레이저유도 형광법을 이용한 화염내 OH 농도분포 계측 (Hydroxyl Radical Measurements in the Flame Using LIF)

  • Laser applied combustion diagnostic techniques-laser induced fluorescence (LIF) and coherent anti-Stokes Ramann spectroscopy (CARS)-are demonstrated. The profiles of hydroxyl radical (OH) and temperature in the counterflow burner are measured and compared with the numerical results. OH radical is excited on the Q$_1$(6) line of the $A^2$$\sum^+$$\leftarrow$$X^2{\prod}$(1, 0) band transition (281.1 nm) and LIF signal is measured at the the bands of (0, 0) and (1, 1) transition (306~326 nm). Absolute OH radical is obtained by using the laser absorption technique. The quenching effects are considered. Temperature is measured using broadband CARS system. Two dimensional OH radical profile is also obtained. The profiles of OH radical and temperature are found to agree well with those of numerical calculation.

레이저 계측법을 이용한 분무 가시화 (Spray Visualization Using Laser Diagnostics)

  • The optical patterantor provides the high resolution and quantitative information of the spray. Fuel distribution and Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) can be measured from fluorescence and Mie-scat-tering images. To correct the attenuation of the laser beam and signal in dense spray region, the method to find the geometric mean of the signal intensities obtained from two cameras was evaluated and verified in a solid-cone spray. In high pressure environment, the increased number density of the droplets cause multiple scattering. The optical patternation technique using a laser beam instead of a laser sheet was applied to minimize the multiple scattering problem. The pattern of a coaxial spray was changed from hollow-cone to solid-cone shape, and the spray angle was reduced as the ambient pressure increased from 0.1 to 4.0 MPa.

  • In this study, laser ablation atomic fluorescence (LAAF) spectroscopy has been applied for a nanometer-scale surface analysis of Na-doped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). LAAF spectroscopy is a new sensitive element detection technique which involves atomizing of a sample by the laser ablation and detection of ablated plume by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectroscopy. Using this technique in the detection of Na atoms with Na-doped PMMA, a detection limit is obtained as 36 fg for single laser shot. Further, the depth distribution in the sample is measured with a very high spatial resolution using a two-layer PMMA sample by observing the shot-by-shot LIF intensity from the Na atoms.

Measurements of Temperature and Flow Fields with Sub-Millimeter Spatial Resolution Using Two-Color Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) and Micro-Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)

  • Comprehensive measurements for velocity and temperature fields have been conducted. A Micro PIV 2-color LIF system have been setup to measure the buoyancy driven fields in a 1-mm heated channel with low Grashof-Prandtl numbers [$86]. Fluorescence microscopy is combined with an MPIV system to obtain enough intensity images and clear pictures from nano-scale fluorescence particles. The spatial resolution of the Micro PIV system is $75{\mu}m\;by\;67{\mu}m$ and error due to Brownian motion is estimated $1.05\%$. Temperature measurements have achieved the $4.7\;{\mu}m$ spatial resolution with relatively large data uncertainties the present experiment. The measurement uncertainties have been decreased down to less than ${\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$ when measurement resolution is equivalent to $76\;{\mu}m$. Measured velocity and temperature fields will be compared with numerical results to examine the feasibility of development as a diagnostic technique.

  • Due to extremely small device size and velocity scale, mixing in microchannel take place very slowly by way of molecular diffusion transport. Mixing enhancement becomes a central issue in microfluidics for biomedical and chemical applications. In this work, The optimization results and validation through experiment and fabrication. In this efficient micromixer design, it is essential to evaluate mixing efficiency with good precision. Mixing efficiency for Y-channel micromixer is measured by fluorescence intensity using LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) Confocal Microscope. The Y-channel micromixers are fabricated with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS). Nile Blue A is injected into the micromixer as a fluorescence dye for measuring of fluorescence intensity by He/Ne laser. Throughout the experiments and computer simulation, accurate mixing efficiency evaluation process for a PDMS Y-channel micromixer is established.

산화제 결핍 상태의 프로판 층류 확산화염에서 LIF 이미지와 SiC 필라멘트 부착물의 형태 비교 (Comparison of Morphology of Deposits on SiC Filaments with LIF Image in Propane/Air Laminar Diffusion Flames in an Oxidizer Deficient Environment)

  • The morphology of deposits on $15-{\mu}m$ thin SiC filaments has been investigated with SEM and compared with UV-excited laser induced broadband fluorescences in co-flowing, propane laminar diffusion flames in a reduced oxidizer environment. The homogeneous morphology of droplet-like deposits inner flame zone and the agglomeration of condensed-phase deposits and the transition to soots from grown up droplet-like precursors with approaching the flame surface can be observed in a barely sooting flame. The average size of the mature soots deposited in the luminous flame edge is scarcely dependent on their axial position in a confined flame under reduced oxidizer condition. A double structure of PAH fluorescence is observed in near-extinction flames with further decreasing of oxidizer. A comparison of the PAH fluorescence with the morphologies of deposits indicates that appearance of the "dark" hollow zone is caused by a decreased number density of developed liquid-phase large molecules and the outer weak fluorescence zone is caused by the diffusion of gas-phase small molecules.

  • 원자력 산업의 변환공정에서 발생하는 폐수용액중의 우라늄 농도를 레이저 유발형광법을 사용하여 쉽게 측정할 수 있는 새로운 분석방법을 개발하였다. 실험 결과 시료의 약 10배 이상의 부피로 4M-인산용액을 첨가함으로써 효율적으로 형광 quencher의 영향을 배제시킬 수 있었으며, 폐액 시료에서의 우라늄 농도 3.0$\times$$10^{-6}$-6.0$\times$$10^{-5}$ M U $O_2$$^{2+}$의 범위에서 농도에 대한 형광강도의 직선성이 우수하였다.

  • Methotrexate의 영향은 혼탁매질에서 형광체, 산란체와 응흡수체에 의해 파장과 산란된 형광 세기로 규명되는데, laser induced fluorescence(LIF) 분광학에 의해 분자특성으로 나타난다. 산란매질에서 광학적 효과는 광학적 파라미터들((${\mu}_s$, ${\mu}_a$, ${\mu}_t$)에 의해 표현되고 응집은 고-액상 분리공정에서 중요하게 활용되고 있다. 따라서 입자가 서로 접근될 때 콜로이드 입자들의 상호작용을 LIF와 응집효과로 분석하였다. 산란계수는 산란매질, L-${\alpha}$-Phosphatidylcholine의 농도가 증가함에 따라 산란 광학적 파라미터가 증가하였으나 흡수 파라미터는 감소하였다. 광학적 파라미터들은 레이저 광원에서 검출기까지 깊이의 함수에 의해 깊이가 깊어짐에 따라 산란세기가 기하급수적으로 감소함을 알 수 있다. 이는 유지화학, 생의학 생성물, 레이저 의학, 의공학 분야적용에 LIF와 입자이동 현상은 아주 적합한 모델 연구에 큰 도움이 될 것이다.

  • 펄스형 질소레이저를 사용한 time-resolved laser-induced fluorimetry를 이용하여 우라늄 작업자의 뇨속에 함유되어 있는 우라늄의 농도를 간단한 전처리만으로 정량분석하는 방법을 연구하였다. 형광분석할 때에 뇨에 함유된 chloride ion은 우라늄 형광을 심하게 quenching하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 따라서 이를 제거하기 위한 전처리 과정에서 많은 시간 소모와 큰 실험 오차를 유발하고 있다. 본 방법에서는 10% Fluran 수용액을 뇨에 첨가하여 뇨함량이 약 1% 정도가 되었을 때 뇨속의 chloride에 의한 quenching 영향을 최소한으로 줄일 수 있었으며, 시간 0에서의 형광강도를 계산하여 형광강도의 농도에 대한 직선성을 측정한 결과 우라늄 농도 범위 10-500 ppb에서 우수한 직선성을 나타내었다.

  • The fluorescence excitation (FE) spectrum of the S1-S0 (1B2-1A1) transition of dimethyldiazirine cooled in supersonic jet expansions has been obtained. Dispersed fluorescence (DF) spectra have also been taken for some prominent features of the FE spectrum. Vibrational analyses of the FE and DF spectra with the help of an ab initio molecular orbital calculation lead to some new vibrational assignments and refined fundamental frequencies.
