer analysis was performed to investigate the flow and cooling performance of the high pressure turbine nozzle of gas turbine engine. The CHT code was verified by comparison between CFD results and experimental results of C3X vane. The combination of k-${\omega}$ based SST turbulence model and transition model was used to solve the flow and thermal field of the fluid zone and the material property of CMSX-4 was applied to the solid zone. The turbine nozzle has two internal cooling channels and each channel has a complex cooling configurations, such as the film cooling, jet impingement, pedestal and rib turbulator. The parabolic temperature profile was given to the inlet condition of the nozzle to simulate the combustor exit condition. The flow characteristics were analyzed by comparing with uncooled nozzle vane. The Mach number around the vane increased due to the increase of coolant mass flow flowed in the main flow passage. The maximum cooling effectiveness (91 %) at the vane surface is located in the middle of pressure side which is effected by the film cooling and the rib turbulrator. The region of the minimum cooling effectiveness (44.8 %) was positioned at the leading edge. And the results show that the TBC layer increases the average cooling effectiveness up to 18 %.
