  • The protocrystalline silicon (pc-Si:H) multilayer solar cell is very promising owing to its fast stabilization with low degradation against light irradiation. However, the pc-Si:H multi layers have not extensively been investigated in detail on its material characteristics yet. We present the material characteristics of pc-Si:H multilayer using a transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and Raman spectroscopy. In addition, we present the superior light-soaking behavior of the pc-Si:H mutt i layer solar cell. A TEM micrograph shows that a pc-Si:H multilayer has a repeatedly layered structure and crystalline-like objects in a-Si:H matrix. A Raman spectra introduces improved short-range-order and medium-range-order in pc-Si:H multilayer. As a result the excellent metastability of the pc-Si:H multilayer solar cell is primarily due to the repeatedly layered structure that improves a structural order in absorber layer.

Elastic solutions due to a time-harmonic point load in isotropic multi-layered media

  • A new analytical derivation of the elastodynamic point load solutions for an isotropic multi-layered half-space is presented by means of the precise integration method (PIM) and the approach of dual vector. The time-harmonic external load is prescribed either on the external boundary or in the interior of the solid medium. Starting with the axisymmetric governing motion equations in a cylindrical coordinate system, a second order ordinary differential matrix equation can be gained by making use of the Hankel integral transform. Employing the technique of dual vector, the second order ordinary differential matrix equation can be simplified into a first-order one. The approach of PIM is implemented to obtain the solutions of the ordinary differential matrix equation in the Hankel integral transform domain. The PIM is a highly accurate algorithm to solve sets of first-order ordinary differential equations and any desired accuracy of the dynamic point load solutions can be achieved. The numerical simulation is based on algebraic matrix operation. As a result, the computational effort is reduced to a great extent and the computation is unconditionally stable. Selected numerical trials are given to validate the accuracy and applicability of the proposed approach. More examples are discussed to portray the dependence of the load-displacement response on the isotropic parameters of the multi-layered media, the depth of external load and the frequency of excitation.

  • 이 논문에서는 포화된 2상 지반의 동적해석에서 원역을 모형화하기 위한 새로운 무한요소를 제안하였다. 무한요소법은 무한영역 또는 반무한영역을 모형화해야 하는 공학문제에 효과적으로 적용되어 왔다. 그러나 현재까지 개발된 2상지반의 동적해석을 위한 무한요소는 형상함수에 사용될 수 있는 파동성문이 2개(Pl파와 P2파)로 한정되어 있다. 이 논문에서는 이와 같은 제한을 없애고 임의 개수의 파동성분을 고려할 수 있도록 하는 정식화 과정을 제안하였다. 구조물을 포함하는 근역은 유한요소로 나타내며 원역은 평행층상 반무한 지반으로 가정하였다. 제안된 무한요소의 타당성은 1차원 및 2차원 파동전달문제를 해석하고 이를 이론해 및 정밀수지해석 해와 비교하여 검증하였다.

Influences of Cathodic Protection and Coating Properties on the Corrosion Control of Metallic Structure in Extremely Acidic Fluids

  • A lot of parts in FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) systems of fossil-fuel power plants show the environments in which are highly changeable and extremely acidic corrosive medium according to time and locations, e.g. in duct works, coolers and re-heaters etc. These conditions are formed when system materials are immersed in fluid that flows on them or when exhausted gas is condensed into thin layered acidic medium to contact materials of the system walls and roofs. These environments make troublesome corrosion and air pollution problems that are occurred from the leakage of the condensed solution. To cathodically protect the metallic structures in extremely acidic fluid, the properties of the protective coatings on the metal surface were very important, and epoxy Novolac coating was applied in this work. On the base of acid immersion tests, hot sulfuric acid decreased the hardness of the coatings and reduced greatly the content of $Na_2O$, $Al_2O_3$, and $SiO_2$ among the main components of the coating. A special kind of CP(Cathodic Protection) system has been developed and tested in a real scale of the FGD facility. Applied coating for this CP system was peeled off and cracked in some parts of the facility. However, the exposed metal surface to extremely acidic fluid by the failure of the coatings was successfully protected by the new CP system.

  • 중저준위 방사성 폐기물 처분 안전성 평가에 이용될 수 있는 유한 차분법에 의한 수치모델을 개발하였다. 이 모델은 처분장이 암반내에 위치한 경우에 대하여 처분장 주위 지하 암반 매질에서의 핵종의 이동을 기술하는 것으로 암반내의 단일한 균열으로의 지하수에 의한 이동과 균열에 수직한 방향으로의 확산을 고려하여 일차원적으로 해석하였다. 수치모델은 해석해와 병행하여 처분장 안전성 평가에 있어서 유용하게 이용될 수 있는 것으로 보다 실제적인 경계조건을 사용할 수 있게 하고, 불균질한 암반매질에 대해 다중매질 모델링을 제공한다. 수치모델의 검증을 위하여 균열에서의 Sr-90 농도 Profile을 구하여 해석해와 비교하였고, 몇몇 경계 조건에 따른 영향을 비교하고 암반매질을 파라미터 값이 단계적으로 변하는 이중 매질에 대하여 확장하였다.

수정 Berggren 법과 수치해석법에 의한 동결깊이 산정 비교 (Comparison of Modified Berggren Method with Numerical Method for the Frost Penetration Depth)

  • 본 논문은 수정 Berggren 법과 상전이 현상을 모델링할 수 있는 유한요소 수치해석법을 사용하여 단열재를 포함한 대표적인 다층 지반에 대하여 동결깊이를 산정하여 비교 분석하였다. 균일한 단층 지반에서 수정 Berggren 법은 유한요소 수치해석법과 거의 동일한 결과를 보여주고 있다. 그러나 단열재를 포함한 다층 지반에서 수정 Berggren 법은 유한요소 수치해석 결과와 비교할 때 정확하지 않은 결과를 나타내고 있다. 따라서 단열재를 포함한 다층 지반에서는 수정 Berggren 법 대신에 유한요소나 유한차분법에 기반을 둔 수치해석법을 사용하여 동결깊이를 산정하여야 할 것으로 사료된다.

These conditions are formed when system materials are immersed in fluid that flows on them or when exhausted gas is condensed into thin layered medium to contact materials of the system walls and roofs. The environments make troublesome corrosion and air pollution problems that are occurred from the leakage of the condensed solution. The frequent shut-down and repairing works of FGD systems also demand costs and low efficiencies of those facilities. In general, high corrosion resistant materials have been used to solve this problem. However, even the super alloys and Teflon linings sometimes have not been good enough to preventing corrosion. Further more, they are expensive and not easily repairable in short periods of operation stops. In this work, new technology that is effective, economical and easily repairable has proposed to solve the corrosion problems in FGD facilities. This technology contains cathodic protection, coatings and remote monitoring-controlling systems.

환경설계에서 경관드로잉의 의미와 방법론에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Meaning and Methodology of Landscape Drawings in the Environmental Design)

  • The Landscape Drawing is the main medium for constructing better environment which provides human beings with a place for dwelling well, even though it has some limitations. To provide places for people's daily lives, by what measure do we design\ulcorner, by what measure do we give dimension\ulcorner, and how can we appropriately measure the place with drawing\ulcorner On any given site, of course, much has already happened, i.e, there is history. Any adequate interpretation of such a site should poetically take into account the present effects of its absent past. The findings to reveal the meaning and methodology of landscape drawings in the environmental design with a case study are as follows: (1) The value of landscape drawings is the poetic, artistic interpretation which we sense and bodily experience through the simultaneous exposure of the site's temporal, spatial, and tactile conditions. (2) The landscape drawing should represent the invisible (imaginary) world as well as the visible (physical) world. (3) There can be classified as two methods in representing the rich experience of a place: expression and notation. Expression is the abstract representation and do not have a direct relationship to construction due to its ambiguous and connotative structure. But notation is constructional due to it's purely objective symbol system which is obviously denotative structure. (4) Collage is a medium of specific act that can represent the complex layered phenomena and the rich experience of given site. (5) The landscape drawings represent not only topographical space which can be measured objectively, but also topic which can be cognized culturally.

Capillary Characteristics of Water and Cations in Multi-layered Reclaimed Soil with Macroporous Subsurface Layer Utilizing Coal Bottom Ash

  • Serious problems in reclaimed land agriculture are high soil salinity and poor vertical drainage, so desalinization in these soils is very difficult. Also, although desalinization is accomplished in reclaimed top soils, before long, soils are resalinized according to capillary rise of salts from the subsurface soils. To resolve these problems, multi-layered soil columns with subsurface layer of macroporous medium utilizing coal bottom ash (CBA) were constructed and the effects of blocked resalinization of these soils were investigated. In this experiment soil samples were collected from Munpo series (coarse-loamy, nonacid, mixed, mesic, typic Fluvaquents). The soil texture was silt loam and the EC was $33.9dS\;m^{-1}$. As for groundwater seawater was used and groundwater level of 1 cm from the bottom was maintained. The overall rate of capillary rise was $2.38cm\;hr^{-1}$ in soil 60 cm column, $0.25cm\;hr^{-1}$ in topsoil (30 cm) + CBA (5 cm) + subsurface soil (10 cm) column and $0.08cm\;hr^{-1}$ in topsoil (30 cm) + CBA (10 cm) + subsurface soil (10 cm) column. In multi-layered soil columns with CBA 20, 30 cm layer, wetting front due to capillary rise could not be seen in top soil layer. After 70 days capillary rise experiment water soluble Na+ accumulated in top soil of soil columns with CBA 20, 30 cm was diminished by 92.8, 96.5% respectively in comparison with Na+ accumulated in top soil of soil 60 cm column because CBA layer cut off capillary rise of salts from the subsurface soil. From these results we could conclude that the macroporous layer utilizing CBA placed at subsurface layer cut off capillary rise of solutes from subsurface soil, resulting in lowered level of salinity in top soil and this method can be more effective in newly reclaimed saline soil.

층상 waveguide에서의 SH파 전파 해석을 위한 경계조건 (Consistent Boundary Condition for Horizontally-Polarized Shear (SH) Waves Propagated in Layered Waveguides)

  • 무한 매질에서의 파전파 현상은 공학과 자연과학의 여러 분야에서 다양한 물리적 현상을 서술하는데 활용되고 있고, 이 문제에 대한 해를 얻기 위하여 해석적 방법 또는 수치적 방법이 개발되어 사용되고 있다. 이 문제에 대한 정확한 해를 얻기 위해서는 무한 영역으로의 에너지 방사를 정확히 고려해야 하고, 이를 위해 다양한 수치적 또는 역학적 모형 또는 경계조건이 개발되었다. 이 연구에서는 층상 waveguide에서의 scalar wave 또는 SH파 전파 문제에 적용할 수 있는 새로운 경계조건을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 waveguide의 수직방향으로 유한요소 이산화를 적용하여 얻은 SH파의 지배방정식을 변형하여 waveguide의 무한 영역의 영향을 나타내는 경계조건을 유도한다. 층상 waveguide에서의 SH파에 대한 고유모드의 직교성을 이용하여, 새로운 경계조건은 기존의 root-finding absorbing boundary condition와 동등함을 보이고, 이로부터 새로운 경계조건의 차수가 증가할수록 정확성이 증가하고, 또한 이산화된 수준에서도 안정함을 유도할 수 있다. 제안된 경계조건을 층상 waveguide에서의 파전파 문제에 적용하여 그 정확성과 안정성을 검증한다.
