This research examined whether there are differences in group decision making between senior leader groups and junior leader groups. Results revealed that senior leaders contributed more during the discussion than junior leaders, and groups with senior leaders performed better than the groups with junior leaders. In post-discussion activities group members noted that senior leaders were able to represent their groups better, and showed better leadership during discussion. On the other hand, the leader's age impacted differently depending on leader selection methods. For senior leaders, leaders randomly assigned were perceived to be more beneficial to groups. However for junior leaders, leaders systematically selected were perceived to represent their groups better and exhibit better leadership. The interaction between leader's age and leader selection seems to arise from a difference of leader's power bases.
This study expanded the superiority of random leader selection procedure on group decision-making task to actual group performance task, and examined the interaction effects of leader selection procedure(LSP) and collective efficacy(CE) on group performance. 2(LSP: formal/random)×2(CE: low/high) between subject design was used. The result revealed the significant main effect of LSP, which showed that groups with random leader performed better than those with formally selected leader. Further, significant interaction effect of LSP and CE revealed that when group's CE was high, group with random leader performed better than group with formally selected leader, and the difference between two groups was not significant when group's CE was low. These results suggested that LSP should not impair shared social identity of the group in order to maintain the positive effect of CE on group performance. The necessity for expanding these results to work team was discussed.

The naval combat system is a distributed system in which various subsystems are integrated and operated together. The integrated management system(IMS) is a software system for systematically and consistently managing the application software which control and operate various devices in such a combat system. Since the malfunction or failure of such an IMS can disable the entire combat system, the IMS is more important than other application software of the combat system. In this paper, we propose a method to guarantee the stable and correct operation of the combat system. To this end, we propose a redundancy scheme composed of one leader and several followers so as to tolerate the failure situation of the IMS. We also propose a leader selection algorithm to select a new leader when the leader fails and can no longer perform its role. To verify the validity of the study, we verify the fault tolerance behavior of the system and the accuracy of the leader selection algorithm.
This study has been attempted using the Q methodology to clarify leader type of nurse managers that head nurses and general nurses recognize, and to clarify its relative relation. Sixty-three statements were extracted through interviews with general and professional people interested in the subject of nurse leaders to extract the Q population. A total of 314 Q population was formed added with 251 questions extracted from related documents. Final 32 Q samples were selected by reorganization of 314 Q population after reexamining statements through inquiry of 1 professor of the nurse department, 2 students in course of nurse science masters degree and 2 students in course of doctoral degree. The P sample selection standard of this study were 25 nurses and 30 head nurses. Examination subjects themselves filled out 32 statements classified in a measure of 9 points from agreeable items to disagreeable items. Principal component factors were analyzed using the QUANL pc program after grading the contents of the P sample. Nurses recognizing subjective structure for leader behaviors of nurse manager were analyzed to be 3 factors: vision presentation type, self-capability consideration type, relationship consideration type, and head nurses recognizing subjective structure were analyzed to be 2 types: task pursuit leader type, and concord pursuit type. Nursing manager's leader behavior, expected by staff nurse are more complex and higher level which may combined with task pursuit leader type in concord pursuit leader of head nurse. Also according to Horsey and Blanchard theory(1977), the effectiveness of leadership becomes to be larger as the accordance rate between the behaviors of nurse leaders and followers reaction increase Two suggestions have been made based on the conclusion. 1. Studies on creating strategies in relation to development, management, selection of nurse leaders should be made based on this study. 2. There is a need for relative study of production and degree of similarity of leadership types based on this study.
The performance of transmission lines and its shielding design during a lightning phenomenon are quite essential in the maintenance of a reliable power supply to consumers. The leader progression model, as an advanced approach, has been recently developed to calculate the shielding failure rate (SFR) of transmission lines using geometrical data and physical behavior of upward and downward lightning leaders. However, such method is quite time consuming. In the present paper, an effective method that utilizes artificial neural networks (ANNs) to create a metamodel for calculating the SFR of a transmission line based on shielding angle and height is introduced. The results of investigations on a real case study reveal that, through proper selection of an ANN structure and good training, the ANN prediction is very close to the result of the detailed simulation, whereas the Processing time is by far lower than that of the detailed model.
The purpose of this study is to suggest a customized servant leadership by exploring the effects of stewardship and community building factors on the subordinates' trust in leader of lower hierarchy and their job engagement. Regression analysis showed that stewardship is higher than community building in terms of its influence on job engagement, while community building outstrips stewardship in terms of trust in leader. Specifically, two items of stewardship factor - valuing the opinions of the subordinates in decision-making, and sacrificing without giving priority to the leader's self-interest - influenced the subordinates' trust in their leader. Of the items in community building, cooperating rather than competition, abiding by the principles in performing the work, the leader's not seeking recognition or compensation, and giving the subordinates the necessary authority to perform their work put impacts on the subordinates' trust in the leader, as well. As for job engagement, helping subordinates grow and develop, and, if necessary, taking the risk of challenging the job have a significant impact. Among the items of community building, it was found that the leader's not seeking recognition or compensation, and keeping the principles strictly in performing her duties promote job engagement. Based on these results, we propose to managers of human resources department the selection and training of tailored talents to meet the environmental characteristics of each organization, while avoiding programs for hiring and training personnel equipped with the uniform qualities of servant leadership.

This study is an attempt at developing an organizational model for collection development a n.0, pplicable to Korean university libraries at their present stage of development. An emphasis is placed on the discussion of the 'subject a n.0, pproach' as compared to 'functional a n.0, pproach' in collection development work. The case history of Pusan National University Library is extensively used. The proposed collection development model consists of the following elements : - To form a collection development team and to place under the team leader subject bibliographers as follows: Bibliographer for Serials Bibliographer for Humanities Bibliographer for Social Sciences Bibliographer for Sciences and Technologies - Collection development team could operate as a separate department or as part of other departments, i. e., Deputy Director's office, Acquisitions and Processing Department, or Resources Management Department. - Collection development team takes up the responsibility for policyrelated collection work, i. e., budget allocation, evaluation of existing collection, building core collection, preservation, weeding and cooperation. - Designated certified librarians located at the(planned) subject libraries take up the responsibility for selection. Subject bibliographers cooperate with selection librarians and coordinate their work. - Certified librarians at the Acquisitions and Processing Department are assigned subject areas. They operate as acquisitions librarian and processing librarian simultaneously with their assigned subject materials.
This research presents a prototype development and implementation of Decision Support System (DSS) for integrated river basin water management for the flood control. The DSS consists of Relational Database Management System, Hydrologic Data Monitoring System, Spatial Analysis Module, Spatial and Temporal Analysis for Rainfall Event Tool, Flood Forecasting Module, Real-Time Operation of Multi Reservoir System, and Dialog Module with Graphical User Interface and Graphic Display Systems. The developed DSS provides an automated process of alternative evaluation and selection within a flexible, fully integrated, interactive, centered relational database management system in a user-friendly computer environment. The river basin decision-maker for the flood control should expect that she or he could manage the flood events more effectively by fully grasping the hydrologic situation throughout the basin.
The goal of this study was to explore topic defining patterns of students in interdisciplinary Capstone Design Class. Thematic analysis methodology was used to examine 85 Korean college students' lived experience of project topic generation which is for interdisciplinary capstone design class and Individual open-ended survey for constituted the data sources. Findings show four contexts of student's topic defining patterns using thematic analysis including (a) one leader's directed problem representation, (b) team common decision making after brainstorming, (c) empathy with professor proposed issue, (d) problems offered to students by corporate or research competitions. Based on research result, I could suggest instructional strategies of Capstone Design Class of teacher for helping their students' topic defining. It was necessary to minimize the opinions of the instructors at the beginning of class and minimize the number of team members. And also it provided a lot of opportunities to collaborate with companies in the topic selection process, it will help to develop the students' ability to determine the valuable topic in project.

In this study three types of aggregation methods such as the Estimate-Talk-Consensus (ETC) process, the Estimate-Talk-Estimate (ETE) process, and as a new approach the Estimate-Talk-Leader's Estimate (ETLE) process are compared to find which one of the three group processes considered is more effective than others. We, also, investigate the effect of group size on the performance of the group processes. Some experiments were conducted. It was shown that both the ETC and the ETLE processes performed better than the ETE process in approaching correct estimates in this judgmental task. As the size group increased, only the ETC and the ETC processes were shown to result in positive effect.
