시뮬레이션에 의한 복합형 흐름라인 간의 성과 비교 (Comparative study of the performance of pure and hybrid flow lines using computer simulation)

  • There has been a great deal of interest in the area of group technology recently. They suggest that group technology's formation of cells of machines which are dedicated to production of families of parts will bring many of the advantages of cellular layout of job shops. In this context, Yoon [2] designed and suggested 3 types of the layout structure for a small firm, by introducing the cellular layout into the traditional flow line of an existing factory. Also he found that P5C, i.e. process layout /5 cells layout, outperformed the rest types. However, he performed the experiments in the standpoint of the existing factory operation and did not consider other operating methods including changing the dispatching and sequencing rules. Therefore, in this paper, we compared the performance of 3 different layout by the simulation technique using the real data from the existing factory, considering a newly suggested dispatching and machine selection rule.

FactoryCAD를 이용한 보일러 제조업체의 설비배치 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Facilities Layout with FactoryCAD in a Boiler Factory)

  • This paper deals with a case study on the process improvement and the layout design of a boiler factory with FactoryCAD. Firstly, two alternatives of job reallocation are suggested with the understanding of problems in current process. The layout planning for these new alternatives is carried out by simple procedure and the detailed analyses are performed by the aid of FactoryCAD program. The result shows that the new layout plan brings on about 10% reduction of travel distance. The utilization of FactoryCAD program can simplify the process of layout design.

  • This study is to develop the interactive program for work-cell layout of SCAPA type robot using PC. To make the program interactively, we made use of the software which have the function of menu, dialog box, and graphic. By using the mouse, we can progress the program quickly and easily. It has 2 1/2 dimension and provides that one can layout the elements(robot, peripheral device, and etc.), create the work path, and calculate the robot cycle time. By comparing with cycle times of any number of work-cell layout for the same work, we can evaluate work-cell layout and select one work-cell layout to be considered optimal one which has the least cycle time.

  • This paper describes some research works of computer-aided design of blanking and piercing for stator and rotor parts and irregularly shaped sheet metal by press. An approach to the system is based on knowledge based rules. The process planning system by considering a blank layout for nesting of irregularly shaped sheet metal and an improved strip layout for stator and rotor parts and irregularly shaped sheet metal is implemented. Using this system, design parameters(utilization ratio, slitting width, pitch, working order, die blank shapes) are determined and output is generated in graphic forms. Knowledges for blank layout and strip layout are extracted from the plasticity theories, handbooks, relevant references and empirical know-hows of experts in blanking companies. The implemented system provides powerful capabilities for process planning of stator and rotor parts and irregularly shaped sheet metal.

  • Pattern layout design is very important to the automation of apparel industry. Until now, the genetic algorithm and Tabu search method have been applied to layout design automation. With the genetic algorithm and Tabu search method, the obtained values are not always consistent depending on the initial conditions, number of iterations, and scheduling. In addition, the selection of various parameters for these methods is not easy. This paper presents a hybrid search method that uses a neural network and simulated annealing to solve these problems. The layout of pattern elements was optimized to verify the potential application of the suggested method to apparel pattern layout design.

  • A layout design of an excavator front is a coupled design. Parameters of the layout design are coupled each other. So it is difficult to make decisions to set the parameters of the layout of an excavator front. We analyze the parameters of the layout design of an excavator front. We regroup the parameters as interface groups. And we suggest a new design process which is based on the interface groups. And we redesign user-interfaces of the Knowledge based Excavator Design System(KEDS).

  • In the future, the sorting machines will be taken charge of the most part of the letter sorting operations. At present, in order to deliver the sorted letters by the next day, many labors are intensively committed in the letter sorting operations. This research analyzes the problem of the facilities layout in registry department of mail center. It presents an improved design of facilities layout in comparison with several alternatives including the current layout using AutoCAD and FactoryCAD. It presents the optimized facilities layout using the algorithm which is embedded in the FactoryOPT. By the result of this research, we expect that the productivity of sorting letter will be improved and the related total labor cost will be minimized.

  • As building space constitution and layout are critical for satisfying the building owner and users, their optimization is so important in the design process. However it's not always simple to set up objective criteria for the space layout optimization for different requirements and the architects mostly depend on their own experience for these. This study is to suggest a way to make up for this issue by referencing and deducing the space layout based on the given BIM space information and existing knowledge. For this purpose, the Space Syntax is applied to extract the information from a space model and an Expert System is used to make the best use of the relevant knowledge. Based on the Integration indexes for all the spaces, we could compare the space layout alternatives and determine the best selection for different accessibility conditions.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop rational layout model for small and medium scale industry in Korea. The methodology of this paper is to light the importance of small and medium scale company. Moreover, to overcome the problem of layout in non-massing jobbing production shop this paper is proposed four techniques. So proposed layout model is obtained analytically in single, multiple facility location problem The result of this paper is as follows : First, alternatives to overcome abnormal layout in small and medium company are 1) GT (Group Technology) 2) SLP (Systematic Layout Planning) 3) OR (Operations Research) 4) Computer Second, in single facility location problem, Gradient method and square weighted average method are studied. Lastly in multiple facility location problem, heuristic method is obtained.
