  • In this paper, we propose a layered pattern authentication scheme resistant to social engineering attacks. Existing android pattern lock scheme has some weak points for social engineering attacks. Thus, the proposed scheme improves the existing pattern lock scheme. In our scheme, pattern is recorded by touch screen, however, it is different with existing schemes because of the layered pattern. During the pattern registration process, users register their own pattern with many layers. Thus, registered pattern is 3D shape. When the smudge attack is occurring, the attacker can see the shape of user pattern through the smudge on smartphone screen. However, it is described on 2D surface, so acquired pattern is not fully determine to users original 3D shape. Therefore, our scheme is resistant to social engineering attack, especially smudge attack.

  • Numerical simulation is made of a stably stratified salt-water solution due to lateral heating in an equilateral trapezoidal enclosure using boundary-fitted coordinate in grid generation. Results show four types of the global fluid pattern depending on the buoyancy ratio in the enclosure, i.e., unicell flow pattern for the low buoyancy ratio, layered flow pattern for the increasing buoyancy ratio, layered flow pattern with stagnant zone for the relatively high buoyancy ratio and stagnant flow pattern for the much higher buoyancy ratio.

  • In this paper, in order to implement the multi-layered perceptron neural network using pure digital logic circuit model, we propose the new logic neuron structure, the digital canonical multi-layered logic neural network structure, and the multi-stage multi-layered logic neural network structure for pattern recognition applications. And we show that the proposed approach provides an incremental additive learning algorithm, which is very simple and effective.

  • Conventional machining technologies such as a milling process have limitations in accuracy to fabricate microstructures. Deep X-ray lithography using the synchrotron radiation is a promising micromachining process with an excellent accuracy, whereas there are difficulties in the fabrication of multi-layered structures. Therefore, it is mainly used for fabricating simple mono-layered microstructures with a high aspect ratio. In this study, a novel technology for fabricating multi-layered microstructures is proposed by combining two processes. In advance, an X-ray resist material is cut and machined into various shapes and heights by the micro milling process. Subsequent X-ray irradiation process facilitates the fabrication of multi-layered microstructures. The proposed technology can overcome the limitation of the pattern accuracy in conventional milling process and the difficulty of the multi-layered machining in x-ray process. The usefulness of the proposed technology is demonstrated in this study by applying the technique in the realization of various multi-layered microstructures.

  • This paper analyzed the collections of Dries Van Noten and found the influences of oriental ethnic costumes. The oriental looks which he had shown in his collections are followings : Largely, the menswear designs of Van Noten took the concept of an easy and loose style which is a common shape in oriental ethnic costumes. Especially various transformations of layered look were found in his collections. Design ideas of Van Noten's womenswear style included variations of a sarong style, a kimono style, and etc. Also in his womenswear collections, various styles of layered look were shown. He often used lustrous fabrics like satin, brocade, and damask which are driven from the oriental region. His collections had Chinese dragon-or flower-pattern, Japanese geometric pattern, and Indian henna pattern. The patterns were embroidered or gilded.

  • This research has analyzed SI, the traditional steel, and SIHS(SI + HS), SICS(SI + CS), and SINiS(SI + NiS), the materials that were produced through welding and reprocessing three modern steel- HS, CS, and NiS- that have different carbon content. The purpose of the analyzation was to improve the definition of the multi-layered pattern that appears in the forging process. In observing modified structures on the commissures of three modern steel that have different carbon component to the SI, SINiS produced the most significant multi-layered pattern as well as the excellent welding quality. The excellent welding quality was due to the content of nickel which helped the forge welding process with other materials. There was no significant difference in crystal grain per materials, and SICS showed the highest hardness. At the measurement of EPMA for commissures of the materials, SINiS showed the highest definition of the multi-layered pattern due to the nickel and carbon content. The results above showed that the carbon steel with nickel content is the best material for the most definite multi-layered pattern, expressed from the multi-layered structure which is a characteristic of traditional forge welding technology. It is expected that the result of this research can be utilized as the technical data in further researches regarding the relics excavated from ancient welding process and their multi-layered structure and patterns.

  • The well-known back-propagation algorithm for multi-layered neural network has successfully been applied to pattern c1assification problems with remarkable flexibility. Recently. the multi-layered neural network is used as a powerful data mining tool. Nevertheless, in many cases with complex boundary of classification, the successful learning is not guaranteed and the problems of long learning time and local minimum attraction restrict the field application. In this paper, an Improved learning procedure of multi-layered neural network is proposed. The procedure is based on the generalized delta rule but it is particular in the point that the architecture of network is not fixed but enlarged during learning. That is, the number of hidden nodes or hidden layers are increased to help finding the classification boundary and such procedure is controlled by entropy evaluation. The learning speed and the pattern classification performance are analyzed and compared with the back-propagation algorithm.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate an innovative hydroforming process for the cost-effective manufacturing of double layered tube with circumferentially corrugated patterns. Conventional double pipe heat exchanger has relatively poor heat transfer efficiency because of the limited contact area resulting from the concentrically arranged simple cylindrical structure. As a promising alternative to enhance heat transfer efficiency, double layered tube with corrugated internal pattern was considered in this study. To fabricate corrugated inner tube, innovative tube hydroforming system was developed. The customized loading paths were established using the simulated forming pressure and contracting stroke at various bar diameters. Experimentally obtained cross-sectional profiles were analyzed to evaluate the reliability and applicability of the hydroformed tube with various patterns. The results demonstrate that the proposed hydroforming process can be a feasible alternative for manufacturing high-performance double-tube heat exchangers.

  • This investigation confirms that silver stearate consists of an infinite-sheet, two-dimensional, nonmolecular layered structure. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy reveal the following: plate-like morphology is identified from the SEM image, XRD peaks can be indexed to the (0k0) reflections of a layered structure, and infrared peaks show that alkyl chains are present in an all-trans conformational state with little or no significant gauche population. Based on these structural characteristics, we demonstrate that silver stearate, a prototype of layered organic-inorganic hybrid material, can be grown not only in a designed two-dimensional pattern but also in three-dimensionally ordered ways by using carboxyl-group terminated nanoparticles as a template.
